Well thats me shorn and feeling better, I have been to the hairdressers, when I turn up needing a haircut my hairdresser always calls me Freddy, as Freddy Boswell from the programme Bread, I have the same kind of unruley hair as he had.I shall be O K now for about 3 weeks when the scissors will be needed again.
The Ven.Robert, that sounds good, well named.
Most of the folk I admire from history are Male, I shall need to put my thinking cap on to see if I can think of a female that I admire. Where is the party going to be held?.
I might try the fish pie one day.
Talking of food I guess I had better start cooking or at least deciding what I am going to cook for our evening meal.

It was a bomb threat, and beleived to be a hoax ......... phoned into the RCMP detachment near the airport .......... but they had to take all precautions.

Robert, I do hope you will be able to come to my party and that you are thinking about which historical figure you will come as. Maybe the Venerable Bede? Keep it a secret and then give us some clues and let's see if we can work out who each other is.

For once I agree with Cynthia although I might be a shade biased.

It has to be "Shir Shean" and I'm sure the venerable Robert would also agree.

By the way, how come Robert gets venerable and I get rolling pins.............

Susan, the Harry Potter films are very watchable and while the first couple may be referred to as kids films, they do gradually get darker and there are seven to plough through.......just get the popcorn, soda, turn on the video and sit back.
My OH read all the books but she still really enjoyed the films while I didn't have time to read so the films were a blessing for me.
I didn't set out to watch them but just got drawn into them.

Sylvia, that's pretty much the same as our fish pie although my OH uses salmon, smoked haddock and prawns.
That's us got a freezer full now..........mmm

Been running around like a idiot all day,paid all my bills early so I can sit a relax tonight .

I think I will come to your party as Maid Marion seeing as what we call our Russ(Josie will beg to differ and be correct) Crow is bringing out a new movie on the subject of Robin Hood .

As a child that was my favorite Show I loved Robin Hood ,Lancselot and William Tell,they were all good show and not a swear word to be heard.

My favorite James bond was Roger Moore he was also Lancselot ,I loved him and Pierce Brosnan ,My daughter think he is just it.

Does anyone have acsess to South African Shipping lists of passengers out of Uk,trying to help a poster whos Family went to South Africa in the early 1900.

The idea is you decide who you are going to be - then think up a few questions & post them - one by one - so we all have to guess who you are.

My favourite JB is Roger Moore closly followed by Pieres Brosnan - My OH thinks Sean Connery as he was that era - i only like Sean Connery now he is older & better looking - he was a wonderful Robin Hood in Robin & Marion.

Susan you will be on Franks hit list now - fancy asking about the great Burns - I do like his poems - on our honeymoon we went to his house & saw the museum - it was one of the things i always wanted to do if I ever went North of the border - Had to wait until i was old enough to get a passport and insurance first though - had to pay danger money as well for protection.

My friend said thats why the Romans built Hadrians wall to keep the Scots out of the civilised world - then it started falling down - and a few escaped to England. Good thing they found the polyfiller & Hard as Nails as more would have escaped.

Only joking Frank & the Venerable Robert - I love visiting Scotland - & I was married there.

Cynthia - how about a Ceilidh - is your garden big enough? the 29th is bank holiday weekend - it could last that long knowing us.

You need to give us a clue to your location Cynthia so Wayne can get Sir Richard to log his route to pick up Susan & Josie on the way. I may get the plane up to you if the ash clound isn't performing - easier than the train.

Thank you for the compliment Robert - I'll have to make sure that there is some tiffin there especially for you. I could also ask Sylvia to make her fish pie and bring it with her. We will have to have some lamingtons as everyone enjoyed them so much last year.

Hi all

I was out for most of the day, then found some information of my Schofield family.

That started because I got an answer to a question I posed re Benjamin Schofield over on gen.forum in January 2009. Didn't quite like to tell the guy that the person I was working with (Benjamin being our joint something-x grandfather) had found the answer, last January.


I went to physio today ...... apparently I pulled the hamstring last week, so that is why the leg has been hurting

Problem is it is the left leg, which is supposed to be the good leg.

I have a cane which is supposed to be helping my right leg get better. That means that I use the cane in my left hand.


BUT the physio said that I should also use it to help the hamstring , so to switch sides.


Unfortunately, my right leg didn't like being left without support.


Picture me walking down the street taking 10-20 steps with the cane in my right hand, then switching over to use it on the left side, then switching over .........................


People must have thought I was daft!


He also told me that as soon as I got home I was to lie on my bed with my feet up on the wall for 20 minutes ........ my foot was swelling which is a side effect of the hamstring injury. I have to say, it seemed to help!

OH decided to help with dinner, so he peeled the potatoes to make mashed potatoes (for topping a fish pie). See what you did Frank?!

There I am lying on the bed, feet up the wall, head on a pillow ....... and he brings in the pan with potatoes covered with water to see if I thought he had done enough. I couldn't lift my head enough to see into the pan, and he couldn't turn the pan on its side because of the water .............................





think I'll go to bed soon!!

Hi Everyone, Well winter has finally arrived, it's been raining most of the day.
and the day time temps are dropping. Though I am lucky in that we do not get snow here in Wellington, Its only ever snowed below 200feet 3 times in my life time. So snow is quite a novelty to me still, but we do get icy cold southerly winds straight off Antarctica.

you Aussies are welcome to Russell Crowe,
we Kiwi's have disowned him because of his loutish behaviour, he is one of 4 Brothers
One is World renowned Cricket Player. Totally unlike his brother, we are happy to claim him.

Sorry to hear about your hamstring, Sylvia.
I am still recovering from spraining the ligaments first in my right knee then 2 months later in the left knee due to left leg taking all the strain. I have suffered excruciating pain with my knees and had great difficulty walking down hills and steps and had to use a walking stick on occasions So am able to relate to your problem and sympathize.

Anne please go easy on our venerable Robert, we have finally managed to get him out of his shell and look forward to seeing him at Cynthia's Party.

Well must away to make dinner for OH having Snapper Fillets done in Beer Batter with crinkle cut Oven Fries and Mushrooms cooked in garlic.

Only a quickie today as just been in training for 3 hours & loads to do - also emails playing up.

I have spoken to RC & everyone was so jealous - but can't discuss it - have to admit it did not sound like him at all - he was very nice - also spoke to his girlfriend (of the time) she was nice.

Surprised nothing back from Frank - Have I frightened him off or just annoyed him that much he can't type - worked with too many Glaswegians in my time & have to admit i can't understand a word when they get very excited.

So how is our Sylvia this afternoon? I've heard about being driven 'up the wall', but your dilemma takes on a whole new meaning.


Food? Bring absolutely anything you would like to - favourites, local dishes, old family dishes etc. Include a recipe too if you want to so that we can all try them.


I think it would take more than that to scare our Frank off - tough as old boots he is. Do you think he will come to the party as a Scotsman or surprise us by being Henry VIII??


Took the grandchildren to the local tennis courts today and am glad to sit down I can tell you. My muscles seem to have been replaced by jelly somehow! I was demoted to ballboy. Oh dear.

Sylvia, you have my sympathies as I once did my hamstring big time..........black & blue from ankle to thigh and it hurt like h@##.
Still had to work which probably helped to move it on but still took a couple of weeks.

Just leave your OH to get on with it.........we men can sometimes surprise you all ;))
