Member Since: June 2007 Posts: 12 Send Message	I have been difficulties in tracing my mother's side of the family. I only know that my grandmother Rhoda Gill gave birth to my mother Madeline in Richmond Surrey in 1928, I'm not even sure how old my grandmother was then, although she may have been around 38ish. I have got my grandmothers death cert from old documents we found, but I cannot trace a birth register for her. It stated on the cert that she was the widow of Sam Rayne and I have now got the marriage cert dated 1931. It states that Sam's father was James Rayne and Rhoda's father was Frederick Gill. However, after searching all records I cannot find anything else. I have no idea where Frederick or James originated from. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I really don't know where to start. The marriage cert states that James was a retired sea captain but I cannot read what it says for Frederick. I have looked on census but nothing.
