We are enjoying being in France, the weather is wonderful, lovely sunshine today. Off for a nice walk along the canal bank shortly then out for lunch, hard life but someone has to do it. I have done all the houswork and am now as free as a bird. We have a fairly constant visitor here, a lovely robin who perches on the veranda and sings his little heart out. Wish you were all here with us and we could all enjoy a lovely walk and chat together. Love to you all Evelyn XX

Hi all
I wonder why everyone is always so upset at Camilla?
She loves her man, has loved him since she was in her teens. He didn't propose to her before leaving the UK for a year, so she decided to accept the proposal from a second guy
That apparently didn't kill her love, and they re-kindled it.
I have never thought that Diana was the complete innocent that she's been portrayed as. She WAS far too young and starry eyed when she married.
Give Camilla one thing ......................... she's apparently made Charles happier than he's ever been.
and every one needs love
The fact that the boys are friendly and at ease with her seems to indicate that they accept her completely.
lovely sunny day here ........... but I still have this rotten cough and cold. It's a week now since it started!
OH has just left for his meeting, he'll spend a couple of days on the Island, and see our friends while he's over there.
I've cancelled out .... I still feel rotten, and it isn't fair to spread this around any more than I have to!
Take care everyone

I know where Cynthia is - Playing around on Evelyn's thread & making FBG get the rolling pin out.
I am not going to be brought into the great Camillagate situation - It was lovely to see the boys & Prince Philip all chatting away to her in the Abbey. At least she keeps well away from the press & not invite them in for personal chats.
Enough said i am going to crawl into my own shell - its a Diana free zone (couldn't stand the woman) - decided I am going to join Robert (opposite end of the country though) as its safer.
Take care all

Arrived safely in France. I am enjoying my retirement I worked till I was 72 so feel I have earned it. Yes I thoroughly enjoyed the Royal Wedding but also feel that Camilla must be a hard faced creature to show her face in the Abbey, why didnt she get a convenient dose of flu?most of the world would have appreciated it. Going to get ready to go out for lunch,whoopie no dishes to wash, oh happy me Love to all Evelyn X

Frank - Big gold star for being a great grandfather - still shouldn't take her into your bed very naughty. Hope she slept in her cot the next night.
Sylvia - have a nice hot toddy do you good
Evelyn hope you have a good time in France
Sue nice to know the drops are working - we tend to have day trippers here all the time - worst thing about being a well known seaside town.
Whats happened to Cynthia - have you tied yourself up in the bed sheets
Very peaceful couple of days off - all we want to do now is retire - no chance of that in the near future. More like work till we keel over at our desks, just to pay the bills.
At least the wind has gone now - little bit of sun today. I long to move - i would love a nice little house in the country. OH said thats fine as long as there is a very good bus service or you are still fit to be able to drive. i would love to try it though while still young enough - its no good when you are a lot older really. then you want somewhere peaceful but near to at least a grocers.
OH well you can but dream - one day we will the lotto - hopefully before we are too old to enjoy it.
Take care all - will try & pop in again later if i can.

Hi Everyone
I have had no internet for the last two days,some sort of clich they are telling us . I am all back together now.
What a great wedding I must admit Evelyn I cried I just felt so sad that Diana was not there and we had to look at Camilla playing the Mother roll. With her behaviour over the years it is a wonder they even let her into Westminster Abbey.
Cathrine looked wonderfull and so did all of her family I even think they outshone the Royals ,her mother was stunning as was her sister and her father just looked regal himself. I was surprised to see her brother too he was wonderfull not a foot wrong. I hope they go on and live a wonderfully happy life together just so long as the firm keeps there noses out of there business,somehow I don't think William will let that happen he seems very protective of her,maybe if Charles had helped Diana there would have been a dfferent result with there marriage I think the firm is responcible for most of the parting of the ways of a some of there royal weddings over the years.
Ben laden gone but I think we are in for a lot of upevil in the comimg months,a bit skarey.
Anne the Lilac s over here are beautifull but mostley they are in tree form,I always wait for them to bloom it is a spectactular sight.
Sylvia
Sorry to hear about your cold and hope it quickly disapears,we have our winter coming so I suspect there will be a few colds around us too.
OH back to work after a long Easter break just waiting now for all the holiday makers to go home and we get our town back to ourselves,I know that sounds nasty but it really gets so busy in Holiday times,we can't even do our shopping in peace.
My Eyes are coping with the Glucoma drops and I think I can feel the presure going down already ,they do feel a lot fresher or is that in my emagination.
Better get on with the housework,have a lovely day everyone. Catch you all later. Suex

