Lynne. in the era that your ancestors married it was very common for employers to establish the religous affilations of prospective employees. Many employers discrminated against certain religions also against single people etc etc, there were many and varied reasons why people changed religions sometimes theses changes were basically paper excercises to suit the situation at the time for whatever reason. |

Hi Laurence, thank you for your reply. I think you are right and that I will never really know, but I am sure it was for one of the reasons you highighted. I won't worry about trying to find the answer now - as you say, it would probably be impossible. |
