Hi Everyone

Glad to be back into the land of the well,I still have this nagging Cough but otherwise I am fine .
It has been a wonderful week of warm weather so Oh and I have been out in the garden doing all those things we do before Summer comes.
My Roses are looking good and the lawns are nice and green ,they are saying we have a good load of rain coming in tonight that should last for a few days ..that will be good for the gardens and so I have fertilised everything I could think of.

Anne we all come out of the woodwork when the weather comes good,I love to talk about my Garden you all seem to talk about your cats of which I have none ,we are thinking this year of getting a puppy ,see what happens.

Oh is doing fine waiting for op on his wrist first then they are going to tackle his neck,that is a big op so will have to have a lot of patience when that is done but I am ready infact I wish they would hurry up and do it.

Back out to the garden to black magic my Roses :-D

Fingers crossed we are the right family.

It would be nice to receive some money, but the information on the family is valuable as I find it difficult trying to research after 1911.

I was wrong - not related to my maternal grandmother's family, but my paternal grandmother's family.

My brother has spoken to the company and learnt that a letter was sent to my sister in june - she had not replied. She is in Spain at the moment so cannot speak to her.

My brother gave them my address and my phone number - awaiting their call. I should have been the easiest to find as I lived at my previous address for 30 years and my present for 11 years.

High excitement today. My brother rang to say he had a letter from BTMR a probate research company based in Scotland. Had correct details for him and our parents.

I am expecting my letter to come tomorrow.

My 2 x Gt Grandfather was Scottish and I can only think the link is through one of my maternal grandmother's siblings.

Will let you know as it develops. :-D

i love hearing the stories of the girls - they are so funny.

Shadow is the first one who seems to count his toys & know when one is missing - he will wait till I get home to show me where his rubber balls have gone or his cat nip toys. wonder if its a black cat thing. he also tends to put them all back in one place once he has finished playing. Its only when we get home unexpectedly we find them spread out.

He loves it when the quilt or cover is over hanging the bed & on the floor - he sneaks under it & then jumps out at me as I go past - trouble is its usually bare legs that get the claws as i have just got up. He never does it to John who has tougher skin than me.

He tends to walk all over my pillow & head when i am in bed & he wants me to get up - or if like this morning i had to get up early to visit the bathroom - he kept trying to get me to go back to bed so he could sleep & got quite cross when I didn't follow him up the stairs straight away.

I know Cynthia is around as i saw a post from her on another thread.

Hope all our silent readers are keeping well - Reece & Robert - keep in touch.

Thanks for your advice on drying the cats. I think I did it naturally or wrapped them in the towel. They obviously love it as they go out 3 or 4 times.

Your Shadow is a real character and responding to your care of him. Vikki (aka PODGE) is also 5.2kg, whereas he sister is only 4.2kg. I am never allowed a lie-in as Vikki leaps on me until I get up - it feels more like 5.2 stone!

Vikki has a toy mouse that she treats just like a live one. She picks it up and runs around the house, she hits it so it goes up in the air. Today she presented me with her second kill - a baby vole. She must be a slow learner because her sister has been bringing in rodents for the last 18 months.

In some ways they are very like dogs. I have to weigh the dry food to make sure Vikki does not get too fat. They both sit patiently while I weigh it and then trot after me when I place their bowls down. They are very different bowls and they know their own. Unlike dogs they do not eat all the food at one go, but eat over a morning before reminding me around 1730 that their next feed is due. A firm word normally stops Vikki from eating her sister's food.

They have both got me trained to open the front door, even thought they have a cat flap in the kitchen.

In the garden they hide in the shrubs and leap out to surprise me. They also give me a start from the bottom of my long garden then race me to the house - I'll let you guess who wins/

Life without them would be very dull.

ann cats and dogs do sulk pluto does if my grandson does not walk him after school he curls up and turns his back om us

watched a programe tonight on channel 5 at 7.30 all about cats dogs and pigsit was quite good they are following there progress as they grow

Glad to hear the kittens are doing well & keeping you busy.

Thank you for asking after Shadow – he is very well but not so talkative.
He does not like the rain & will put himself to bed on a bad day & hides behind the
Sofa if it thunders or rains too hard. Now its cooler we have to shut the window
after he goes out - he keeps popping back to make sure we are still around.

John came home between lessons & let him out for a bit - but couldn’t find him when It was time for him to leave – he walked around the garden & looked over the walls - nowhere in sight So he shook a packed of dreamies – No Shadow (a few other cats – but not him)

Therefore knowing I was due home in 15 mins he had to leave – so left him out. Well as he was shutting the front gate He saw Shadow running down the garden towards him , but had to go so could not let him in.

I had a text from him to say he felt guilty for leaving him out but had to go.

When I got home he was crying on the windowsill & tapping the window – so i let him in & he practically leapt on top of me & wouldn’t leave me alone. He really was a shadow I could not move all night without him by my feet or on my lap. John came home & he went to the other side of the room to avoid him.for over 2 weeks he would not let him stroke him, feed him or sleep near him. He did let him brush him as he hates me doing it. He wouldn’t play with John but let him give him dreamies & let him in & out.

He still does not trust him shutting the window after he goes out.

I could not believe how upset john was or how much of a grudge Shadow held.

Eventually he made up with him - but if he sees one of us shut the window he is back on the sill checking We are still around & then goes off walkabout for a while.

He can be quite a panicky little cat.

Not really so little the vet weighed him & he was 5.2 kilos - he should be 5 kilos so has put on a lot of weight in a year as he was very tiny when he arrived in my garden. He has a lovely shiny black coat with very tiny white specks to show his age.

