Hello all.
For our menfolk...........The link which Anne has so kindly provided is for the 2 year old thread re our Evelyn's missing mother. Evelyn has been keen to trace her maternal roots for a long time but her mother remains obstinately hidden. Several of us have been working on this over the last 2 years but have just hit brickwall after brickwall despite our best efforts.
You are very welcome to read through the rather long thread at your leisure and see what you think. A 'man's eye' view may be just what we need :-D
I'm glad it's Thursday......Tuesdays and Wednesday tend to be a bit hectic what with one thing and another so it's good not to feel too pressured. To be honest, the same old thing scenario is quite welcome at times..... :-D
I do seem to have been hither and thither on here I must admit. You will see my name crop up quite often because I try and help newcomers find their way around this site - letting them know that they have replies if they don't return to their thread - that sort of thing.
I very rarely do lookups as I am not as gifted as some on here so I just help where I can and respond to threads which interest me.
After a very pleasant morning it is now raining and I have one more load of washing to put out.......grrrrrrrr
Love to all. Cx.

Morning all - 7am again - dark - dismal & wet - but warm for the time of year
Knew you couldn't keep away Robert - Hows the shell - fully weather proofed for the winter i hope - have you had the shell central heating checked?
Thank you Sue for letting me know i wasn't talking to myself - as Cynthia is popping about all over the place at the moment
The search for Diane continues - I liked the Doreen Shannon idea - i could see a link - Doreen - Diane - have to admit Diane sounds a lot more interesting as a name & holds a little more sparkle
Should we follow this one & see if she did just vanish - Cynthia - was there a Doreen in the Nicholson school records - could you ask your friend - if you haven't already done so.
Well not a lot happening in my area - same old dull office work - we all seem to be a bit down in the dumps round here at the moment - think its that time of year.
Oh well - here we go again - start of another day - same old thing.
Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Arthur,
I don't know a quarter of what goes on in this thread and this lot on here just confuse me.
I just sit back and watch without getting too involved. That way I can lead a comparatively quiet life!!!
Love to all.

Hi Everyone
Anne I will talk to you.....Just got in from shopping with the pregnant Granddaughter, she is really suffering bad with morning sickness and I feel so sorry for her because I suffered with that myself and I can still remember it .
We went to get her a scrip today that the Doctor gave her for it so I hope it helps as she has another five months to go yet.
Very hot today ,but rain on the way again tonight so we will not have to water the garden.
I think the thread is slow because we have everyone trying to find Diane....she is very hard to find I wonder why ,it seems very strange that there is no sign of her.
Another Grandson is going for his Drivers Licence ,just another one to worry about ,by this time next year they will be driving, can't say I am looking forward to that I am such a worry wort.
Try to pop in later. Love to you all <3 <3 <3

Morning all - i am on 7am all week - so a little relived on the OT front.
Off to the Outlaws on Saturday for the weekend
Great news Sylvia - bet you feel a whole lot better now - hope you don't need the radiation treatment.
Another busy day yesterday - some concert tickets went on sale at 8am - so loads of calls - esp as the ticket website crashed after the first 10 mins of the sale starting. Don't know what they thought we could do about it.
We do get some silly phone calls - a client called in for a limo service from Dubai airport to his hotel - asked if we could ask the company not to send an Arab driver (in dubai!) - He had heard they were very reckless on the road & wanted a safer British driver - as said we get some very strange requests.
Latest strange requsts - for a family villa in Tel Aviv ! - A pantomine in Hong Kong over Christmas for a family of young children ! - Which London musical would be good to take a baby of 1 year to ! (granny wanted to treat the young couple & send them out as a family) nice idea but not very practical -
Well better go & look a the worklist for today
take care all <3 <3 <3 <3

Hi Everyone
Wonderful news Sylvia You must all be relieved,I can't believe the amount of people with Breast Cancer these days . It seems every other person you bump into has a friend or rellie with it ,I wonder why it is so rampent these days. Radiation treatment would have been good to get out of two I would emagine.
In OZ we have a free breast screening every two years and I have been on it now for 20 yrs,we have no history of Breast Cancer in the family but it is better to be safe than sorry. My mother died at 49 with womb Cancer, don't think that counts.
Well it is hot today but the rain is not far away ...Thursday I think they are saying so I am busy washing ,it is drying as fast as I can peg it on the line.
Back to the grindstone, drop in later.