That's the baby sitting over................
Put her into her cot at 10.00pm and she awoke sobbing away so old soft touch grandad picked her up and nursed her off to sleep again. Tried the cot again placing her on her front this time but with the same result so we gave in and took her in beside us. OH was out like a light while I was kicked punched and head butted by this little bundle of joy who was fast asleep but doing a good job of taking over my side of the bed............. I ended up with 12" of bed and my grandaughter lying at 90* to me kicking away happily. At least she slept which was more than I managed!!
Then today we had all the friends up for afternoon tea with Pimms and Cava which was very civilised and went off well. Tomorrow it's the turn of the family for afternoon tea and Pimms, Cava etc so we'll have to pray that everyone gets on without falling out........... I have six brothers and sisters!
Off to bed as I'm exhausted.

Hi all
we watched the 2 hour special on tv in the evening.
Lovely dress, and her sister also looked gorgeous. Harry seemed to appreciate that :))
I've also noticed that the Queen usually looks very solemn, and even sad faced, at all the weddings.
Got a really bad cold ... it's all been on my chest for the last 3 days, had no voice this morning, now I seem to be getting the runny nose bit
not happy!

Hello Josie and Anne.........I remember Princess Margaret's wedding vaguely. She was a beautiful woman in her time.
There have been a lot of comments about the similarities between Kate's dress and that worn by Princess Grace of Monaco.....now there was a beautiful woman indeed.
I thought Princess Anne looked a real misery to be honest. The Queen does tend to look solemn on such occasions....I've noticed that before.
Oooh thunder and lightening.....so jealous but sorry you had a bad night Anne. The lilac bush sounds lovely.
~~~~~ to all. must go and change the bed now!
Nice to have you back Evelyn - safe journey to France on Monday
Hope you have fun with the daughters & grandkiddies Frank
I agree with you about Beatrice & Eugeni - hadn't thought of the pantomime dame image - the blue outfit was awful & the very high heels. Camilla looked lovely in both her outfits and it was nice to see how well she gets on with the queen & prince Philip. For a change the wessex's let little Louise out in public - its about time. I liked Posh's hat, love to know how it stayed on & Tara PT's as well.
Didn't the queen & princess royal look miserable during the service - but were full of smiles before & after.
Some of the music was very miserable for a wedding, I was so please they had traditional hymns & Jerusalem.
Wonder where they will go for the honeymoon, i loved the old Astin Martin.
Well its saturday morning at 8am & i am at work today. Lets hope it stays very Q**** as not in the mood to be rushed off my feet today - had a bad night & feel very sleepy.
We had a fantastic lightening storm late last night - it lit up the whole room several times - but the thunder was very low key - lots of heavy rain - cheered up the OH - esp if its warm & sunny today - the grass grows so quickly. I think he would love to dig it all up & cover it in paving slabs & timber.
Our garden is on what use to be an old reservoir for the workhouse, its very bumpy & steep in places, also downland grass - its needs terracing but we don't have the wherewithal to do anything with it at the moment. If you dig more than 5 inches down you seem to hit chalk, no matter which part of the garden you are in.
When we first moved in & OH dug out the area for the shed all we found were bits of broken milk bottles & schallop shells and pieces of bike. He had to dig a long way to remove the old washing pole, found spokes from the wheel, then the tyres, then the wheel of a bike. Our neighbour offered to help as there was a very large concrete slab, as they managed to pull it up the bike frame came up with it & the remains of a spring bedstead. Our neighbour took it & put it up to secure his back fence to stop the kids over the back climbing over.
Even today we still find a few bottles & shells if we dig up the back of the garden.
My mums lilac is blossoming - such a funny bush - the year she died it stopped blooming - so OH thinned it out & it refused to blume for 5 years. The year we got married it bloomed for the first time since the year before she died, & has bloomed every year since. Very strange.
Mum was given that bush in 1967 & it use to live in an old sink unit on the roof terrace at our flat. We transported it in a bin liner to our old house in 1971 & planted it in the garden, when mum moved to this house in 1978, it had 3 bin liners & was in the back of a van. My ex planted it at the back of the garden for her & took some clippings & made a second bush at the other side. It never stopped flowering until 1992 - neither of the bushes flowered. My oh threatened both of them he would dig them up - so I don't know if it was his threat or our marriage that started them both off again.
