Hello everyone :-D

I've been busy playing around with my new FTM 2011. I can't believe how much things have changed since the 2005 version which I originally had. My word, a few clicks and my trees on Ancestry were load on to the FTM complete with all the records etc.....wonderful stuff. I'm still trying to get used to all the facilities though.

Sue.......I can't wait for the seasons to change either.....to Spring and some much needed warmth :-D :-D

Travelled over to Liverpool yesterday to take OH to see his specialist. It all went well - just a minor tweak to his medication. Fortunately, he is still walking well and I encourage him to go on a stroll every day as long as the weather is fine. When it's horrible, we have a little treadmill which he can use. It's all to do with keeping his muscles flexible.

This afternoon he is going to the dentist......and tomorrow I am taking our grandson to the dentist......the fun never ends. ;-)

Arthur, you've certainly got your hands full with those two kittens - they must be keeping you fit!

Anne - how interesting about your gt.nephew!! The trouble is, so many schools/teachers think they 'know' all about autism because they have 'been on a course'.

Sadly, many so-called 'professionals' are not as clued up as one would hope either. It's one thing working with autism.....it's another thing living with it. More notice should be taken of those who live with the condition I think.

I must say though, our town is shortly to launch a new 'pathway' re the diagnosis of autism in adults which I am really delighted about. My GP reckons that much of the work being done on autism in this area is due to my 'nagging'. I can nag for England when I have to.... :-D :-D

Hope everyone is keeping well - thank goodness that winter is nearly over (sorry Sue).......

Love to all Cx <3 <3

Visited friends recently who have two cats. Took the kittens to see them.

My two were into everything and really enjoyed themselves. My friends' two cats hid behind the settee and would not come out. Shows how well socialised mine are - I owe a great debt of gratitude to the veterinary nurse who hand reared them.

At my friends' suggestion I have bought two leads to enable me to take the kittens into the garden. They are so fast and inquisitive I would be frightened of losing them. Only problem is - how to get them to stay still to put the leads on. I will persevere.

To Misquote Mark Twain
"Rumours of my disappearance have been greatly exaggerated"

Sorry to disappoint a few of you

Cynthia - we posted around the same time

Been down to the Outlaws again - come back home for a rest - spent nearly an hour deciding where to go to eat lunch -

Where would you like to go - we don’t mind

How about - Yes that’s fine

We could always go to **** - whatever you want

Well lets go to - yes great lets go - mind you the reposts have been a bit off -

and so on for the next few mins

Ok lets go to ****** - no we will try ********* - ok so we get ready to go & she changed her mind again - so we went to the first place

Which serves very large helpings - far too much for me - so I ordered 2 starters - and that was wrong - Dont you like the food - whats wrong with the place - should have said I didn't like it - we should have gone somewhere else aaaaaaagh

Then they held a post-mortem on the food they had - so much easier I thought to go with the flow - obviously not as it turned out

My M -in L is a feeder - I don’t eat a lot - not that you would think that if you saw me

According to Weightwatchers "I don’t eat enough to lose weight" "You have to eat a lot more than that if you want to lose weight - how do you expect to exist on that small amount of food"

So I will just stay rolling around eating little & not very often

We have had a lovely few days here - cold but sunny - we need some of your warmth Sue

Reece - hope you are feeling better & you get a moving day soon

Josie - how is the work situation?

Arthur - have the kittens learnt any more naughty ways

Sylvia - are you feeling better

Sue - have fun with your family when they arrive - are you still planning a trip over here?

Sally - hope you are getting out & about in the sunshine

Evelyn & Robert - hope you are keeping well

Apologies if I missed someone

Oh Cynthia - just to let you know - our Great nephew who we thought had slight Aspergers & the school teams thought he just had Occasional slight difficulties - well now he is nearly 16 they have come to the conclusion - he has full on Aspergers - which is what his mum & Grandma (retired primary school head) have been saying for years.

Does make you wonder what symptoms he had to have then to get the help he needed earlier.

