I agree with you Dee, one thing for sure between all of you today you firmed up in my mind a bit more about my fathers side of the family, good or bad! I know there is more to come yet with that same generation. |

Well done Dee, it came as a shock to me and i guess that i was reluctant to accept it. I had to have a stiff drink when i got the marriage cert. My Mum's side is as bad she got married 4 times and had at least one illigitment child when she was 16 in 1934. no wonder I'm cracking up!! |

Yes Kath Barrington Forsyth Benson is my Dad. he apparently changed his name by deed poll sometime between 1948 and 52 to Forsyth-Benson which is how i got my handle. both him and his brother it would seem were given Forsyth as an additional middle name. My Uncle dropped the Benson and his family are all Forsyth. |

Thanks Dee and Kath, it could well be that Amelia and Mildred are one and the same and that he was married before either of them and as you say couldn't afford to divorce. That's why if i can find details of the act ;The Forsyths' somwhere else, newspapers etc, they probably had agents to book them their gigs, there would have been organizations that they would have been part of. It's just knowing where to look?? |

Thanks Dee and Kath, it is well posible that is the case, its in the right area of the country. both dad and my uncle never talked about the family which is strange as there was theater connections, i was on stage myself at the age of 3, yet it was never talked about. |

If I'm not mistaken, I think from my searches the name Barrington comes into your own ancestry doesn't it Martin? |

This is most likely the death for Lawrence. he was registered as Lawrence Barrington Benson. .....someone has put a note saying he was christened with the name Hargreaves added; |

I don't think you should write off the marriage to Ada. If Frank left her and the children then the rest of the family may not have known about them. |

Thanks everyone, you have all found what i found but here is another twist my Dad's older brother Frank Reginald Forsyth Benson born 1908, his mother on his certificate is Amelia Isabel Benson formaly Malvern, my first thought they were sisters or cousins but with not finding a birth for Mildred I'm stuck. The 'Millie' bit could easily apply to either of the two women. |

This is the only birth I can see anywhere that is near to the right age. Perhaps Mildred was one of her middle names:- |