He loves his toys - i have bought him some very soft rubber balls & he will spend hours playing with them.You bounce them at him & he catches them in his paws or his mouth - he will carry one around with him too.
I had to put some in the bedroom as there is more room to run around. He plays hide & seek with John, he hides a ball or toy in John’s slipper some days. John put his foot in his slipper & found a toy mouse.

We have seen him try & carry Johns slipper to his bed (they are quite heavy as he size 10 slippers) he also knows where all his toys are. If one goes under the TV or the wardrobe he keeps taking me there till I get it out for him.

John hid one of his coloured balls the other night while Shadow was eating – he came back in checked his toys & spent ages sorting them & counting & looking around for the little green ball. He went upstairs & John put the ball by his slippers
under the little table. Shadow came back down & suddenly spotted the toy - he got so excited he played with it for 10 mins & then carried it around with him & up to bed with him at the end of the day.

He is so funny – i don’t know who is more scared of who these days - Our Ginger visitor is still popping In for breakfast & dinner - he hides if he sees Shadow in the kitchen – but shadow retreats if he finds Ginger Nut in the kitchen. If somehow they manage to get in at the same time they sort of manage to ignore each other. Last night Ginger Nut was eating his tea & Shadow walked in - crept up to him & spent 5 mins getting closer & closer – started by sniffing the tip of his tail right up to his bottom. Then Ginger Nut turned round & both of them jumped back. Then Shadow went to his food bowl for his supper.

Ginger Nut scratched the door to come in so i opened it & Shadow crept behind me & they actually met nose to nose. Ginger Nut jumped back & Shadow side stepped him & went out to the back garden, Ginger nut dashed through the door and into the kitchen. At least he has stopped chasing ginger nut now & spitting at him.

Better go as seem to have spent the whole lunch time typing.

Hi Everyone

I can't believe how long it has been since I was on last.

I have been down with this terrible flu,bed ridden for 5 days and just too sick to even turn on my computer .

Went to hospital in the end as I could not breath,I have now got ventolin for my Lungs it has helped a lot but still very week with it ,my house needs a good clean but I can't yet .

Next year I will have the Flu shot even if it makes me sick ,I can't go through this again ,I thought I was going to die there for a while,Summer is just around the corner but it is still cold and wet.

Glad to hear you are all well,will be back intouch again soon .

please be carefull when towelling them down and make sure that you do it from head to tail as if you do not they can lose the water proof of their fur and become ill
it is much better to let them groom their selves dry

How is Shadow?

My two are fine and enjoying the better weather - although curiously they do like the rain and love me towelling them down.

Sally glad to hear he is feeling better - must make you feel better too.

I thought the Sheridan Smith one was awful - All the decent info could have been shown in about 15 mins.

At least we know how to play a banjo now & i think they must be on commission with a Banjo company considering the amount of times Banjo was mentioned in the hour.

I liked her parents & the sing a long the first time - I still don’t like her as a person.

If you look at the WDYTYA thread on here you will find out all the missing links that were not shown on the programme.

I hope the Mary Berry one will be a lot better this week - This series is driving me to drink (if i had any or drank it in the first place)

We all seem to have drifted off the thread these days. So different to 5 years ago- it was my life saver then & I would
have been so depressed after my 3 operations – I was so grateful for my friends on this thread who kept me going.

I am very grateful I only had to have the one operation this time & that touch wood all is well. I will find out on 8th Oct
If i need anything else done & then I can get some new lenses. It’s still a little foggy in places

yes it was a lot better although in places they kept repeating them selves

I thought the Sheridan Smith programme was back to 'normal'

Fascinating what info there is available - if you only know where to look.

I personally found the Brendan one very interesting.

I grew up hearing about the IRA bombing and nothing else as it was not allowed on the TV.

It was very interesting history - I learned a lot Thursday evening

I also love a good mystery at least they found and named the kier. Its amazing what is now out in the open. I need to read up on Michael Collins and find out a bit more about what the Real IRA was all about.

Its a part of history we never had at school, but my history teacher was retired army anyway so would not discuss anything on that part of history with us.

Well its that awful Sheridan Smith next week - I don't like her acting but it will be interesting to see what its all about. I think they are trying to spend too much time on social history these days.

Absolutely agree with you - this was not a good example of Family history.

The programme did, however, show that with the help of experts there is information out there that can assist in your search. Access to newspapers may give clues to long lost relatives.

I hope there is a good programme left amongst the celebrities left to see.

Well on the subject of Who Do you think You Are

I did like Julie Walters but the same old thing (social history) just went on far too long for me - we could have had at least 4 GG Parents lives analysed
In that amount of time. I got fed up hearing the same old thing repeated several times - we all know there was a situation in Ireland. if it had not been for Julie Walters i may have switched off.

I loved the Brian Blessed one but again only on one person but it did go a fair way back & it was interesting. I do love watcjhing him though and did learn a few things - so for me it was good value.

Tamzin Outhwaite - well what can I say - it stuck on the one person & was far too up to date and as for speaking about concentration camps on The Isle of Man - I cringed. I dont think i need to know anything else about making Ice Cream. She did not look amused when it splatted her did she. e sounded a very sweet person but not for the subject of an hour long programme. I lost the plot after the first 20 mins. Even fast forwarding didn't help.

I think this week they stay on the one person but he is trying to find out who murdered his recent ancestor in Ireland - so it may be a little more interesting.

I may end up giving up on this series as well - I think the last series lost the plot – they promised this series would be better and back to the old format.

Well so far it’s still the same old thing - find an ancestor & from a profession they have not had on before and do the whole programme on it, no matter how recent it may be.

I was so looking forward to this new series
