I was asked by a relative yesterday if I knew anything about Duckhouse Road Wednesfield - or to be exact if I knew if it was named after anyone. Duckhouse being our family name and knowing they seemed to originate from that area it got me thinking. Had a quick look on the internet without any success so thought I'd pass this one on to my fellow genes reunited folk to see if anyone can come up with an answer - so over to you good people to see what you can come up with.

Have you thought of contacting Wolverhampton Council to see if anyone there knows why the road was given that name?

Have you considered contacting a local history society - they are usually extremely well informed about such matters?

I did a search on http://www.streetmap.co.uk/ for Duckhouse Road.
It found it and took me to a map, with an arrow pointing at the road.
Embedded in the URL it took me to were the OS coordinates of the arrowhead, viz:
x=394819&y=301468
more usually written as 394819,301468

I then went to http://www.old-maps.co.uk/index.html and searched for the coords 394819,301468
Duckhouse Rd exists on the 1958-1962 map, but not the 1955 or earlier maps.
