Yes Folks, it probably was a silly thing to say.

It's not that I don't know anything about blindness - my Father was blind having been blinded in the first World War and I know that most blind people can live a very full life.

Arthur - does that mean that you are now more confused than when you started? Keep an eye on your thread for more replies........you will get there in the end I'm sure. So many of the helpers are really experienced. Our Sylvia is quite good actually....... ;-)

Hope Sue has gone on okay. Eyesight is very precious. Robert, you just come out of that shell right now!!!! Tuts.....

I have mixed feelings about the new Upstairs Downstairs. I adored the old one and watched the new one to see what I thought. To be honest, I can't even remember it much now and it's less than 48 hours. Guess it didn't have that much of an effect on me..... :-(

Pancake Day and am hoping my OH has enough energy to get the pancakes started. The grandchildren just love grandad's pancakes and so do I? Lots of lemon and sugar please. :-D

Quite mild and spring is on it's way.........wonderful!

Love to all. Cx. <3

Oh Robert - you have to come out of the shell sometime - thats a silly thing to say

Call the Midwife finsied sunday - Can't wait for it to come back

I have recorded Upstairs Downstairs - will try & see if I can watch it tonight as OH is out - he likes the old version & hates the new one. I have heard its not very good.

Bit grey & cloudy here today - the news is we are already in a drought situation & its only February - they were talking about standpipes already.

Who wants to take bets that its going to be a very wet summer this year?

Will pop by later if I can

Take care all <3 <3 <3

Hi Cynthia,

Hadn't thought of that - silly me. Well I'll just have to go blind!!

Cynthia

Did as you suggested and added Edwin Freeman - Death Record in the Find Ancestors threads.

Lots of response and even more puzzling results. :-) :-S :-)

Hi all

been very wet here ....... gale force winds and pouring rain Friday afternoon through to early Saturday afternoon.

Sue ....... good luck tomorrow.

If you look in here again .......... do please remember to take a pair of sunglasses with you. You will need them when you come out from the clinic.

You will probably have eye drops to put in for several days .............. I had 2 different kinds, and they had to be put in at specific times. I ended up having to keep a record in a little notebook, to make sure I'd done each one at the correct time!

Robert ................... I had both eyes done back in 2001. I went from extremely short sighted to needing only reading/computer glasses. It was fantastic!

....... and I am a person who absolutely hates anyone coming near my eyes! But the clinic staff were fantastic.

Hope all goes well Sue - look forward to seeing you back here as soon as you are able to type again.

Robert, you do realise that you will have to come out of your little shell if you are going to get your eyes seen to don't you?? :-D

Have you asked anyone on GR to look for that missing death record Arthur? There have been some wonderful 'finds' over the years on here.

Bet you thought you were being broken into when those plaques came crashing down didn't you Anne? What a fright and what a mess...... :-( Glad things have stayed in place since......

It's been a beautifully bright and sunny day here today but the wind has been really cold..........brrrrrrrrr Just settling down for a couple of hours play on the internet having just seen a visitor off.

Take care all and love to Reece, Sallie, Sally and Evelyn ... <3 Cx

Good luck, Sue,

Be very interested to hear how it goes as my eyes are on the "verge" and may have to be done soon.

I agree that finding out the facts yourself is what is is really all about, but I decided that I would give my searches on my mother's side a little boost.

I found out the my mother's paternal grandfather has no death record. How is it possible that records can go missing. Has anyone encountered this before, and if yes, how did you resolve it..

Sun is shing and I must get in the garden before settling down to watch the football.

Good Luck Sue - Beleive me the pain does go away - just a little uncomfortable for a day or so - you will feel so much better once its all over & done with - wish I was like you - no glasses or contacts would be a dream come true.

Arthur - thank you for letting me know - I wish I could get a little help on the brick walls - that will have to wait till we get our finances sorted.

Meanwhile I do like the fun of the chase & we both (OH & I) get very excited when we find something.

Will pop back later if I can as lunch calls to me.

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Hi Everyone

Cynthia you are correct I have not stopped all week .

I go into Hos tomorrow to have my first eye done ,cataract removed and lens put in so I will not have to wear glasses again if all goes to plan second eye is done 19th March.

My vision has slowly gotten worse over the years ,I find it hard to look at the computer screen at times so my time on here is limited but after tomorrow I hope it fixes the problem.

Arthur that is a very good news about your Mothers line but I don't think I can afford to pay someone to find my rellies ....I am hoping I can spend more time looking on the Internet once my eyes are fixed.

No trouble with Genes re; renewals but the site is so slow to load ...none of my other sites load that Genes does .

Well my friends I will sign off until Tuesday as that is the day they say I will be right to use my computer again and I still have lots to do before tomorrow......don't want to come home to a mess.

Wish me luck as I wave you all goodbye for a while .

Very excited not to wear glasses again I hope!

Love to you all <3

Suex :-D :-D

Anne

It was £175 per family line - so £350 to research both my mother's lines.

One the Dickson line that originated in Scotland, Naomi went back to about 1784 plus the name of the father one generation back.
On the Freeman line she went back to 1809 plus knowledge of the father one generation back.

Where females married the spouse were shown - always a difficult area unless you are lucky with wills or censuses.
