Glad you found your way back.....and you do realise that you're 'hooked' now, don't you?

This hobby is notoriously addictive!

As for sites to use......well, Ancestry is as good as any, but it comes at a price, as does FMP (Find my Past)

https://familysearch.org/

is FREE, and has both 1871 and 1881 censuses in full as well as a vast amount of BMD info

I posted above the link to freebmd - a site you will find invaluable.

If you need anyhelp you can always ask on here, but do try to give as much info as possible, and don't post more than once on the same topic.

Do I stay on here if I have a query ?, if so, what in your opinion would be the best route to find out what residents were living at 61 nile st sunderland, in 1943 please.

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 29 Jan 2015 22:45

Sadly, there isn't one.

ER's were not compiled during WW2.

If your query relates to the same people as on this thread, just add to it.

If it's about completely different ones, a new thread would be best.

otherwise, things could get muddled

done it right.

I was looking to see if there was any children born to John g Johnson, who married Annie, aka Hannah nee Burnell, Purvis, Laverick, how ever she has used Purvis on her marriage , which is march quart ,South Shields, 1937, I am aware she had Arnold by him in 1918,however he carried Purvis name till he changed it in 1937, when his mum and dad married.

I found a George Johnson oct quart 1945 ?

No 2 Would I be able to find a marriage or children from this information alone;

James Purvis born Sheffield 1948, mum, M, lowrie/lowrey? married George Purvis JUNE 1944 , IVE put M as I have listed a Margaret and a mary thank you nat.

Is this the birth you mean?

Births Dec 1945 (>99%)
JOHNSON George Purvis S.Shields 10a 971

Annie's maiden name was not Purvis.........it was Burnell

You'd really be better keeping this on one thread

Annie was married to LAVERICK in 1932.............unless she was committing bigamy, she should have re-married as Laverick

I think you need to do some re-thinking about her...............

natalie

natalie Report Edit Delete 31 Jan 2015 14:43

yes, sorry it was, thanks for bearing with me, I a little brain damage and get confused x
My though on George Johnson, would she Annie be allowed to name another son George as in her George in 1916, (different father).

natalie

natalie Report Edit Delete 31 Jan 2015 14:46

I have all marriage certificates apart from Annie and George,

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 31 Jan 2015 14:47

I doubt very much that the 1945 birth is in any way relevant

Just consider how OLD Annie would have been by then

her first marriage was in 1909

This is why keeping to one thread is always advised..............

right ok, should I delete the other or copy and paste onto this?

hi Jacqueline, she married at least 3 times, in 1909 annie burnel to William Purvis , in 1932 ish to jo laverick I also believe there is a mr Johnson after laverick, what im looking for is a connection with a George Purvis born in 1870s and died in 1945 to 1949 possibly Gateshead Blaydon burnopfield, ive done each census in ancestry , but interested in the years later may need to take a trip up north .

Was she adopted, or was the name change due to marriage?

Ni Natlie,

You arent doing anything wrong.but,
The online electorals are modern day ones from abt 2002--2013/14,the years you are looking for are only avaliable in a main library or local history centre and you would need to know where she lived as they are only searchable by address and would need to be done in person, although some will do a once look-up if you contact them.

If you know she lived in London or Birmingham Ancestry site has electoral roll which could help with some early entries.

natalie

natalie Report Edit Delete 25 Jan 2015 19:53

tell me if I can look up a Annie Purvis/born Hannah Burnell, on the electrol roll on here for the 1920,s up to 1970's, im on a plat, trial but must be doing something wrong.
