America to start a lacemaking business there. Any help appreciated. Barbara

You might need to give a bit more information for anyone to be able to help you.....
What year?
Names?
What area were they from?
Have you found them on any census prior to their emigtaion to America? if so please give details.

I don't know what year, the only name I have is Chamberlain. I
found some notes written by my Aunt concerning her
Grandmothers sister Aunt Polly.
I do not know which sister is Polly as she had 5 born about the 1850's.
Their surname was Hind. The note read Aunt Polly went twice to America first class to visit them. I'm afraid this is all I have. I
just need some ideas on how to go about searching.

No Polly in this lot, but she may have been born later... These are all children of William and Sarah....
ADOLPHUS HIND - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 22 SEP 1822 Saint Mary, Nottingham, Nottingham, England 2. WILLIAM CHAMBERLIN HIND - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 09 NOV 1817 Saint Mary, Nottingham, Nottingham, England 3. RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN HIND - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 09 SEP 1819 Saint Mary, Nottingham, Nottingham, England 4. AUGUSTUS CHAMBERLIN HINDE - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 05 NOV 1824 Saint Mary, Nottingham, Nottingham, England To help youn find this family you need to narrow down the search a bit more..You mention " she had about 5 born about the 1850`s"
So would they be Hinds or Chamberlins? from what you`ve said already it sounds like 2 generations of the Hind family married a Chamberlin...is that correct?

A quick search of the 1880 US census brings up 225 people with the surname Chamberain/Chamberlin who were born in England
I looked at a few but didn`t find any lacemakers.

I am not sure if two generations married the chamberlains. could you please check and see, if it is possible, if Sarah Chamberlain had any siblings
perhaps Polly is a nickname. The grandmother s name is Frances Hind
b 1851 daughter of Adolphus Hind 1822 -1894 and Mira Smith.
Thank you for your efforts Nicky. Barbara

Mmm thank you Ann of green gables I will have to have a good look at all this
The family seems to be quite involved with lace. I wonder if they all show on
the 1891 and 1901 census, that may prove if and when they went to America.
That is if this is the family that did. Is there any way to check shipping
records for this time frame. I t seems odd that it was mentioned in the letter
about 2 separate first class trips to America. There must have been some money there. Thank you Ann Barbara

There's a tree on Ancestry by David King, with this family. He seems to have several Adolphuses and other repeats, but only one Mary. He doesn't have any of them going to America. He's taken the Hind family back further.
Frances Mira Hind b 1851 married William King.
The tree has loads of photos.
