Hi Everyone
Rain and more rain ...very cold too so I am inside this week no bike riding for me.
Arthur sorry to hear about your prob's with the council,I am still fighting our water board over chlorinating our wonderful chemical free water.
Sent off another letter today to them hoping we can change there minds and go back to the UV way of keeping the water germ free. At least the rain has come in handy we are collecting it for drinking water.
Can you all tell me wherever you come from ( what countries ) what your countries use ie; for clearing your water suppies I would be interested to know . I have researched in canada and they use UV in some states also some US states.
OH just walked so better talk to him for a while and get dinner statred will be back later.

I have 2 death certificates that I ordered in error.
I would be happy to send them to anyone researching the people.
What is the best way of ensuring maximum coverage.?

Thanks Cynthia - will give a go next time
You dont get much choice when your phone is ancient - we always wait our two years and then go for the upgrade swap - couldn't afford to buy one.
OH wanted just a phone till i reminded him how useful a photo phone would be if he needed it for insurance - if he had had one when a pushbike side swiped him he wouldn't have had so much problem with insurance. It worked I dragged him in to the 21st century & I got one free as well.
Now we have semi all singing dancing phones - not the latest ones - but at least mobile internet now.
Rain rain rain - thats all we have had for a few days -
I wish there was a mobile that cleaned your house.
Well off to do the washing & ironing
Take care all

Really sorry to hear that Arthur. I think going to the MP is a good idea - in fact, anyone you can think of at all. Good luck and keep cheerful.
When you said you hadn't found a murderer in your family yet, well I have. Not a blood relative but his sister married into my maternal family. It seems as though this chap had arranged to 'meet' a woman in a barn and, when she did not turn up, he vented his anger on a 6 year old boy - may have been her son actually - and beat him to death with an iron bar. . He was hanged in 1876. Shudders.......not nice. :-(
Hasn't it put some rain down the last few days? Those poor people affected by it all - I would hate to be flooded out of my house - all that clearing up. yuk.
Anne, the records I love rootling through are on Medway City Ark but the record I found my grandfather's 2nd marriage on was on the Kent opc.
If I am looking for parish records, I tend to google the name of the parish church of wherever and see where it leads me. Much easier than all that census work.... ;-)
My children and grandchildren have those all-singing, all-dancing phones and use them no problem..... :-S The one I am waiting for is the one that cooks!!! :-D :-D
Going off for a browse around.
Hope all is well with my friends on here......
Love....Cx <3 <3

You can be sure that I won't let the b*****s get me down.
I am very carefully considering my position. The glare of publicity might just work against me if I lose and the Council then enforce the 30 day ruling - even with all my friends helping it will take time to remove 23 tonnes of pea shingle and find somewhere to put it.
Writing to my MP seems the best option at this time - he was extremely helpful to me when my mother died. I pointed out flaws in the system relating to pensions, the numerous duplicated intrusive forms that it was necessary to complete before any monies owed could be transferred to my account.
Before I take any action, I will write to my County Councillor who has been extremely helpful throughout, even though ultimately unable to get a satisfactory resolution. Sometimes it is who you know, not what you know. He perceptively said "You are really angry because the 'old witch' - my words not his - has won.

I have never felt so angry.
The Highways officer came today to look at my site.
Result - I must reinstate the grass and the attendant problems with dogs.
Why - the County council do not want it to set a precedent if they allow me to keep the pea shingle.
I am carefully considering my next step. Any legal suggestions would be gratefully received.
It is a shame I cannot post a picture here so that you can see how it was and how it now is. Everyone, without exception who visits me says how nice the front looks. Only the Councillor neighbour objected, and she waited until I had laid the membrane, shovelled 23 tonnes of pea shingle, installed posts and rope and then added shrubs. She only lives six houses from me and could have stopped me as I had the grass, soil and excrement removed - the truck was impossible to miss.
The Parish council had voted to allow me to keep the pea shingle, provided that I remove the posts and rope. Apparently that has no standing and only the CountyCouncil ruling is enforceable.
Hope my EuroMillions ticket comes up tonight - will then be able to employ the best brains to see if I can make the Council chamge their verdict.
I can see the why the Council do not want to set a precedent, but the scrubby piece of grass was never walked on in the last nine years. It does not represent the only safe place to walk. Clearly there are areas of grass along country lanes that are the only safe areas to walk and should not be obstructed by householders whose properties are adjacent. Surely each case can be viewed on its merits and the Parish Council would seem, to me, the best place for such resolution.
Rights of way are important, but the rules governing them were drawn up in an entirely different time for a very real purpose. Times have changed and nioboidy is adversely affected by my attempt to remove a health hazard and eyesore, and make my village a little more beautiful.