Oh well - its a funny old world

Take care all

My snowdrops look lovely & we have no idea where they came from - they pop up every year in the same 3 places around the garden - very random - we didn't plant them - they arrived about 6 years ago in the snow & sunshine - they look lovely.

Such a shame you cant see them Sally

Arthur the kittens are such fun - hope your TV & the Orchids survive - my previous cat (no longer with us - unfortunately) was part Siamese & was very agile - he could balance easily on the top of the very thin telly - but only when he thought he could get away with it.

One afternoon he leapt from the arm of the sofa right up on top of the china cabinet - you have never seen people move across a room so fast - I leant against the cupbaord & the OH being very tall grabbed the cat off the top - he frightened himself that time & us. We just hoped he wasn't going to try that again when we were out.

I still really miss him - he was so loveable

The (very large) Ginger lump who has now adopted us - is a bit on the thick side & is only just learning how to play - he still hasn't quite worked out the real difference between a gentle stroke & a game - some times he lets you enjoy a nice cuddle on the lap with an hour or two strokes - other times you are lucky to get away with unshredded fingers.

He can be very adorable - but also seems to have a nasty streak too - not that I think he means it all the time.

We played "This is my seat" game again on Sunday. Picture the lounge on a sunday afternoon after lunch -

We have an armchair by the fire (OH) - an armchair by the window (with sun on it sometimes) nice blanket on the seat & cover on the top so he can sit & look out at the garden - (Duggies chair) - and the two seater sofa (mine & the paperwork at the weekends) occasionally mine & cat but not when i am doing Family tree or cross stitch or working.

I come in with a load of files & a laptop - place these on the side of the sofa by the door - large ginger cushion is on my seat - knows he is in the wrong - rolls over, purrs & looks adorable & then flashes the claws at me as soon as i approach.

Ginger lump gets carefully cuddled & moved to his chair - gently laid on the blanket - OH very wisely says - "that wont last long" - Ginger lump quick as a flash practically in one bound - is off chair -on to the floor & back on sofa - sits there smiling at me.

So i Try again - Giner lump confused as he is now back on his chair - - this time I actually get to the sofa & nearly end up sitting on the cat - Flurry of Ginger fur

Try again - with a firm hand & a few words - confused cat sits on his chair for all of 10 seconds - i get to sit down this time & he is on my lap - he thinks to stay - so struggle to get up with cat & try again.

OH by this time in fits of giggles - I know i can last - hope cat cant.

After the third attempt - cat is now fed up as keeps ending up where he does not want to be. So he decides to go to the kitchen & look for food - I get settled - paperwork everywhere - almighty stampede of feet - cat comes flying through the door - bounces on the arm of the sofa & on to the seat - skids across the paper work (all over the floor by now & crumpled) - lands on my lap - realises he does not want to be there - bounds on to his chair & then the windowsill & gives us the evil look & demands to be let out.

After that i try & sort out my paperwork & settle down for a few hours - until our attention is once again demanded by "He who seems to think he is in charge"

Oh then demanded my attention as he had a query on the computer

One day i will get time to myself

And on that note - i am going back to work

Take care all - great to see people dropping by again

Hello Jean and Reece....so nice to see you.

Wonder where Sue and Anne have got to? Hope they're okay.... :-S

Arthur, your kittens sound as playful as puppies....... and I've had a few of those.

It's been snowing today but it's now turned to rain and, it sounds quite heavy by the way it's lashing onto the windows.... :-(

Haven't been up to anything very exciting - just plodding along really.

My son phoned this morning and asked if I could my grandson to the dentist next week. They've a problem with trying to get time off work so, of course, I said yes. Now that they are growing up, I don't see them as often as I used to, so this is a good opportunity.

Hope you all managed to enjoy some pancakes yesterday. I did. Too many really but I do so love them, especially with lemon and sugar on. Mmmmmmm

My daughter is off work this week due to it being half term. We decided to go to an ice-cream parlour yesterday and I was surprised at how full it was. I thought that, because of the weather, it would be empty but no.....lots of people enjoying ice cream despite the chilly temperatures.

