Here is all i have got to date in regards to trying to find my aunt her & 2 children (my mums sister, who is deceased) any of my efforts of trying to find her marriage here in Qld, can't be done with the 75 yr, i know that my aunt married in Brisbane to a Dutch fellow & had a 1 daughter & 1 son, before leaving to go back to Holland, taking my grandparents, my aunts parents who passed in Holland & through a researcher in Holland i found out how & where they died & were buried. I don’t doubt for one moment that my aunt has passed, as i know her husband had passed prior 1974, that was when she last wrote to my mum. Not knowing her surname i have little hope if any of finding her 2 children (my only 2 cousins left on the Dutch side of my family) Also i have not any idea how they left Australia, either by plane or ship, my guess is it maybe a ship, only because of the time frame, but then again i never rule out anything, as everything is a possible. She was a Nursing Sister at the Brisbane General Hospital (now the Royal Brisbane Hospital) Her full name was Margarette Gryntje De VRIES (also known as Margaret) Born 12th May 1916 in Rosewood Qld Aust. These are the only 2 entries i found of her on the electoral rolls as a single lady are below, the next electoral roll would be in her married name. Name: Margaret De Vries Gender: Female Electoral Year: 1937 State: Queensland District: Darling Downs Subdistrict: Rosewood. Lived at Moorelands, Rosewood Name: Margaret de Vries Gender: Female Electoral Year: 1943 State: Queensland District: Brisbane Subdistrict: Kelvin Grove. Somewhere between 1943 & when they all left for Holland. Her Father was Johannes De VRIES born 18th April 1883 in Amsterdam Holland, Died 14th August 1965 Warnsveld Holland, Immigrated to Australia on 6th April 1912,Naturalized in Melbourne Aust on 7th September 1914. Married on the 26th November 1908 in Amsterdam Holland. Her Mother was Trijntje DEKKER born 4th march 1884 in Zaandam Holland, Died 3rd March 1965 in Apeldoorn Holland, she arrived in Australia in 1913 along with their first child a son Johannes Willem De VRIES Born 12th July 1910 in Amsterdam Holland Died in a POW camp in Changi Prison Singapore on 20th September 1943, his electoral roll entries are Johannes William Devries Gender: Male Electoral Year: 1936 State: Queensland District: Brisbane Subdistrict: Ithaca . Lived at 19 Warmington Street, Paddington,Qld. Labourer. Name: Johannes William Devries Gender: Male Electoral Year: 1937 State: Queensland District: Brisbane Subdistrict: Ithaca The parents Electoral roll entries are Name: Johannes De Vries Gender: Male Electoral Year: 1919 State: Queensland District: Moreton Subdistrict: Rosewood Electoral Roll -- 1922 - he is a farmer, and she doing Home duties - living Moorlands, Rosewood. Name: Johannes De Vries Gender: Male Electoral Year: 1925 State: Queensland District: Moreton Subdistrict: Rosewood Name: Johannes De Vries Gender: Male Electoral Year: 1936 State: Queensland District: Darling Downs Subdistrict: Rosewood. Name: Johannes De Vries Gender: Male Electoral Year: 1954 State: Queensland District: Moreton Name: Trienty De Vries Gender: Female Electoral Year: 1954 State: Queensland District: Moreton Subdistrict: Mount Gravatt. Lived at Broardwater Road Mt Gravatt. Subdistrict: Mount Gravatt. Lived at Broardwater Road Mt Gravatt. (My Grandmother was with my Grandfather at all the above address on the above years of the electoral rolls) Their other child & second daughter (my mum) Veronica Violet De VRIES born 1st November 1922 in Rosewood Qld Aust, Died on 21st Feb 2004 at home in Imbil, Qld buried at Gympie Qld, & because of some family rubbish between the 2 sisters, my mum would never give me my aunts married name, as i so would like to try & find my 2 cousins if at all possible, without the surname i am at a loss, & as my husband & i are planning to go to Holland in 2014 & their Floriade is being held in Amsterdam next year, so if i can find my cousins i maybe able to meet them while we are over in Holland. So somewhere between Margarette being single and on her last electoral roll 1943 & them all leaving Australia somewhere after the 1954 electoral roll as there is no data of my grandparents being in Australia on the next electoral roll of 1959. *Who did Margarette Gryntje De VRIES Born 12th May 1916 in Rosewood Qld Aust, Marry?? sometime after 1943?? and maybe before 1947. I was lead to believe that both of my aunts children were born here in Qld, & a couple years different in ages & older than myself, i was born in the Brisbane General Hospital. I look forward to hearing back from anyone that can give me any thing new to go on in my search of my Aunt's marriage or how they left Qld for Holland. Have a great day. Laurain.(Fingers crossed) :-S :-)
