This is some great information. It will be great to get this verified! I have checked the military records section and if William is part of my family line, he was an army private for 24 years and his trade was a wheelwright. Quick google search shows wheelwright to be somebody who makes and repairs carriage and other mobile equipment wheels! I would never have imagined a trade like this in the army, but i suppose times have changed since the early 1800's!! I had looked at some of those census records and wondered why the childrens birth places were so varied. |

Heavy guns were transported on gun carriages............if you've ever seen the Royal Tournament on TV, you'll have seen the races involving them. |
