Hi all xx
Sue ...... so glad that you such a good time!
I've been busy doing some of OH's family tree ..... all those Welsh place names!!!
OH had a dermatologist 's appointment on Wednesday. He has some pre-cancerous "thingies" which keep appearing on his face, at both temples and now on the end of his nose ( %3A-%29 ). The ones at his temples are exactly where the sun catches him when he is driving a car (left side over here, right side in the UK).
So check your temples!!
This is his 3rd or 4th visit ........ the doc "zaps" the spots with liquid nitrogen, but others appear later.
Today (ie Thursday), I had my 6 monthly check up and clean at the dentist's ....... need no further treatment.
Then I went to the doc's to have my first 6 monthly check-up after being told the Cancer Agency didn't want to see me any more. I just have to have these 6 monthly check-ups at my own doctor. All is fine ..................... but he realised that I hadn't had any blood work done for him in the last 9 months.
Soooooooooooooo ....... he gave me a requisition to go to the clinic to have vials of blood drawn, including that horrible "fast for 10 hours" one.
I'll try to get the tests done next week.
Otherwise, we're fine ................. and the weather is now gorgeous here! There was a bit of a chilly wind today that kept the temperature down to about 13 or 14C. But it is supposed to get to around 20C over the weekend %3A-D
Take care

FIL is in reasonable good health - bad eyesight - but still wandering around places of interest - he went a bit down hill when he wasn't allowed to drive any more - so lost all the interest he had.
Trouble is he never had any hobbies - his whole life revolved around work (its one of the few subjects he is happy to discuss & gets very animated & lively when the subject comes up) - when he retired all he did was plan holidays - & take trips out & about - then he had to stop driving ao the trips slowed down - then MIL had health problems - so the travelling stopped as well.
Most of the time he potters around the flat - reads teletext (when he can) & sit slumped in his chair or fall asleep.
We do try & get him interested - he talks to my OH when we go up there about driving and cars & sometimes will get enthusiastic about past holidays - but he really comes to life when you mention BT or the Post Office.
Thats why i try & make sure my OH has a hobby or two as well - need to keep the brain active if nothing else.
Well I have a meeting to go to - third today & another one at 3:30 - woudl be nice to get some work done inbetween.
Sue i am so pleased you have had a wonderful time - are you going to have time for meeting up when you come to the UK?
Where will you be based - perhaps given enough time & if you want to we could try a Thread meet somewhere reasonable & actually put faces to names - all time & money allowing . If its planned early enough & we all want to.
Well enough of that for now - off to the little room & then the meeting
Take care all

Hi Everyone
What a wonderfull two weeks it has been for me ,we took my uncle back to Perth yesterday and came home the same day .
I had a mountain of washing to do ...beds to change ect ect,I have slowly got on top of it all and we will go back up to Perth next Thursday for a couple of days and see my uncle off on sat to fly back home .
We are going to the UK next year so not to long to get to see him again ..he is 80 ysr young so I try to see him every chance I get and we do chat a lot on Skype.
It sounds like we have all been busy of late.
Anne congrats to your FIL on 90 yrs that's great is he still in good health ? I hope you all have a wonderfull get together,i am a firm believer in trying to keep families together even though I am half a world away from mine .
Cynthia I hope your friend does not find things too upsetting delving into the archives re the war years,my OH is a great reader of those times and has told me some very distressing stories he has read regarding the concentration camps.
Very cold wet and windy here but I have got my washing dry now to fold it all and do the ironing.......Yuk!.
Drop in later . Evelyn Reeecs and Robert my thoughts are with you all. Suex <3 <3 <3

You have been busy indeed Anne.......don't go overdoing it for heaven's sake :-0
Sylvia, that picture looks very cold and wintery but I'm glad you had a good time. :-D
Another boring bank holiday done and dusted. It was so cold and windy yesterday.........brrrrrrrr
OH has had two home assessments in the last few days so that has kept me on my toes with my duster..... :-D Several things to help him have been suggested and we will just take it as it comes.
I have a friend who lives in San Antonio and I messaged her on her birthday. She replied to say that she is coming to England briefly and then going on to Poland where her dad came from. Looks as though she is now delving into her family history...........her dad was a Polish Jew who narrowly escaped the concentration camps. His first wife and daughter were sent one way and he and his son were sent another. Not sure how he and his son ended up in England though.
Hope you are all well.....take care.......love, Cx <3

