Hi Brian - welcome to the boards.
Seeing as Judith Ann last posted a year ago she mightn't realise there's a further response. You could click on her name to make contact and share information.
Good luck, MC

Well - 1 year on and I am tracing Arthur Harold Parker from the other way - this post has been brilliant for me. He was borm Plympton 1899 Registered 1900 - mother was Evelina Goodman - daughter of Ann Goss of Brixton Devon and Thomas Goodman. Ann Goss was the daughter of William Goss of Brixton (I think) and his second wife.
William Goss was the son of Robert Goss and Mirian Cockram married in Brixton - I believe Miriam was from Buckland Monachorum and Robert maybe from Cornwall. The Robert Goss bit is in my tree here - but I have moved to ancestry.co.uk - there is a picture of Evelina late 1800's there - I have the same ID on both sites. All I have to do now is work on his brother Ernest Thomas Parker ( I am descended from William Goss's sister Elizabeth Goss who married Thomas Endle Stevens in Plymouth)

Hi Jude, I think the Skilton may be a red herring. From the other info looks like the family living at Folletts House around the time Charles came over in 1947 were called Palk.
At least we've got you back another generation or so. Let us know on her if you need any further help. MC

Birth year is different to the death record above but there can't surely be two chaps with the same name?
British Army WWI Pension Records 1914-1920 Name: Stclair Randolph Ross-milbourne Estimated Birth Year: abt 1880 Age at enlistment: 38 Document Year: 1918 Regimental Number: 26524 Regiment Name: 2nd Dorset Regiment Number of images: 14
He enlisted 08 Feb 1918 in Kirkee, India for the duration of the war. He states he is a widower and gives his next of kin as his mother Mrs A L Ross of Poona. He was born in Bangalore and was an electrical engineer. His address is given as East Street, Poona.
There are no marriage details on the record but his two children are listed as: Winston Felix born 29/09/1908 in Madras Patience Elvira born 22/10/1909 in Jeypore.
He was 5' 7" tall and wore glasses to correct short sightedness.
All his service was in India and he was discharged 11 Nov 1920 to Poona.

Think we have the correct Arthur Harold.
Going from the census records this is his parents' marriage:
Marriages Jun 1894 Goodman Evelina Plympton 5b 443 PARKER Charles James Plympton 5b 443
Notice Evelina's maiden name.
Looks like Charles was named after his paternal grandmother and grandfather.

I googled Follett House, Broad Park (where Charles was headed in 1947) and one entry came up in a 1952 brochure for Crufts Dog Show.
A Mrs F.E. Skilton of Follett House, Broad Park, Oreston, Plymouth entered her long haired Daschund called "Wingjays Dantes Danger" in two classes.
Judith, does that name (Skilton, not the dog!) ring any bells?
Also, found this advert for a house in the Western Morning News, 3 Jan 1947:
"6 rooms & kitch: Torquay: Centl: vac possn. All partics. Letter only - Palk, Follett House, Broad Park, Oreston"
So, was Palk the person who lived at Follett House in 1947 (when Charles arrived there) and were they advertising a property they owned?
If we can find what linked Charles to that address we might be able to find a way back to his family - maybe it was the home of a family member?

Wonder if this is connected?
Passenger lists leaving UK 1890-1960
Name: Arthur Harold PARKER Date of departure: 18 November 1921 Port of departure: London Destination port: Bombay Destination country: India
Date of Birth: 1900 (calculated from age) Age: 21 Marital Status: Sex: Male Occupation: Piano Tuner Notes: Passenger recorded on: Page 2 of 6 Ship: MASHOBRA Official Number: 144222 Master's name: J H Galgey Steamship Line: British India Steam Navigation Co. Where bound: Bombay, India Square feet: Registered tonnage: 5117 Passengers on voyage: 95
His last address in the UK was 24 Hobart Street, Plymouth.
Might be a tenuous link but Plymouth was where Charles was headed when he arrived in England 1947.
EDIT: This is probably the birth of the chap on the shipping record.
