I AM PULLING UP THIS THREAD AGAIN Please go to end of Page 2 - Looking for the DEATH of an AMBROSE (child) born and died BETWEEN 1901? and the 1911 Census please
EDIT: Not interested in Harry at the moment
Who is Harry - this is my dilemma. I think he is a made up person!
Harry Breed appears in the 1901 Census, he is shown as single , aged 25 born in 1876 in Shefford, Bedfordshire.
There is a birth in Huntingdonshire in 1874, a marriage in 1903 (Ampthill) and other Harry births in 1881 or 1883 in Shefford (other GR Members' Trees) plus some deaths, but...........
I cannot (yet) locate a convincing corresponding birth for him - the years and places are always out - which is why I think he may be a made up person!
Thought I would see if anyone has more success or suggestions?

Located him through 1901 Census record at 15 Ashdown Street - I have tried connecting him back to 1911 Census - but it does not make sense that Harry born in Shefford, married in Ampthill with a son born in 1902 was in Islington in 1901 and giving the wrong year of birth

My theory is that 'Harry Breed' is an alias for my great grandfather - who was an Excavator (digging deep holes and shoring them up with timbers according to my dad) - it is the year 1876 that makes me think it is him - that and the fact that the other Boarder - William Donnelly - was a witness at his marriage in December 1901. His place of residence at the time of marriage was 15 Ashdown Street!

No, not the sweep - I am going with the Excavator - who I know was not called Harry but was definitely born in 1876!
ADDED:
I mean my great grandfather was not called Harry, but was a labourer/excavator and was born in 1876.

Gosh.... I thought I had problems, ...Lol.
Just to clarify then......
Harry BREED ( perhaps not his real name ) was your father's grandfather and was married in 1901, - address 15 Ashdown Street ...and one of the witness names being William Donnelly, possibly a fellow boarder in 1901 census.
Was great grandfather shown as an excavator on his marriage cert. and or on his childrens birth certificates?

Mrs Bucket but §till Lòóking for Bouquet®™?
Have searched for 'Breed' on FMP - brings up Breeds, Breeden etc Henrys, just used initial 'H' all sorts of combinations. I have been working on him since beginning of this year - still cannot get one that I think is definitely the 'Harry' in 1901 - so by a process of elimination - I am convinced that really it is an alias.

Oh yes, I have found him in 1911 - He married Maud Hill (Boarding at her mother's house), in December 1901 - he used William Ambrose born in Hertfordshire (not too far from Biggleswade), occupation usually shown on Census and his marriage as a Labourer and his first daughter's birth (my paternal grandmother) as a General Labourer living in Old Ford, East London in 1911.

Yes, I have had their Marriage Cert since 2006 - but have left them alone until now (time on my hands) and G grandfather has led me a merry chase - I knew there was something when he signed his name on his Marriage Certificate but by the time my grandmother was born he had apparently 'forgotten' how to sign