Hi Everyone
Evelyn it is lovely to see you back and I am sorry to hear about your brother <3.
I was helping someone yesterday and they turned out to have a very different name than we were given for him so your Diane could have been bap ts with a different name as she does not seem to want to be found ,but i am a great believer that she will turn up one day .
I have had a brilliant week with going around the boards again and really enjoying it ,I have had the Grandaughter around quite a bit lately too with the new baby ..she is just beautiful but I am biased she is my first Grt Grandchild.
Our weather had been so bad of late now it has gone very cold as the rain has gone away for a while but will be back again on Monday they are telling us .
Josie nice to see you back again and pleased you like your new job,I hope you continue to like it ,i get a bit fed up with the phone always ringing.
I am off to the boards ..been out all day ..need my fix for the day.
Love to you all

You discovered you great grandfather had married again.
Through the help of people on Genes I discovered that a great grandfahter had a death bed marriage - to a neighbour some 30+ years younger. I also found out the death of his first wife which was my real query.
Haven't found a murderer - yet :-)

Hello all my lovely friends, Sadly no good news re my brother, he is fading fast. I am in quite a happy frame of mind today, Leslie and Margaret (son and daughter in law) arrived last night from Scotland and I have had a super day with them, also been to the Doctor for my 3 monthly check up and he is very pleased with me. We went out for lunch then this evening we all got involved with preparing the meal which was enjoyable. I will try to pop in again soon. My love to you all and thank you so much for your caring and support, I really do appreciate it. Evelyn XX That damned elusive Diane is still missing

Cynthia - really please to hear the OH is a lot better on the new meds - such a same he over did it a bit.
Which Parish record site do you use? always eager to find new place to stick my nose in to.
Cynthia - I just want you to sit down now - brace yourself - you may need a small brandy stading by - I have a week off next week and it looks like I actually may take the whole week off - not just a few days & then rush back in again.
Not that we are able to go anywhere - so looks like I may get some house work done :-P :-P :-P :-P and do some family history work :-D :-D :-D - would love to go to a few record offices - but the cost of fuel is rubbish and we dont have the spare cash.
Its our 14th Wedding anniversary on Sunday - I would like to go for a meal - but will probably go to M & S & get a dine in for 2 option instead or a take away.
I would love to go back to Gretna next year just for a long weekend to relive our wedding - Fingers crossed we will come up on the lottery & have the option to do so.
Hope Evelyn is keeping well - we need you back on here - we need livening up <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Love to all on regulars on this thread <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Have to rush back as we have a big flap on now
Take care all ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Some good reading.......hi Josie - lovely to hear about your new job and all the things which have been happening to you.
It is 'supposed' to be summer over here, but it was really unfortunate that the weather was dreadful for the jubilee celebrations. It could be that Prince Philip caught cold whilst watching the flotillas as it was so cold and wet.
I do envy people who are so artistic with their hands. I have a few friends who are good at cake decorating.........my Christmas cakes always used to be 'snow scenes' because all I could do was fluff the icing up with a fork :-D
Arthur, hope you find your rellies........I've just discovered that my gt.grandfather had a marriage I didn't know about - nor did others it seems :-0 I found it by looking through online parish records....I much prefer searching those to look at census. I get all gozzle-eyed with those.
The new meds my OH is on are really working well at the moment. His walking has improved and he even managed to complete the parish walk on Sunday - similar to the Whit Walks - north of England stuff!
This morning, I dropped him off so that he could walk home downhill and got a phone call a little while later asking if I could pick him up. I scurried off and found him standing forlornly in the lane - it seems he had done something to his calf muscle and it was painful!
I brought him home and had a word with the surgery. A doc phoned and chatted to him and he has been told to rest it with ice. Never a moment's peace round here...... :-D
Take care all.......going to look through some more parish registers soon.....Cx <3
