As many of you know, one can look up the 1850-1930 US census transcriptions at:
https://www.familysearch.org/s/collection/list#page=1®ion=NORTH_AMERICA
The 1890 census was 99.9% destroyed by fire. A couple of weeks back, FS linked the 1910/20 images to the transcription. Now the only unlinked years are 1880, 1930 (plus 1890). Before 1850, there was not a full listing of names in a h/h - just the head of h/h, and # in various age/sex categories.
I'll give an example of how to get free access to 1880, 1930 images below.
Here's an 1880 look up on FS

For the image, go to http://www.archive.org/details/1880_census
Click Iowa, then reel 365, then read online, and we get: http://www.archive.org/stream/10thcensus0365unit#page/n0/mode/2up Now change the URL to, say: http://www.archive.org/stream/10thcensus0365unit#page/n463/mode/1up
Find a nice name on the page and look them up on FS (a nice name is one that's clear so there's no transcription worries, and a bit unusual so we're not stuck with 300 John Smiths to examine) I picked - Line 19 James M Mills a=61 - and the look up got - Page: 498 It's a surprise it's so far out (maybe it always is in 1880), but when I check the header, I'm not even in Grant Twp - I'm in Indian Village Twp.
http://www.archive.org/stream/10thcensus0365unit#page/n430/mode/1up is in Howard Twp.
http://www.archive.org/stream/10thcensus0365unit#page/n400/mode/1up is in Grant Twp, - Line 3 Jannet Sloss a=38 - and the FS look up got - Page: 467
The image I want is: http://www.archive.org/stream/10thcensus0365unit#page/n393/mode/1up
This William wasn't my g grandad's uncle, but: CATHERINE MESS - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Marriage: 10 NOV 1845 Old Deer, Aberdeen, Scotland ISABELLA JANE SLESSOR - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 31 AUG 1853 Kirkmaiden By Drummore, Wigtown, Scotland VICTOR ALBERT SLESSOR - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Birth: 20 SEP 1858 Rosemarkie, Ross And Cromarty, Scotland ALBERT OLREY CUNINGHAM SLESSON - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 29 JAN 1862 Bride, Isle Of Man, England
1930's similar, except for the image, go to http://www.archive.org/details/1930_census Here's an FS look up I did for another post recently.

As before, I change the image # in the URL, and also switch to /1up, do an FS look up of a name on the image, and adjust my guess accordingly, until I get
