I missed Evelyn :-( :-(

Never mind, it was just lovely to hear from her again.... :-D <3

I've had a birthday this week and it's one I will remember I think.

All was going well - went out for coffee etc........and family were coming round in the evening for a Chinese meal.

Daughter arrives in a taxi late afternoon. Opens the back door of the taxi to pick my present up and............

.......the driver didn't notice and set off........running over her feet!! :-S

I ended up taking her to A & E where she had an x-ray. No broken bones thank goodness but bruising and soreness. Sheeeeeesh what a way to spend the afternoon!

Now that I am at a 'certain age', I received 2 invitations from my surgery.

To have the pneumonia jab and to see the nurse at the Find and Treat clinic!

Seems I'm okay (for my age). Blood pressure is perfect!!!!

Anyway, must stop wittering.

Love to all.......Cx

Hello My Friends,
Yes its that old misery called Evelyn here, just to let you know I am still around though I am not very happy. I miss my Mr Grumpy so much, I have no one to nag, guess I shall have to nag the TV. Not much fun being a widow.
My eldest brother has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, so not any good news here.
I hope you are all well and I think of you often.
My son and daughter in law are coming to stay with me for 8 days next month and he will do some decorating for me whilst they are here.
In July for my 80th birthday we are all meeting up at my daughters place to celebrate the big occasion.
Take care everyone, love to you all

When i said we acquired some rubbish - I mean the neighbours managed to try & hide it behind our shed & hope we didn't notice.

OH was going to have a row about it with them - but decided to let sleeping dogs lie & pretend we didn't notice.

Then he got fed up as the pile kept growing and we couldn't weed - so he cleared it all out - we made enough noise in the garden - and said quite loudly - funny where all this stuff came from - sure it wasn't there a month or two ago - Funny they vanished in doors for the rest of Saturday.

Never mind - whats done is done now - no use keeping on about it.

We hit 31 degrees on Friday warmer than the South of France so our local paper said.

Wish we had heard from Evelyn - its been so long now - I really miss her little comments.

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Hi Everyone

Anne your OH sounds like mine... always collecting other peoples rubbish then he needs to clean out his garage because he has no more room left ...I think it is a man thing as most of the women I know can't stand clutter.

My other half is also very kind hearted so he is always volunteering himself for little jobs for others, probably would not want him any other way .

See the eye specialist tomorrow to check up on my eyes, one is perfect the other I don't think has held as it should but I am sure he will see me right ,I just love being able to see again good and do my Genealogy I really missed it.

Robert I hope things are OK with you and your wife ,thinking of you both and I was thinking about Frank the other day I do hope he is well ,I miss his humour.

Has anyone heard how Evelyn is ,she has been missing a while now .

My Uncle has returned to the UK now and he was telling me how hot it has been since he came home,he left us with rain and wearing a jumper.

Went out getting wood on the weekend it was nice and sunny for the whole day and we got a good load too, this weekend we are going to get the MIL a load as she is getting low.

Well my friends I have to go and get dinner for the starving OH or he won't go to work tomorrow.

Love to you all <3 :-D

What a shame.....just when you were helping someone out too :-(

Hope it is all sorted by now and that you have a nice new rear window. Sounds like that old film with Cary Grant doesn't it? :-D :-D

The weather has been SO hot and I am not a sunworshipper. Don't mind watching it from the shade but certainly don't want to lie baking in it. I prefer to stay pale and interesting :-D :-D

I've got loads of washing done to - loads of irong now of course! I don't mind, I like ironing......strange person that I am.

Hoping to take OH to get his hair cut this morning.........they'll probably charge the usual search fee :-D :-D

Hope all our missing friends are keeping well.........sending them much love <3 <3 <3

Another very warm day - loads of washing done today as working tomorrow - so it can dry off nicely.

I have not found anyone looking forward to the Olympics - Yawn

Looking forward to the jubilee - will be interesting to see what is shown on the TV. No parties around our way either.

I have heard the torch is on its way to us as well - quite a few of my office are going to watch - not me.

We just had a disaster with the car - OH wanted to take some stuff to the tip - our neighbours had a clear out & loads of bits found their way in our garden - behind the shed - so we loaded the card & drove off with the tail gate open - when we bounced over the speed humps the tail gate bounced - they have a nasty one near the barrier - as it came down the heavy iron bedstead went up - the two met & crash - the heated rear windscreen is no more - had great fun clearing up all the glass at the tip loads of cuts on my finers - blood everywhere - OH cursing - me moaning we should have made the neighbours get rid of their own rubbish - and we are waiting for Autoglass to arrive. OH muttering about them not calling in a timely manor - me just fed up as more expence we can't afford. they just called - we need to take it to them - so a very disturbed afternoon. :-( :-( :-( :-( :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P

Oh well these things are sent to try us - never mind

Lets hope the weather stays nice for next weekend.

