I'm trying to find someone on the behalf of extended family.
The family story is that Eleanor Alice Clapton died while still a child. The problem is I can't find a death for her.
She was born in Mile End in 1911. Her parents were James & Rose Clapton. They were living in Mile End at the time of the census but Eleanor wasn't born yet so of course she doesn't appear on the census.
What else could have happened to her. The lady whom I'm looking into this for is my third cousin and she remembers her gran's other siblings but only knows of this one by name and was told that she died as a child.
Unfortunately great aunt Lily is no longer with us to ask.
Hope someone has some idea's.
Thanks Gypsyjoe

Helen - She was supposed to have died so I can't see her getting married.
Andy - on the one I checked she didn't appear but I like you don't have subs to double check I need to wait till ancestry has it on and then when the archives are next open on a Saturday before I could double check.
Glitterbaby - seeing that makes me wonder this Eleanor had different parents I wonder if the child may have lived with it's grandparents then for a time and that is why Lily though she was a sister and instead of dying she went back to her parents.
I have Rose's and James's marriage both were widowed before marriage to each other.
Andy - those are the other siblings born to Rose and James.

Thanks PigletsPal - I guess the reasoning to believing the fact that she died as a child was because none of her nieces or nephews ever met her and they are all under the understanding that she died as a child.
Sylvia and Vera thanks for those. I guess I'll go back to the family and re-question them.
Thanks again all.

Piglet´s Pal. The story may well have more truth to it than you think. My grandfather was a gold engraver & apparently at the end of each day, the gold leaf was swept up from the floors & weighed. If the weight of the sweepings plus what had been used didn´t tally, the workers were under suspicion of stealing it. Can´t imagine that it would have had a very high value, but wages in the jewellery trade were very low & I suppose every little helped. Marion

Marion, According to The Museum in The Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, men were not allowed to wear trousers with turn-ups, just in case any gold dust got caught in them.

Yes Jan to Thomas Wilson he was run over by his cart apparently . It would appear Thomas managed to get Rose Preggers before he died though he may not have known sadly.
