i only have a small tree on GR just to find other poeple with the same line as me

When we go around grave yards we take photo's of the family graves just for my records though

How often are people getting notified of hot matches? I haven't had any since November, despite adding quite a few more names and updating a considerable number so they fit with the standardized place format, etc.

It must be 14/15 months since I had any hot matches and I have well over a thousand names on my tree and like you have updated a lot of relies and added a couple of hundred names in this last year

Last I saw of Hot Matches was in December.

One. There's still a note from GR on my main page - Hot Match from a Brand New Member.

Sent a message to the BNM ........... and it hasn't been read yet.

One match - I have nearly 18,000 on my tree.

Not too bothered, used to get pages and pages of them, 99% were Not Matches.

I've weeded out most of the ones I received that weren't matches, but I would still like to receive new ones. I have in the past made quite a few new contacts that way, and have been able to share info. Otherwise it all seems a bit of a pointless exercise...

Quite aggree with you Janet with the help of hot matches I found a cousion of my husbands we didn't know existed and managed to meet up it was great as we all took our info and pics for each other and have kept in touch

I have had some great hot matches in the past and really miss them ;-)

I wonder how exact the match for place of birth has to be.

I don't add 'England' to places of birth... So if it is an exact match needed then that is probably why I haven't had any since last year, it won't match to all those who do!

I do add England to places of birth and I don't get any hot matches either.

I am shocked as I haven't been on here for over a year due to other commitments just haven't had time and guess what? with over a thousand names on my tree still not even 1 hot match what's going on :-(

If you haven't put any new names into your tree then it won't have much luck finding new hot matches over the ones it has already told you about.

It should tell you on your home page how many times it has looked for you. Mine tells me that it searched four times in August but there is no notification about September or October.

I get notifications every couple of weeks, and I haven't added new names to my tree for months.

The notification on the Home Page needs looking at. I've got a list of HotMatches, which I HAVE looked at, but the list says I have not. grrrrrrr

I got one yesterday......... matched the name, place & year of birth..... but with different parents. Not even a tepid match.

I haven't had a single match in well over a year

I got a whole bunch of Hot Matches last month... and what a joke!

Individuals "matched" with people in other member trees ....
I got:
Completely different names
Males matched to females
Totally different places of birth, including different countries
Our" matches" (some burny hot with flames) were also born up to 100yrs apart.

How can Joe Bloggs born USA 1900 match with Mary Smith born Glasgow 1840?
I spent hours looking at every single hot match ever received and have discarded almost all of them.

I also have one particular contact who shares my Scottish Ancestry
We share many dozens of indentical rellies, yet so far GR has hot matched just 3 of them?

I have access to the other persons tree and can see that there is not one scrap of difference in our info .

So, it did exactly what it said on the tin, matching name, place & year of birth.....!

On the other hand, perhaps one of you is wrong about the parents. Worthy of further investigation?
