Hi everyone,
I am trying to find out about my 4x GGrandfather who was listed as a shipmaster/owner on different certs .
On the poorhouse application in 1861 for his daughter he is listed as a shipowner dec.
On his marriage cert on 18/12/1801 it states Robert Clark Shipmaster in Limekilns (wife Isabel Anderson)
I contacted Fife Family History and the librarian very kindly gave me the following;
she traced 2 Robert Clarksthrough "The Mariners of Fife 1700-1800" by David Dobson
1st Clark Robert skipper in Limekilns 1783 and 2nd Clark ...... master of the Euphan of LImekilns from Aberdeen to the Forth in 1751.
I have ruled the 2nd one out as he would have been too old to have married in 1801 and be dec by 1861.
I tried searching the customs records at the NA in Edinburgh but as I dont know the name of his ship havent found anything.
Can anyone give me any hints as I am stumped.
Many Thanks
Linda
