Just back from three more days at the S.P. centre at Register House (National Records of Scotland), Edinburgh. It's a joy to research there as the systems are so fast and the help is unstinting. I get the most from my visits by working with the Online "Scotlands People" website at home. A single credit (20p) can be used to search for up to 30 results on a printed page, for example marriages of a certain name in a certain county. That page can then be taken to the SP centre and each marriage certificate viewed for more in-depth info such as parents, ages of the parties, witnesses... |
