Have just found the name of a relative who has word Port before his surname. None of his siblings or other realtive have this so far. Could you pease suggest where I could start to research this Please |

if you get Joseph birth cert it will give you mums name then you can look for the marriage. that cert should tell you their ages and fathers names so you can back fom there |

It might be a maiden name of someone further back in the family. My grandfather's middle name was actually the maiden name of his mother's mother. It could also be the surname of someone the family knew or admired. My grandfather's uncle had the middle names Nicholson Swift which do not appear at all in the family so may just be something they saw and liked. |

I do have his fathers marraige certificate and it has his father as deceased. The problem is that Alfred has put Twickenham, High Wycombe and Cookton, Bucks as his place of birth. Can not seem to find an Alfed, Have not researched Alfred in Twickenham yet, so fingers crossed. Thanks for your help. |
