The 1911 census that is... What is the point of filling in details of name, birth place, where they were living county town etc if all of that is totally ignored and a list of names appear at the other end of the country. |

I agree with Sylvia, the official 1911 has the best search engine and when you have found what you think is a match you can look it up on another site. |

There was a statement in ancestry acknowledging problems / omissions that would be put right. |

I too am having trouble finding a family on the 1911 using Ancestry. |

On Ancestry if you display any image from the 1911 census there is a line above the image of the form County > parish > enumeration district. |

That's interesting KenSE - but a right palaver if you haven't a clue where they might be. |

Yes, it's not too bad if you know where the head of the houshold should be but almost impossible otherwise apart from using the search facility of the 1911 site. |

I think it is a case of incomplete transcription...it's in the summary but not in the full census. |

It's a bit unreasonable of you to expect to find an index entry for a county Ancestry haven't yet indexed. |

Indeed, Ken; as I posted yesterday "There was a statement in ancestry acknowledging problems / omissions that would be put right." |

mgnv...I too HATE the Ancestry New Search with a vengeance! However all too often when it decides to default to the new search it just WILL NOT revert to old search...and I can't get Ancestry to acknowledge they have a problem. |

I see what you mean. They haven't got the images for half of Newport, no wonder they haven't transcribed them. |
