I will have a look into that Ozi - thanks, I couldn't believe the price of the other one.

Goodness me, that's horrifying.

Have you tried the local history association for the area? They often have copies of the records and will probably search much more cheaply.

Not sure whether this counts as something interesting Ozi but I have received an email from one of the churches telling me where the records are held and that they charge £40 per hour to research the information.

Stunned!!!!!

Thanks for looking Ozi, I do appreciate it.

The whole thing is a total mystery to me hun, I have emailed and sent a letter to three of the churches yesterday where the baptisms for the children I have found were to see with they have anything else on their records, hopefully I will get a response, fingers crossed.

Thanks

Same here. I found a Pheby (mistranscribed Phehy) Brown in 1861 who is a possible candidate but unable to find anything else.

Hi Ozi

The only thing is I can't find a marriage for a Phoebe??? - This is so frustrating.

Thanks

Ozibird Report 15 May 2010 23:37

Looking at 1881 the wife could be Phoebe which means the birth index for Elizabeth Phoebe is a real chance.

To be honest Ozi I'm not sure I presume she was Charles and Emily's daughter - but on the 1881 before Charles and Emily were married Charles was on there with someone called Pheolis and she was wife to the head of house which he was - but I can't find a marriage, again I have even got the original census and spelling looks like it has been transcribed - I have even tried it as Phylis

Any chance she was Charles's daughter but not Elizabeth's?

Hi Ozi

Yes Elizabeth on the 1901 Census was 14 - what I find weird and what I suppose I am presuming is that she must have died before the 1911 census because on the 1911 census they then have another daughter which I think is supposed to say Elizabeth (and not Elibezbeth) who is 11 so clearly not the one from the 1901 census but I cannot find either of them??

Is the 14 year old Elizabeth in 1901 a daughter? Have you found her?

Just had a quick look on Ancestry and George Frederick is unfortunately not a relation - different parents Louise is strange really we found her marriage and children but couldn't find the birth - can find two deaths under her married name - ie: Louisa Lawson and a Louise Lawson so now I am even more confused as both born 1907 and to be honest on the census she is Louise but on her marriage she is Louisa and I know the marriage is definately correct.

It can be so hard at times

Hi Ozi

My goodness you have been busy - THANK YOU so much for looking, it really is appreciated.

The list I had was William Benjamin (1889), Charles (1887, Herbert Victor (1890), Thomas (1891), Philip James (1895), Rose Annie (1896), Caroline (1897), Marie May (1906) and Louise (1907)

I thought there was a Percy but my brother said that he was in the Life Guards (Army) but to be honest he did tell me something else and that was wrong so it may have been someone else in the Life Guards which could mean that the Percy you found could be the right one.

Herbert, Thomas, Philip, Rose and Caroline all died as infants - I have seen the baptism records on Ancestry for all of the above apart for Marie May (who is my mum) and Louise.

HI

Unfortunately that is what I was doing all afternoon but with no luck, thats why I started thread to see whether anyone could give me any tips about looking at parish records at the actual churches, etc

Thanks

Ozibird Report 12 May 2010 22:26

So there could be one between 1887-1889; definitely one or two between 1891 & 1895; and between 1897 & 1903; probably between 1903 & 1907; perhaps after 1907.

Have a look for births & deaths in those times in the districts they were living. See how you go.