Hi all xxx
Reece ..... take care of yourself, shingles can be very painful. My m-i-l developed it about 6 months after they retired.
We had a lovely weekend
We went to see the Vancouver Opera production of West Side Story. It was very good. The two leads (Tony and Maria) were played by opera singers, most of the rest of the cast were from musical and dance circles. Apparently quite a few opera companies around the world have added it to their repertoire, but this was a first for Canada.
One of our friends emailed me this morning, saying how much they had enjoyed the show, but found it was much less sanitized than had been the original production in London in the 1950s. I had wondered about that! Much of the action might have been described as "not suitable for all members of the family" :-0. I have never seen it as a stage production, only the movie.
Then we had friends arrive yesterday to stay overnight, before OH took them to the airport this morning to go down to San Diego, to board a cruise ship to Hawaii. They haven't been to stay for years, so we had a good old natter!
The weather is lovely today ..... sunny and windy. Just a great Fall day. And it is Hallowe'en!
Went to see the surgeon this morning ... only had to wait 15 minutes past the appointment time
She went through the path report ................ everything is clear, although I did apparently have pre-cancerous and "atypical cells" of lobular cancer spread throughout the tissue
so da*n good job it was found so early.
I was referred automatically to the Cancer Agency to see a radiation specialist ......... but the surgeon sees no need for me to have any further treatment. But the radiation guy makes the final decision ......... and she said he is a very practical guy.
so it looks like I won't have to have any radiation ....... we'll know more next Monday.

Hi Everyone
Anne the Aussies loved William and I am sure they will love Kate as well. William is just like his mother so natural he will make a good king I think.
I had a good day today and got a lot of housework done and all is back to normal, ready for the next lot over Christmas .I have just been reminded it is only 8 weeks away now.
I am no where near ready for Christmas and I have no idea what to get for everyone .
Weather today was hot 28c ,came all of a sudden though so not ready for it yet. Funny thing is we have rain forecast for Thursday so back to winter again ,I don't mind the rain much prefer it to Summer any day.
Well I am off to bed we Aussies are now 8 hours ahead of you instead of 7 seeing as you altered your clocks.
Talk to you all tomorrow <3

Hello all..................
I enjoyed watching the Queen's visit to Australia and yes, she does do marvellously for her age. When she smiles, it's like the whole room lights up isn't it? Her outfits were lovely too. Philip is beginning to age - which is totally understandable - he was such a handsome young man.
I enjoy Chinese meals too and our local takeaway does the best Spring rolls ever!
Hope Reece is feeling a little better and the medication is helping. I was fortunate when I got Shingles because I got to the doctor's in time to take some special pills which warded off the worse of things.
Evelyn dear, I know I quite enjoy housework but, in your case, I am sure you can give it a miss - 7 layers of dust will look similar to one layer :-D
It's much more important to look after yourself and Ron.
I had an autism meeting to go to this morning and off I went ready to face the challenges which may lay ahead. What happens......?? After sending out the agenda, the Chairperson doesn't turn up :-|
Makes you wonder just how much money is wasted in this way by the Health Services and Social Services. Grrrrrrr.
OH is going for a haircut soon..........it's very expensive as they charge a search fee :-D :-D :-D
Take care all. Cx.

Happy Halloween
7am again - I see we had no visitors yesterday
Oh well - nothing like talking to yourself to cheer you up - or depress you - one or the other
No one dare mention SNOW in New York & Washington - flight cancellations all over the place & with the Australian airline playing silly wotsits as well - it was bad on the phones yesterday
Well here goes to another fun day at the workhouse.
Keep well - keep safe - keep smiling
Take care all ;-) <3 <3 <3

Morning all - logging in a bit late - have been here since 7am this morning
It has been pretty busy - so first breathing space avail
Reece Sorry to hear your news - get well soon - have a good rest & forget the housework
Evelyn - again take the chance of a good sit down - I agree *** the housework
Yes Cynthia - I am working again - Needs must - had a call last night for me to come in as i was needed - at least someone wants me
Sue - it will be nice to have the house to yourself again - you love your Chinese don't you - i think the Queen enjoyed herself - I do agree - I don't think the Ozzies like Charles that much - Not sure how they feel about William either - I can see them getting their Independance once the Queen dies.
Personally I like Camilla & Charles is lot more relaxed these days & old Camilla does do a lot for different charities & she keeps well out of the limelight & publicity - which is nice & always takes a back seat to Charles - at least she keeps their private life private - Off my soapbox again now.
Sylvia - keep up the good work - Hows the weightlifting doing?
Josie - any news on the job front - if i had the money i would seriously consider emigrating - i am so sick & tired of the Uk - the weather - the cold - the lack of money here & so on :-( all full of gloom
Arthur - so please the system is working for you - thats what I had planned for today - but was offered work & that has to come first
Sally - good to see you on here again -
I will check my emails when i get home to see if I have been given credits as well - I didn't complain - but any credits are always welcome.
So in future - i think I may have to change my name to "Workhouse Annie" as been rechristened by Evelyn - apart from i don;t like being called Annie & everyone else seems to like it - given up telling them all at work now - makes them worse. Its funny if I call abroad - they all call me Anne e - very weird.
Well only 2 hours to go now - hope it goes very fast - was going to do a roast today - but look waht happens when you plan ahead - no good comes of it.
OH is going to put the oven on when he leaves to collect me - so I can just put the meat in when I get in - its going to be a late lunch today. Roast beef with most of the trimmings if I can get it sorted in time. Special offer in Asda yesterday - 2 small joints for the price of one -
Evelyn - looks like your thread may have a Brighton connection as well - will keep my eye on it in case i am needed - still checking out Dover Castle for you - but nothing striking there
Cynthia - do you think we could go in partnership & write a book on the hunt for Diane? ;-) ;-)
Such a pain i am here in the office today as i wanted to see the Indian GP - always love to watch the first race at a new track - OH is going to tape some of it for me. Its going to be a sad year next year when it all goes to Sky - OH has vowed not to watch any of the GP's - he has said its either all of them or none of them. Such a petulant child some times :-P :-P
Well I had better love & leave you all - just under 2 hours to go - shouldn't compalin as nothing to do at the moment
May get a chance to pop in again - in early tomorrow morning as well by prior request.
Take care all - keep smiling :-D <3 <3

