Right have just had a quick peek at FreeBMD

Found this:

Sept. 1901 W. Derby 8b 667
2 couples:
Albert Smith & Janet Meikle
Martha Alice Smith & Archbald Dawber

Was this a double marriage?

Have you looked at FreeBMD

All you need to do is enter his name and a year range of about 2 years before birth of 1st child. Also just choose the county of Lancashire.
From this you will get a selection marriages. Click on the reference number of any you think are possibles and up will come the names of all others married using this ref. usually by this late date only 2 couples per record.

Also you can find the birth registrations of the children by entering their surname & mothers maiden name.

Also have you found them on the 1911 census, this will tell you how many years they had been married by this time and how many children born and living. :-)
