Thank you Kathryn. I'm at a brick wall and don't want to go off in the wrong direction but don't even want to order birth certificate until I'm sure I've got the right one! |

The census should give a place of birth,if so that is where the birth will be registered. |

Yes you are correct, the only way is to shell out the money I'm afraid. If you are lucky you may be able to narrow down the numbers if there are corresponding entries on the IGI though. |

Hi, I am searching for the birth record for my great grandfather PETER McKIE or MCKEE, b. abt 1872 - 1875. My family is in Scotland however I can not find any matches in Scotland but there are a few England births listed that may be it. |