Hi Everyone
Looks like we all got 30 credits and so we should too,the site was very bad there for a while at times I could not get in at all.
We have had a very busy weekend ,the queen has been in Perth for chogm so a lot of people came down to Busselton to get away from the very large crowds with the queen .
I think she had a wonderful time ...the people of Australia gave her a good welcome ,she is pretty good when you consider her age and all the differnt things she did while she was here,I admire her greatly. Can't see Camila doing the job,Aussies don't like her they all loved Diana.
The visitors are all going home today so will have the house back to normal soon.
Went out for Chinese last night lovely meal as usual.
It has been very warm the last couple of days so my garden is just full of blooms of all sorts. Evelyn don't worry about the housework it can wait.
Reece sorry to hear about the shingles,my Dad has had it a few times and it is very painful.
Sylvia so nice to hear about your progress you will be back to normal in no time.
I will try to get back tonight when it is a bit more quiet.
Love to everyone . Suex <3 :-)

Hello my friends, Oh Reece I hope you are starting to improve, shingles is a nasty thing to have, I got it at Xmas 2004, I had it in my eye and over the right side of my head and face, Xmas just passed me by, please take things easy Reece remember you are far more important than housework just take care of you, the rest can wait until another day My thread is very busy at the moment, my goodness Diane would have been delighted with all the attention she is getting. Ron has nodded off in his chair, he ate his breakfast porridge so that is good, it worries me when he wont eat, he slept well last night. The house looks as if it needs a good spring clean but I dont feel like doing anything about it so S*d it it can wait until another day. My love to you all and thank you all for careing Evelyn XX <3

Goodness me. What a mixed bag of news!
Arthur has cracked the code to familysearch.org.....
Sylvia is weightlifting....
Anne is working (why am I not surprised?)....
Josie is a happy bunny.....
Evelyn is sitting on her BTM....
and poor, poor Reece has shingles. Do hope it starts to improve soon Reece as it can be very painful.....I know!
Yes Evelyn's thread is busy at the moment and I am trying to keep it all co-ordinated whilst Fans sorts some family probs out. I'm not an experienced researcher so tend to leave that side of things to others and just be the 'link' - if you know what I mean :-D :-D
At the rate we are going we will have investigated every family from Stornoway, every family from Wandsworth and all areas inbetween :-D
Not sure what I am up to today.......take care all Cx <3

Hello everyone,
A short message as I am suffering from an attack of "shingles" - i have been very busy having some work done here and the family think I overdid things a bit! My son came last week and took me back to Dorset where, 2 days later I started to come out in a very nasty rash on the left side of my waist. Then much worse so went off to see a Dr who pronounced definitely "shingles" and prescribed 7 days of medication. Home to day but feeling pretty dreadful, sore and painful, too. Any of those who have had this will know how I am feeling.
Love to everyone and especially Evelyn and Ron and Sylvia. R <3

Hi Everyone, just opened my email and found an Apology and 30 credits from 'genes. It made my day!
The Site problems were quite frustrating especially as they coincided with the week I decided to dive back into my Tree again.
I was quite happy with a personal email apology the free credits were a real bonus. Today is somewhat bleak and overcast had a lot of rain on and of for the last couple of days but it's very warm and humid 18cel. The Grass and the Weeds are loving it agh! :-(
Take consolation Ann that you don't have to take your own Coal or candles to work to allow you to be warm and see what you are doing. In offices prior to 1920's this is what was required as was set out in Office Rules along with a lot of other conditions that make you Realise that our lives compared with our Ancestors is a 'walk in the Park'.
Take care catch you all later Josie :-) :-) :-) <3 <3 <3
