I got round that last year by first cancelling my membership, or not renewing, and then rejoining as a new customer.

Hi All . Just saw this. Ancestry is offering a 20% for the states and world. But this is the only if you have not been a member before. They say this in fine the fine print.
''''Introductory prices are only available for new customers and not for renewal of current memberships.''''''
So if you have never had either of those. Would that make it a new membership...

The new family tree maker is out. I saw it offered for $39.99 That would be US I think. But did not see anywhere that it had a ancestry membership with it.
I was offered a 20% off world just 2 weeks ago If I would upgrade . Wish I had said yes. But the cost was still too much of me

In their newsletter (received 19/9/11) Ancestry.com offered 20% off on their US Deluxe and World Deluxe subs. They quoted monthly figures which work out to US$124.32 & US$239.40 p.a.

Thanks Susan, I'll take a look at that too.

Don't forget that you can still get a 25% discount on any Ancestry subscription if you buy it through Quidco. I have received this discount this year, and many others through the Quidco site, which is only £5 per year to join, which is paid from your discounts anyway.

Hope this is helpful,
Susan

I rang on the o8oo free call from New Zealand last week. I had made a misread initially when I took out my sub & I realised my error when I went to renew. Explained my mistake straight away. The operator questioned me carefully to establish my needs & I received exc. assistance to get the most appropriate sub. deal It was certainly better than what I had.Was told that it is surprising more people don't maximise usage of the several free trials available. When the order of these is chosen carefully it can be a big saving before one has to start paying out big time.

Even though I was calling from half way around the world the staff member took her time to ensure I was happy with her suggestions, etc. The whole call took 25mins & I wasn't hassled at any time. A very pleasant experience.

Well that is a lot of food for thought. Seems you really do have to bully them, which depends what mood I am in. Normally I can stand my ground but sometimes feel vulnerable. Debs will use that ploy.

I rang them as my membership is due for renewal in 10 days. I said I was a National Trust member and they are offering a massive 25% discount to Ancestry.
The young man said that was for new mebers only so I said that as a member of Anc for 6 years I felt let down by the treaement existing members get and pointed out that FMP give a loyalty discount of 10%.
After a bit of chat I finally got 10% discount off my renewal.
If you are not offered a discount ask to speak to a superior.

Yes Chrissie will have to pluck up courage, but I can still hear that womans voice reprimanding me.

On other hand might try FMP as I have heard that sometimes you can find things that have been transcribed wrong on Ancestry.

At £28-£35 including 6 months Ancestry Premium membership (Worth £77), FTM2011 Platinum is still a good deal just to get the Ancestry membership. No need to install the software if you do not wish to do so.

FTM can be used to create as many family trees as you wish. You can have several at the same time if you wish.

Chrissie2394 Report 3 Oct 2011 12:48

Can you only use Familytreemaker to build one tree or can it be used several times.
