It seems to me that the Programmers have been given the upper hand and have (like so many before them) produced a Whizzy Dizzy system "because they can"
Does not seem to matter whether it is practical or not..
They have I think totally ignored their customers in that they have failed to ask themselves fundamental questions like:

Is it fit for Purpose?

Does it make Data Entry easier?

Does it make searching information on the tree any easier?

Is it easier to see what information has been entered?

Is it easier to see attachements such as photographs?

Seems to me that the answer to all these questions is NO.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Having the same problem as Ken2, when searching for someone the name comes up, but when I click on the name it just opens a new tree but at the root person, not the person I was searching for and clicked on.

Bring back the old one please--- how many people agree with me ( want be renewing in the future )

I have just looked at the new tree format and HATE it. For me the old format was great and I liked it far more than Ancestry, FMP and tribal pages; that's why I used it. Not sure what to do now except to write feedback to GR.

I had hoped with all the new jiggery pokey, super duper programmers, Genes Reunited sponsoring all over my TV --

they might have have achieved one basic principle --- just one vital item we needed from out trees

the ability to print

I still like it. :-)


I've put a name into the search box on my tree - the box popped up with the correct person in it. I clicked on the name and it took me straight to that person - just as the old one did.


I think folk need to play around and experiment with the tree a bit more.


My only 'problem' is that the Save button at the bottom of the Details page is low down and I sometimes forget to click on it.


Otherwise, I am happy with the changes...........ooops gonna be the odd one out here I can see......... :-)

Personal choice Cynthia. Beverley, that happened to me since Ive attempted to experiment lol, oh dear oh dear :-( a post I put on the facebook Genes page has been removed, ho hum.

Feel free Jonesey!! Good question as well.

Hi Everyone

I am afraid I fall into the Hate it camp. Have been playing around for a while and so far have discovered half of my photos missing and none of the census info etc I had added is anywhere to be found.

Notes at the bottom are a pain to scroll to read, the font is horrible and hurts my eyes.

Names have been clipped on the tree to make them unrecognisable - even the shortest ones!!

If this continues I won't be renewing when current sub ends. :-|

I am glad that I removed my tree during an instability of the site.

ok so I don't use the tree facility really, ( mine is all on paper) but I did put details of my mother on and grandparents...now if I click the slider for details ( eg place of birth ) I have a band down the left hand side of the board of about 1 inch, in which those details can be viewed , if I am prepared to view them 4 letters at a time while scrolling sideways....?????

I could weep at these changes, not only does it look dreadful it's cumbersome to move around in, I also have the problem that when I search for someone and click on the link nothing happens...............please, please go back to the old format.

the updates for all the print options have not been included i this upgrade - they are to follow later

Someone else has said that.....maybe some more tinkering? When you DO get on, let me know.... cos I really like the tree.....just don't tell anyone :-D

Snap Sally, Genes dont appear to be holding up their hands saying 'Sorry, we've b*ggered up again' and no promise of sorting this mess out.......on the Facebook page there is no apology or admittance. PS, Rose youve given me a brilliant idea many thanks, my leftover rolls of wallpaper! Will write another tree out, immediate lines only. Have you done it in little boxes? This site seems to run slow now as well.
