I found two births and baptisms for 2nd great aunts on Ancestry in the Non Conformist and Non Parochial 1567-1970 records, both in the Lying-in Hospital, Endell Street Holborn....
Harriet 1789 and Sophia 1794

I am fairly sure the Lying In Hospital registers are not on Ancestry.

You can view them at

or

Sorry, my statement that ancestry holds the records should have said that ancestry holds some of the records and adds to them.

You might need to contact the LMA directly.

Or I might be missing something obvious.

This is what you have?

Hi Patcham

Mary Daffen Jackson, daughter of Pheby, abged 22, and John Jackson, seaman, was born on 17th August, 1819, and baptised on the 26th August.

The settlement info. was New Castle?

My subscription is to Ancestry.co.uk and I just cannot find the Lying-in hospital records - probably "operator error" on my part.

Pheby and John had two other children, Carolyn Lloyd Jackson, 1816, and John Loyd Jackson, 1818, before John's death in 1819. If either of these children were born at the same hospital I am hoping to find more information.

At the moment I cannot find the marriage of Pheby/Phoebe and John, although it seems only married women were admitted to the hospital.

After John's death Phoebe married Richard Brigden in 1822, they are my gt.gt. grandparents.

Many thanks for your help.

Some useful information:

http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/things-to-do/visiting-the-city/archives-and-city-history/london-metropolitan-archives/Documents/visitor-information/35-records-of-patients-in-london-hospitals.pdf

includes:
British Lying In Hospital, Endell Street, Holborn (H14/BLI)
Founded in 1749 for married women only, it was situated in Brownlow Street, Long
Acre, Holborn until 1849 when it moved to Endell Street. It closed in 1913. Registers
of births and baptisms 1749 - 1868 are held by the National Archives, Kew, Richmond, Surrey TW9 4DU (RG8/52)
They have been included in the International Genealogical Index. LMA has a delivery book 1856 - 1860 and case books 1905-1909

And ancestry does hold the records.

If you want to give us the name and date we can have a look for you as well as you looking, just in case you are missing out on something obvious.

Is it possible to view the records of this hospital on Ancestry? If so how!

Have been given details of one birth and would like to see the original.

Thanks
Jackie
