Could also just be a mark made by 'officer' when checking all entries done. ie a sort of tick .. |

Unusual! The index does have just a dash under MMN and freebmd transcribe this as unknown. Two possible reasons spring to mind - the child had been abandoned, given a name and surname but obviously no mother's name would be known or the Index compiler could not make out the name on the copy of the Register. |
