Can anyone help me find a marriage for
Mary Ann Duce b. 1845 Wales to David Hughes born c 1882 Pennsylvania, USA ?

Here's what I have so far:

Mary Ann on 1901 census in England
her arrival at Ellis Island on 19 Dec 1904
I then lose track of her until
She is on 1910 census in Luzerne, Pennsylvania USA as the wife of David Hughes and apparently married for one year and now calling herself Ann or Annie
I also have her on the 1920 USa census - both through someone's kind help.

I would be very grateful for any help in tracing the marriage

Mary Ann born 1845 married David born 1882? That's really robbing the cradle!

Yes those are they - sorry about the date mix-up.

It's her mariage I am trying to trace after her mysterious name change!

According to the Ellis Island site Mary Ann was a widow when she immigrated in 1904. Actually it says married but the widow is written above it. However she says passage was paid by husband. She gives name of her father as nearest relative, Thos. Roberts.

Hi Sat Nav - you are right that she was married when she set off!
Margaret - yes she seems to suddenly have become a widow during the journey! Her husband paid for her transport but he stayed in England

Dee - Thanks for that. I didn't know about her sister neing there, on the Ellis Island site it says she was going to join her father Thomas Roberts

Was there no sign of David Hughes on the 1930 census - it doesn't say she is a widow?

I still need to try and trace that marriage - any ideas please?

Many apologies for the very late reply - I have been having 'puter problems!!

Thank you so much for the 1910 Margaret Parsons info.

Perhaps her father emmigrated earlier as well. I had been making an assumption (I know NEVER assume anything!!), that because her father's name was on the marriage cert that he was actually at the wedding and therefore emigrated after 1898. ( I am now kicking myself!).
In fact the Roberts witness was John who could I suppose be a brother - but I won't assume that lol!