Afternoon all - gosh what a busy board
Ended up working a bit this weekend - bit of a flap & panic weekend on here - hence not been on the thread.
Sorry to hear your weather has been misbehaving Sylvia :-(
Reece I like Cynthia - would like to know why you are limited to a small colour scheme - good news you have had loads of offers - its not always the one who pays most is the best. keep in touch
Cynthia good news for your OH a bit more mobility then - chance to get out and about a bit more.
Susan what a wonderful surprise - did your dad know he was going to pop in for a visit with you? glad to hear the new baby is doing so well - hows the new mum doing?
Sally always wanted to go to the spalding bulb fields - I have heard its very like the Dutch ones. Its great you can all go together & enjoy the day out.
Its been a very mixed bag here in the south - wet & windy & yesterday (because I was working) blue sky - then we had the rain again as soon as i left work Ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :-P :-P :-P :-P
Its been very cold here as well - had to put the fire & heating on again - thought we had finished with all that :-| :-| :-| :-|
Bit wintery today as well - its my F in L's birthday next monday he will be 90. We are going to stay next weekend so no internet for a few days - gutted We are taking them out for Afternoon Tea at a posh hotel next monday -
Tuesday we are all going back to Kent for a meal/party for him as its a reunion of the people he use to work with during & just after the war, he was a post office engineer in the Secret tunnels under Dover Castle.
We are all making an extra effort to go with him this year as its the last one as several can no longer make it to the pub these days or have already passed on. As he said fewer & fewer each year - i think its going to be quite emotional. Normally its only the two of them but this year the close family are joining in as well. Its going to be the end of an era for them all.
When the OH & I went we were talking to the guide at Dover Castle & he took us down a few tunnels not open to the public and showed us around a bit more - he was very interesed in hearing the stories my OH told him. i don't think his dad would be fit enough to go back to the Tunnels these days too much walking and his eyesight isn't very good now.
Well I better stop nattering and get back to work - or nothing will get done.
Take care all ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) <3 <3 <3 <3

Hi all
we got back from our trip yesterday, but have been catching up with stuff around the house etc.
The meeting was great, the food was very good, and OH duly got his award (plus a lapel pin!)
The weather, however, was the pits!
We literally had everything from sun to snow!
It really came in sequence ............... sun, rain, sun, heavy rain, sun. Then we got into the mountainous sections .............. sun, rain, sun, hail, sleet, sun, snow!!
We did have to cross 4 mountain passes, ranging from about 1200 m to over 1500m.
<<<<<< My new avatar is from Friday around lunchtime .... we had already crossed 2 higher mountain passes than this one with just a few flakes on one of them, then this!
There are in fact 5 or 6 mountain ranges, running north south, between the coast and the Rockies.
Some great news on here!!
and so it seems that you did behave while I was away
:-D :-D :-D

Hello........ :-D
Some lovely news from friends on here.
Sally - some churches do wonderful flower displays don't they? We have got one coming up in June and we serve lunches and things too.......really good community atmosphere at these sort of events....
Gosh Reece, you're really lucky to have to many offers for your house - especially in these financially straitened times........must be a lovely house.
What colour scheme have you gone for and why such a limited choice?? :-S
What a fantastic surprise Sue - I can just imagine what a shock it was to see your uncle go past your window. Hope he continues to have a lovely time with you. Enjoy <3
I've been hectic this week too what with one thing and another. OH has had two lots of assessment now and the most wearing part was all the questions for their paperwork....... :-S
We have now have an extra rail for the stairs and a couple of other bits of equipment are on order. We can asked for him to be re-assessed as and when we feel he needs it.
Went to see my once poorly friend yesterday and spent two hours helping her clear out her wardrobe - well, two of them anyway! The back of my car was groaning with the load of stuff to take to the charity shop!
She tells me that our next job is to go out and buy a new carpet for her bedroom................ :-S
I can feel the need for a coffee coming on so I will say bye for a while.
Lots of love to you all Cx <3

