Google, yahoo, bing ...etc .....
I haven't been at this long .... lol .... about 5 yrs now, but I have found alot of info - more so recently - just by using search engines.
If you have a name of a person & place, you'll be amazed at what comes up in searches .... so many people keep blogs these days & even post family history in them.
Also there are many Parish churches that have web sites & have local records archieved online - nearly every local council have at the very least links to local archieves and info for local family history ...etc .... try doing a search for "town name" + "archieves", you may be suprised by result.
