Gwyn, thanks for your input. There are quite a few baptisms in Corscombe for Saunders and I have been working my way through them on the Dorset OPC site. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find them elsewhere! |

I have today recieved a copy of the Removal Order for George Saunders, his wife Mary and children William, James and Sarah from Bradford Abbas to Corscombe in 1822. |

You may find it on the National Archives site.I found one for 1780,s for one of my ancestors whose husband had deserted her and the children and she asked for Parish Relief .She was issued with a removal order to Wimbledon where she was born |

A removal order was issued because the family were applying for Relief under the Poor Laws in a place other than the one they were from. It forced them to return to the place of their last legal settlement and make their claim there. |

While researching my husbands GGG grandfather I came across a 'Removal Order' for him, his wife and 3 children from one village to another. Why was someone served with one of these orders and is it possible to get a copy of such an order. |