Well its 8:30 now, still no calls better try & find something that looks like work to do, for when the others arrive in a few mins.
Take care all - will try & pop in over the weekend
The Wedding was wonderful. Loved Kate's dress similar style to Princess Margaret's Dress.
Could not get over how old and decrepit Charles has become, he looks nearly as old as his Father.
I agree the 2 Royal Princess's outfits were shocking.
Bon Voyage Evelyn, enjoy your stay in France.
Yes Cynthia I did notice that Kate bowed her head and thought it was a lovely gesture. To me they really do seem like a love match. I totally agree about Andrews daughters, they look like figures of fun, I wish someone could give them some good advice. I thought Kates Mother looked fantastic and didnt her Father look proud
Glad you've finished all that work Frank.....you must be worn out.......enjoy the grandchildren - they grow up so quickly. Bet you weren't very pleased at having to dismantle the sink....... oops.
Hello Evelyn good to have you back online again. I thought the whole wedding day was fantastic. They both looked absolutely fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed everything.....crowds...ceremony...processions etc.etc.
Did you notice on the procession from the Abbey to the Palace, that every time William saluted, Kate bowed her head in respect. What a lovely gesture. I am sure they will make a super King and Queen when the time comes.
Mind you, there were some weird and wonderful outfits weren't there? I reckon some of those hats must have been glued on! I felt sorry for the two daughters of Prince Andrews. I felt they looked like a couple of pantomime dames to be honest. Whoever is responsible for advising them on how to dress needs a good talking to.
Well, Robert, did you enjoy it too? Hope you have a tv in your shell!
Soon got back to reality by doing a pile of ironing.........lol
Love to all on this special day. Cx
I have watched the Royal Wedding and thought Catherine looked absolutely wonderful what a gorgeous dress, WOW.I think and hope that they will be very happy together, much happier than his parents ever were. How wonderful the bridesmaids looked as well. I thought of Diana and how proud she would have been of William, I bet I wasnt the only one to think that. Must make some coffee as I am very thirsty then I will start packing as we are off to France on Monday , we have company tomorow and Monday so wont have much free time then. Lots of love to everyone Evelyn XXX
Hello again,
That's me back in the land of the living and on holiday for ten days as my daughter, son-in-law and grand daughter are over from America for a wedding........ no, not that one although it's on the same day. We are baby sitting as the celebration is out near Loch Lomond and they willl be able to enjoy it a little better without worrying how their daughter is doing!
Just made it in time with the DIY as having finished the bedroom and added the finishing touches ( Ikea easy chairs and table, purple lamps, pictures etc) the bathroom sink washer went and try as I might, I could not separate the tap pieces and ended up having to remove the whole sink to gain access to the nuts holding the taps on............ even the screw fixings had rusted so some brute force was required! We now have two new taps and more importantly, a working hot tap.
This was the first meeting of our grand daughters since they were tiny babies and our Scottish grand daughter greeted our American grand daughter by giving her a breadstick and promptly grabbing it back .......... she's not tight, just economical with her gifts ;) True to form, she was not jet lagged at all by the flight over and went off to sleep at 9.00 pm to awaken at 5.00 am.
DOOOHH!!
They have all gone off to town with my wife and our girls going to pick a dress for the wedding while our son-in-laws hit the pub for some male bonding. I'm just having a wee rest as for the last few weeks I have been constantly on the go so thought I would enjoy this little bit of peace and quiet after I've done the dishes and hoovered up all the baby detritus that is part and parcel of grand children..... aaahh.
Anne, glad to see you enjoyed your break and don't forget to fill us in with all the details, both good and bad.
By the way, the weather up here in Scotland has been glorious for the last week as it's more like July and looks like carrying on in similar vein into next week. My daughter came over with all the Scottish holiday neccessities such as rain coats, wooly jumpers, rain cover for the buggy and they are off out in shorts and T shirts. Mind you this is the first time in six years that they've come over without having cold wind and rain!!
