I think all I can suggest is that you buy the marriage certificate for Thomas and Priscilla, and see what it says on there ........ it should say widow or divorced

It DOES look like Druscilla on the census image ............... but I cannot find a Druscilla Hannigan (or Hannagan) anywhere else.

Could the enumerator have mis-heard Priscilla for Druscilla??

I didn't have to provide any documentation as to my marital status in the 1960s ..................... so certainly wasn't needed further back!

Thanks for trying. I will probably try to locate some of her siblings to find out what happened to them. I think both parents were from Ireland but the county wasn't mentioned so that may be impossible.

Well I am really impressed Jax. That is her, then in 1891 Rebecca, Dennis, Margaret and Priscilla are missing. I suppose considering their ages they may have married and moved away. At her marriage in 1912 she is called Aitkin but I can't find a marriage to anyone called Aitkin. When marrying then were no documents necessary to prove marital status?

Could you tell us when she was born and where please

I am very new to this and need all the help I can get. my grandmother appears in 1881 census with Hannagan family members in Lancashire but then disappears. I know she marries Thomas Wood in 1912 and dies in 1945. Priscilla used the name Aitkin at her marriage but there does not appear to be a wedding to a man called Aitkin.

Any ideas anyone ?
