You could try the National Archives
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/records.aspx?cat=153-fc16&cid=0&kw=Norfolk%20Record%20Office#0

Or Norfolk Records Office
http://www.archives.norfolk.gov.uk/

(via Google)

Have a look here:-

http://www.origins.org.uk/genuki/NFK/norfolk/church/bapt_mar_bur.shtml

At one point the site says this:-

Nonconformist registers have been deposited at the National Archives, near London. Many have been microfilmed and are available at libraries, record offices and LDS centres.

Thank you for the information. I have been to the National Archives and they told me the records I need are probably at Norfolk records office, but after visiting them they told me that they were at National archives!!! so have come to a dead end, unfortunately I believe that there may not be records for the Primitive Methodist chapel at Sporle or Swaffham. Will keep on trying!!
Thanks

You could try asking on the rootsweb mailing list for Norfolk.

Ideally I would like to find any records of the Utting family i.e John Utting born 1760 but most of all I would like to find out if there are any burial records and grave details of churches in Saham Toney, Saham Hills or Ashill Norfolk.. I have lots of information and can go back 6 generations but it is the burial places I would very much like to find out about more.
Thanks

At the moment I only have to hand two death certificates on which the date of first one is Frederick Utting died 17th Feb 1911 at Saham Toney and James Utting died 4th December 1922

Sheila

Sheila Report 11 Jan 2013 16:55

Thanks for latest information. But I don't think they are related to the Uttings I have found, although I have a John, James, Mary and Ann Utting in my tree the dates do not match. When I get a chance I will find all the details I have and double check to see if maybe I have other Utting's with the same name and dates which match. Thank you so much for taking the time to look, the trouble is there are so many Utting's from that area. When I first started searching I thought it would be easy as I thought the name was unusual!!!!

martynsue Report 11 Jan 2013 17:59

the james you mention is buried at ashill st nicholas church & cemetery,it appear's to be a family plot,
james utting--04-12-1922 aged 67yrs
his mother sarah ann bensley--22-02-1908,(she must have married again.)
phoebe utting 26-11-1945 aged 83yrs,
percy utting 04-12-1903 aged 4yrs the son of james & phoebe utting.

Sheila Report 11 Jan 2013 18:19

Thanks once again. They are my relations. James Utting was my Great Grandfather, he was born in in the Union Workhouse Swaffham, at the time I don't think his mother Sarah was married as her name on the birth certificate is Utting, I have been researching her and came up with a marriage between her and a John Fox which I think now maybe wrong as I had also found a marriage to a man called Bensley so will investigate that further. Phoebe Utting was James' wife I believe, I seem to remember my late mother thought that Phoebe had married again, but don't think that can be true. Have you found out all this information on the Norfolk family history site?
Will now try to piece together all information, very time consuming but exciting!!!

martynsue

martynsue Report 11 Jan 2013 18:28

norfolk family history society it is only about £12 per year,
as she has the surname bensley on the memorial i think that would be the way to go,
did they have any more children after percy?
i will see if i can find a second marriage for phoebe.

martynsue

martynsue Report 11 Jan 2013 18:41

phoebe did marry again in june 1928 to a robert lusher.

Sheila

Sheila Report 11 Jan 2013 18:42

I don't think Sarah Anne had anymore children, but of course I was going down the wrong route by looking at surname fox, Percy I think you said was James & Phoebe's child!! I did join Norfolk family history society yesterday, but as yet I am waiting to be able to log on, they said it could be a couple of weeks before I can!! I have got a death certificate for Phoebe which records her name as Lusher she was widow of Robert Lusher and all the details you have given me on her are the same and I have just noticed that the informant of the death is her son in law whom I have verified with my other data.
Will now go onto the Norfolk family history society and hopefully will be able to log on.
