My nan Florence Davies born 1893 Wolverhampton was an inmate in Surrey Rescue Laundry Home December 1912. I know this from papers i recieved from Barnardos concerning her brother.
It says in these papers dated 1912 that 2 years before she had be admitted to Birmingham City Mission Laundry Home. On 1911 census which was taken 2 April she is shown as an inmate in Birmingham home. I find this strange, It could be Barnardos have got dates wrong as otherwise if she was admitted 1910 and then 1912 she was in Surrey home thats 3 years in institutions! I imagined she was in Birmingham Pregnant and then sent to Surrey to have baby then released. On information i have been told regarding these homes i assumed she was pregnant. Any thoughts regarding this folks???
