Ok so Ive confused people..(also Blonde myself lol) Alice (my dads mom) was assumed" adopted by a lady called Fanny. However Fanny had the SAME surname on the 1911 census as Alice. Fanny was 17, so putting 2 and 2 together and probably getting 5! I wondered if Fanny could have been the mom but nan and grandad wouldnt allow it. then later on in life, Fanny said she had adopted Alice but really was her mom???? Im just guessing this as its a coindicence in 1911 they had same surname. And infact a brother or half brother of Fanny in the 1911 census had the surnane "woolgar Fisher" so again, is it the same Woolger gene I wonder. I think I need to try and find out who Rosannah was before married Edwards as she had only been married to him for 11 year and Fanny was 17, so obviously not his child. Are you still with me :) |

oh dear, what am I like - didnt reaslise to turn over the page, takes me back to school exams lol. Anyway Jax, thank you for your email, I will print off all your census findings, certainly more information for me to look at and I 'm better looking at it on old fashioned paper so I can write notes. (and I cannot print off now as Arsenal are playing and my husband will moan ;-) ) Im beginning to realise that just becase they are called one name on one census or certificate, they can change, happended when researching my grandad, Knew him as Sonny, my Dad said his name was Henry, found Death sert but no Birth cert, still couldnt find him then found him under Thomas Henry!! You've really been helpful. I will update more tomorrow. |

After compiling all the info From Jax (thankyou) Fanny still is the favourite as potential mother to Alice, but of course there were 2 other Woolgar siblings from Rosannah that although not living in the house in the 1911 census could have had a child that they needed to home with the grandparents. So I definitely need to wait for the Birth ceertificate. In the mean time can you give me some adive as to where I need to go to find out more information such as occupations for some of the people already in the tree. Ive tired the Parish records on this site but most of the time they dont have the person listed, any hints appreciated. |