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Good for you Anne.....you need a break, so enjoy the sunshine whilst it's here.... :-D

Arthur.....there are always those who are very pedantic about things whether it's commonsense or not. Hope the Highways Dept see sense. Keep at it - upwards and onwards........ :-D

Haven't heard of any Jubilee street parties round here, but I live on a very busy road so it's really not practical. I'm really looking forward to the Jubilee events though, especially the Royal Barge bit.

Mind you, I am concerned about any terrorist threats etc. It's a shame that we have to have that hovering in the background at these special events.

It seems as though the Olympic Torch is coming to our town next week. Wow. Whoopee do. Yippee. I think I will paint a wall and watch it dry! ;-)

Brought my once poorly friend back to my house yesterday. It's been over 2 and half years since she was here and I never thought she would visit again at one stage. She really enjoyed her short visit and is doing well at home. Today she had her carpets cleaned and is thinking about some re-decoration. :-D

Have had my hair cut so feel a lot cooler now............it's been so hot today that we have a fan going in our lounge.......... :-)

Lots of love to all - especially our missing friends - hope all is well with Robert in his little shell - it must be baking hot in there this week. <3

Sounds like a good decision has been made by some of the Parish council - i think its a good compromise

Another lovely day - i think Summer may have started to arrive

Working on Sunday morning - OH said he will come & pick me up - as we can always replay the race. So i will have to make sure I am ready on time.

Any one having any street parties or anything for the Jubilee?

Sending thoughts to all our missing friends

Take care all <3 <3 <3

Old Report 23 May 2012 23:26

At a very tense Parish council meeting an amendment requiring me to reinstate the grass verge was defeated by 5 votes to 3.

The Parish Council voted by 5 votes to 3 to allow the pea shingle in place of grass, provided that I remove the posts and rope enclosing the area.

The matter will now be referred back to Kent Highways dept.

Obviously I am disappointed that I need to remove the posts and rope, but hugely relieved that the Parish council has not recommended that the grass verge be reinstated.

The 3 dissenting councillors are worried that grass verges are disappearing and compared my site to Dungeness.

I had a long chat with the person 'responsible' for advising on the law governing footpaths and rights of way. He is a volunteer and a member of the Ramblers Association.
He explained that the public have a right to walk on the full extent of any road i.e. including the grass verges. In some rural areas, the grass verges represent the only safe area to walk - when people obstructed these verges with plant containers I can see they would represent a hazard and need to be removed.

In my locality the council have made a pavement that is the safe place to walk, and there is no need for the grass verge I replaced with pea shingle. There will always be people who insist on exercising their rights even if this is illogical and potentially dangerous

I hope that Kent Highways Dept will accept the recommendation of the Parish Council. I am giving them an area that they will not need to maintain - they never have - and to any sane person I am not interfering with the ancient right of way.

Fingers crossed.

2nd full day - sunny weather - very strange - last week freezing this week hotter than the Med

Bet it will rain when i want to do the washing on Saturday - managed to get some OT for Sunday - OH will kill me as its Monaco GP - so will have to make my own way home on the bus

He won't come out to get me at 1:30 just after the race started - so its going to be a very late lunch on Sunday

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3

Good morning everyone :-D

Well done with your brainwaves Arthur - I really hope it all works out well for you. Keep flying the flag!

Good work there Sylvia......you sure know how to ferret some of these people out......... I'm just pleased if I can find someone on a census under their real name - never mind mistranscriptions :-D

Had a nice visit from a friend and her daughter yesterday. The daughter is one of my Godchildren and I rarely see them because they live in Yorkshire.

They're a very special family to me because my Goddaughter is a Romanian orphan whom they rescued from dreadful circumstances over 20 years ago. I remember when they brought her back to this country and showed us the pictures they had taken of the orphanage etc. It's sad to think that the same situation still exists out there :-(

Sorry Sue, I'm a couple of hours from Yorkshire and even further from Gloucestershire :-( but I'm glad you enjoyed your uncle's visit.

A lovely sunny day here today but I think I've washed everything in sight already.......maybe I could start on the curtains.....??? ;-)

Love to all, not forgetting out missing friends <3 <3
