Can anyone help me find anything about William Schneider b. 1857 in Germany
The English 1891 census has him born in Germany, looking on the original it has
what looks like Cassell, Germany, but I have been unable to find anything. He was a Baker and the first English census I can find him on is 1881.

I'm afraid its not that William, His wife is Annie (Anna) and was living inPoplar.
I was hoping to be able to find his German birth

I have German ancestors too and unless you know where in Germany they came form its a brick wall I have found

BMDS are kept locally in each area and of course lots wont have survived the Wars .
There are no incoming passenger records either as they would have come in as foot passengers

At least his marriage cert names his father

You could try the Family Search site to see if you can locate his birth knowing his dads name was John or the German version of the name

it should be spelled Kassel
