Personal choice Cynthia. Beverley, that happened to me since Ive attempted to experiment lol, oh dear oh dear :-( a post I put on the facebook Genes page has been removed, ho hum.

I've put a name into the search box on my tree - the box popped up with the correct person in it. I clicked on the name and it took me straight to that person - just as the old one did.


I think folk need to play around and experiment with the tree a bit more.


My only 'problem' is that the Save button at the bottom of the Details page is low down and I sometimes forget to click on it.


Otherwise, I am happy with the changes...........ooops gonna be the odd one out here I can see......... :-)

I had hoped with all the new jiggery pokey, super duper programmers, Genes Reunited sponsoring all over my TV --

they might have have achieved one basic principle --- just one vital item we needed from out trees

I have just looked at the new tree format and HATE it. For me the old format was great and I liked it far more than Ancestry, FMP and tribal pages; that's why I used it. Not sure what to do now except to write feedback to GR.

Bring back the old one please--- how many people agree with me ( want be renewing in the future )

Having the same problem as Ken2, when searching for someone the name comes up, but when I click on the name it just opens a new tree but at the root person, not the person I was searching for and clicked on.

It seems to me that the Programmers have been given the upper hand and have (like so many before them) produced a Whizzy Dizzy system "because they can"
Does not seem to matter whether it is practical or not..
They have I think totally ignored their customers in that they have failed to ask themselves fundamental questions like:

Is it fit for Purpose?

Does it make Data Entry easier?

Does it make searching information on the tree any easier?

Is it easier to see what information has been entered?

Is it easier to see attachements such as photographs?

Seems to me that the answer to all these questions is NO.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I have just looked at a few people and, so far, everything seems to be working OK.

I rarely do any work on this tree, preferring to make changes off-line, on FTM, and doing a GEDCOM every so often. It will be interesting to see what happens next time.

Having everything on FTM means that at least I don't have to worry about GR's changes losing my hard work.

I have looked at a few people and on The main page a guys surname is missing. When I open up the details it is there. :-| :-|

my sceen reader does not work now onthe details on my tree so it is impossible for me to do anything more on my tree

so now i will nt be able to cary on my tree on genes

so THANKS SO MUCH GENESFOR YOUR SO CALLED IMPROVEMENTS :-P

Anyone else having trouble with the Search This Tree facility?

Whenever I do a search for a name on my tree up pops a box with the found list. When I click on the name I want a new tree opens BUT still with the root person, not the searched for person!

have just checked my tree and everything is there even photos but when i tried to look at someone on my tree the name came up but when i clicked on it nothing happens.

I do not like the new format either and far prefferred the original simpleer format.
I have already suggested that the option for a split screen be brought back.
I see that one now has to click on record matches rather than see at a glance whether they relate to tree or other records.

There appear to be memory problems when trying to dosplay the tree and associate pages using IE8. It took 3 attempts to load the page and when I did try a tree match then I got an error message.

Not a happy bunny either.

I can't get my tree to load at all - when I click on Immediate or Full Family I get this message even though I havent clicked on the Maps tab..

We are currently still working on the Maps feature but don’t worry, it will be back soon and none of your data will be lost.
In the meantime check out your family tree in the Immediate View.

But I can't get to my Immediate Family view! Just going round in circles!

Hope they get it sorted soon.

Would you mind taking a look at some of the threads on the suggestions board. There are several threads that appear to be going unanswered by GR staff and the criticism of the site and GR staff for the lack of answers or explanations is growing more vehement by the day.

ed all my details have gone as well

I tried to put a couple of new ancestors on my tree and they have turned out totally mixed up.
I have John married to Jane with 4 children.
Child 3 is shown as married to child 4 and I keep getting message 'add a mother for child XX' when father and mother are already in place with date of marriage!
I don't think I'll be updating my tree on here any further till the bugs are ironed out.
(I'm contacting the support team too).

Hi Romany, I like the new version and have been experimenting with it over the last couple of weeks. I think you will find that your details and comments etc are still there, you just need to do some exploring.

Hi RomanyStar, this tree has been on the site for a while now, but we've just rolled it out to everyone. However, all the data should be there. It is really important that you send some examples of what is missing to our support team. We can then pass these details on to our technical team. I am sorry for any distress this is causing you but we will do our best to help you.