Ah well, back to browsing.........love to all - keep well Cx <3 <3 <3

Hello everyone,

The sun is shining!!!!!!

Snow still on the grass, though.

Jean, a lovely smile - made me smile.

Sally, the snowdrops are out here, too. It is sad that you cannot see them properly.

Very frustrated as cannot get a completion date - my purchasers are asking to "come 'round and measure up" - wonder if it is a ploy to make me MOVE! They are lovely and so patient, too.

Arthur, your story of your kittens reminds me of our two Siamese - they sound just the same. Great fun and much loved.

Love to you all,

Sally

Survived another lot of snow - 6 inches fell early Monday morning. Was able to get out to the main road for essentials. whereas everywhere nearby has had rain and snow has disappeared - I still have heaps.

one of the kittens - Nicki - likes watching TV. Not like us from in front of the set, but on tiop of the set. She leaps onto the cabinet and then balances on top and looks down. I grab her and shout NO, but so far it has not worked.

Both have now become attracted to the butterfly orchids - the long aerial roots. I keep moving pots from lounge to kitchen, but running out of room in the kitchen. hope they will tire of the fascination.

Not too long before they have their op and can then go out.

Hope everyone is OK

Our Sylvia is a good sleuth isn't she Arthur ?... ;-)

It's been a busy week again - nothing major, just here and there and bits and bats but it all takes time.

My son was 40 on Tuesday and had a wonderful weekend away with his wife and another couple. We went round to see him on Monday night because, on his birthday he was being treated to a trip to Manchester to 'fly' in a simulated atmosphere of weightlessness.......he thought it was fantastic :-S :-S :-S :-S

Mind you, I did start Tuesday off by going to a funeral where the stand in organist couldn't understand how to start the organ. Fortunately, I know the usual organist and, after a few panicky phone calls, the problem was solved........sigh.

I was busy yesterday what with visiting an autism event in town and then, in the evening, taking part in the monthly baptism preparation at church.

Today I picked up some old mobile phones from someone (my daughter is collecting them for an autism charity) and then dropped my OH for a walk. We are so fortunate that, when his meds kick in, he is still able to do some walking. Not as much as he used to but it's all good.

This afternoon I took my friend out for coffee at a small garden centre not too far from her home.

Have just heard on the news that we are forecast to have some more snow on Sunday.....I am so sick of the stuff and really don't want any more of it.... :-(

I am out tomorrow night but am hoping that the day may be fairly quiet.

Much love to all.......Cx <3 <3 <3

A fresh pair of eyes please.

Frederick Wilde 18 is shown on the 1911 Cennsus as living with his cousin Arthur (Wellington) Horsey.
Arthur's wife is shown as Corrie28 and they have been married 8 years.

I have been unable to find the marriage - always get a marriage of Arthur Wellington Horsey in 1919 to Ethel Amelia Wood on Aug 4th 1919. He is shown as a widower.

Thanks in advance

I am still in the land of the living

On a clear day we have a wonderful view across the town from our perch on the 5th floor - the building seems to be all glass - From floor to ceiling - wonder who is going to clean the windows. if you go right to the edge it looks a very long way down to the ground.

As a confirmed galanthophile, I have been enjoying myself by visiting Myddelton House (Home of E A Bowles) where I was able to purchase several fine snowdrops.

On Saturday drove with a friend to Suffolk - Thurston near Bury ST Edmunds - to a garden centre that had a 'Celebration of Snowdrops Day'. Bought some more nice snowdrops.

In both cases it was really a good socisl occasion when you meet like minded people and renew acquaintances.

Spent yesterday morning tidying my collection and enjoyed watching my team win at football.

Today the weather was bright and not too cold so spent some time photographing my bulbd - Crocus, reticulate irises as well as snowdrops.

Glad that there is no further bad news on the thread and pleased people are making good progress.

Kittens continue to grow and are into absolutely everything. Nicki can almost open the kitchen door - she climbs up the frames (door is split into 15 small areas of glass) and then reaches for the handle. She is not yet heavier enough to force it down and open the door - but it won't be long.