Hi Everyone
So sorry to have been missing so long but I got the shock of my life last weekend .
My dad can down to see us on sat and came in the house sat and had a cuddle with the new Baby, I caught sight of a man walking past my window so I went outside to see who it was and the man turned around it was my uncle Pete from the uk ,the one that lost his wife last year when I went back for the funeral. I was so pleased to see him ,it was a big surprise I can tell you ...lots of hugs and tears. We have been doing the tourist bit all week as they have left him with me for a week and a half so have been flat out.
Robert that is fantastic news my best wishes to you both.
Baby seems to be settled now and all her health issues are sorted she is doing well.
Weather now turning and it is raining today so my Uncle is right at home,my Cousins say the UK have been having a load of rain but say they need it . We are off to town later to do a bit of shopping so will try to get back on a gain tonight but my uncle likes my computer so I don't mind as it helps him stay in touch with him grownup children and grandchildren ...don't want him getting to homesick.
My love to you all Reece nice to see you back. Suex <3 <3 <3

Hello everyone,
I'm sorry not to have looked in before now but the last few weeks have been very hectic. Our house has been on the market for two weeks and after a lot of "viewers" and return visits from some we now have plenty of offers and tomorrow they are being asked for their final bids by the estate agent.
Today I was asked to choose the paint colour for the interior of my "new" home in Dorset but not given much choice!
What wonderful news for Robert's wife and Robert - I send warmest good wishes to them both.
A brief message for Anne - re the Chamberlain query - I haven't heard from the NZ connection but have the birth certficate from GRO and, as I thought, Alfred born to Elizabeth (and James) as was Charlotte but no record for her as yet. So many thanks for all your kind help.
Good news for Cynthia's OH, too - it does make a difference to be able to get out. A lift to your spirits too, Cynthia.
Now I will have to look back at your posts to catch up, hopefully, over the weekend.
Have a very enjoyable May Bank Holiday, everyone and, as Sylvia says, "do behave!"
Love
Reece <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Very good news indeed Robert - you must both be very relieved and happy. <3 <3
I don't understand new mums either Sylvs. Where you and I would make sure the children were tucked up snugly in bed by 7.30 at the latest, you see parents taking them out for meals at all times of the night. :-S Mind you, maybe our parents thought the way we did things was odd!
I was very pleased at the weekend because my OH was able to go to a birthday party with me. Because of his meds etc., we haven't been out socially together for absolutely ages........probably well over 12 months. It made such a nice change... :-D :-D
Got a visitor coming soon so had better sort myself out..
Love to all, Cx

To use the phrase from a well known song "What a difference a day makes"
Its been beautiful today - too warm to wear a coat. Yesterday you would have been drowned if you stepped out the door.
Still have a hose pipe ban - still have a half empty water butt as well - no idea where the water went -
It gives us a good reason to mutter about things.
Hope Josie is doing well on her training course.
Evelyn - we miss you loads
Reece hows the packing going.
Robert - healing thoughts to you both.
Loving thoughts to all the others on the thread
Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

hi all xxx
Sue ..... glad to hear that you've got your new glasses :-D
I don't understand mums these days!
My grandson did not sleep through the night for more than a year :-0
Daughter co-slept with him for about 4 months .......... meaning father slept on the spare bed.
She fed on demand, which worked at, usually, something like every 2 hours.
Granted, I bottle fed her ................ but she was sleeping through the night at about 4 weeks
Sally ................... Vancouver IOC and the federal government spent over $1 billion on security alone in 2010 .......... that's around £400,000
You ain't seen nuthin' yet!

Sue i will gladly swap the Uk with you - i am fed up hearing about the dreaded event in the summer - because of the company i work for - we are not even allowed to speak the name - as it s a rival Credit card/Bank.
My get out clause - which seems to work is - the special event which happens every four years & just happens to be in our capital city this year - sorry we cannot help with any tickets or special bookings for this event.
Arthur - sounds very promising
Sylvia - bon Voyage.
Cynthia - the house looks amazing - i can see it sparkling in the sun from here.
Funny enough its wonderful sunshine here today - we are bracing ourselves for the torrential rain on sunday.
Its been manic here this week - first time I have had a lunch break all week. Even then its only 15 mins.
Will try & stay longer tomorrow .
Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
