thanks Susan yep the Murray is up 'bout 15ins which is good and the lakes are wet once more BUT for how long, time will tell. They are still fighting over which n what state should have and should not, they are all sticking to their own rules. The River belongs to the county not the bloody states.
Evelyn whilst eating a lamington i ventured out to find this: 1901 census RIGGS, Emily Maud, 1885, 16, F, Weymouth, Dorsetshire. RIGGS Emily Maud, 16, Devon Higher Sethwood, Dorset Melcombe Regis, Kitchen Maid Domestic

Oh poor Kiwibird, I do so sympathise with you. Sometimes I am in the middle of typing a screed when the computer shuts down to do updates...."how very rude", I think to myself. No doubt Frank will tell us how to overcome these irritations but could you just hide that rolling pin for a minute or you'll scare him away?
Glad you found us Wayno....we miss your contributions...so come back soon.
Robert, come on sunshine, let's make sure that you know where we are.
Sue, I still find it strange to hear you talking about lighting fires....usually you're boiling hot! So glad to hear that things are going well with Jayden by the way - great news.
Finding those guidelines yesterday threw me a little and I have altered the letter I send out to newbies. I posted it on another thread and JaneyC, she of the razor sharp wit (and tongue) spotted it. She approved but added a rider. I thought it was amusing and invited her to write a parody on my letter. She did. It was so unsendable but so funny. Goodness me, I don't know how she thinks of all those things to say. I think I can talk, but .......! Now Frank, it's time for you to say something nice about me!!
Well, I had better be about my business....must first have a quick look at BBCiplayer to see a young autistic musician who was singing on a programme last week. He attends the school where my daughter works and I promised I would take a peek......ah must run.
Bye all. Back later. Cx.

Hi Wayne,
Nice to see you back again but just to fill you in, it was Sylvia with her wincyette nightie and Anne extolling the vitues of satin & lace which probably did for the thread. Of course our Delia there moaning about her cooker probably didn't help but she'll blame anyone for her cooking ;))
How come I keep getting painted as the devil here anyway?
I have this image of a coven of women sitting around rubbing their ageing wooden rolling pins together and making fire, even Susan's at it...............and then someone wants me to say something nice about them ;)

Oh back again
Josie I am not the youngest on here - i think that may be Debbie - who has a GR gremlin which keeps shutting her down - so she can't post at the moment. I don't know how many times i have lost an entry & had to do it all over again.
Hope Evelyn got home safe yesterday.
How about a theme party Cynthia? What does everyone think?
Susan we must get something sorted for yours later on in the year as well.
Hows work going Josie?

Just a small tip when you are posting here.
Right click and copy your finished message before previewing or sending it so that if it does go belly up you can paste your message into the text box again............you won't have lost it.
Simples ;)
Of course there are some here who would just use Eye of Newt, and Toe of Frogge, Wool of Bat, and Tongue of Dogge to bring back their message but it does make such a mess of your computer !
By the way Sylvia, I hope it wasn't your OH that you found in your freezer.........

Wonder if this belongs to anyone around here?

Hi Anne, surely you don't mean me.......now let's see,
Wealthy..............two lovely daughters' weddings!? Hansome..........mmm, in the eye of the beholder? Quick wit............only because I have time to carefully consider my words before I put them to paper. Sharp tongue.....serenely quiet, probably more so than Robert.
...........our survey said ### ;)

Hello All, Well here I am back in Guernsey. We had a nice smooth crossing from St Malo yesterday. Today has been spent food shopping and washing and ironing, most of it is done and put away now thank goodness. How wonderful to see our Wayne on the thread again, he is a rather special person, he spent many hours trying to find Diane (my mother) for me but sadly she is still hiding. Yes Wayne you have found my lovely Grandma Roy, my dads mother, she was born in Dawlish Devon in 1885 and had 11 siblings which has been a shock to me as I only ever knew her sisters Elizabeth and Margaret(always known as Maggie)I know that Grandma,s mother was called Elizabeth Lang and her father was John Riggs, Elizabeths mother was Ann Hadley who was married to James Lang. Emily married my grandad Herbert Walter ROY who was born in Pimblico in 1880. Thats about all I know of the family. Wayne you shouldnt have mentioned Lamingtons, you have started me longing for them again, they really are special. Must go now Love to all my friends Evelyn I am 77 so perhaps I am mother of the group

Dear Evelyn,it's good to have you home again and I think we would all be very happy to have you as the 'mother' of this group. Mind you, I have to mention that you may have to keep your eye on one of your adopted children and keep Sylvia's rolling pin to hand. Of course, I wouldn't dream of mentioning any names but........
Frank! How lovely to see you around today.
Anne, I like the idea of a theme party......now, what shall we choose??
Nice to hear from you again Robert.....how is life in your shell? Not too much volcanic ash drifting your way I hope.
The boards seem very quiet tonight, maybe everyone is out enjoying the long nights - I very much doubt they are glued to the tv.......not much on. OH is watching Diehard for the 1001st time. Mind you, I do rather like Alan Rickman I have to admit.
Ah well, a little pootle around before I wander off.
Night all. Cx.

Hi
Lovely to see Wayne and Robert!
found 3 beef short ribs braised in a Tomato Ketchup with added spices sauce.
Very tasty, with rice ........ also found in the freezer
OH was hidden too far down and I couldn't lift him out :))))))))
Last night was also left overs ....... but from the fridge.
A short while ago we heard, and saw, an F18 fighter jet screaming overhead
Not a common sight
Then I heard on the radio that there were reports of TWO F18s escorting a 737 passenger plane from the Pacific towards Vancouver Airport. One of the F18s was flying very close to the cockpit of the 737, and an onlooker on the ground though the pilot seemed to be trying to make eye contact.
The 737 has now landed at Vancouver ........ it is a Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong, with a reported (but unconfirmed) "security threat"

Cynthia,
What is it about the baddies that they always win the women's hearts...........damsels in distress always want the dark knight to come galloping in to drag them off, but poor old prince charming has to wait for sleeping beauty to stop snoring her head off and wake up from her beauty sleep. Then she'll probably complain that she needs to wash her hair and that the prince's armour is too noisy and his horse is making a mess.
................women ;))
Oh look, Sylvia is getting the cold shoulder from her OH............the mice are fighting back !

Oh Sylvia - your airport & fighters are big news here
Sounds like you had a bit of fun
Frank I can always count on you to counter my quotes - did you enjoy the wand fight - I too like some of the baddies - can't quite get rid of Professor Snape when I see him on film - we were watching Diehard for the hundreth time - I still like it. I do love the ending to the 2nd one (I think it is) where he is at the airport in the snow & he sets fire to the plane - I love the fire leaping off the ground to the planes fuel tank.
Good to have you back home Evelyn
What do you fancy Cynthia - its your party your theme
Harry Pottter A main character from your fav book TV character Historical theme Robin Hood (just to be topical) Famous historical person Murder Mystery party Titanic experience
or something else - sounds fun - i know what Evel.yn will bring - Lamingtons
Off for a mooch about the boards for a change - while the Monaco GP is on

I am just licking my lips, our very nice neighbour brought us some mackerell fillets so I cooked them for lunch and ate them with some nice bread and butter, the tastiest fish I have had in a long while, yummy. We will have roast chicken for our evening meal. Cynthia when and where is this party? As you are such a special lady should we not all wear our Sunday best? Will Viv be coming and bring Ishbel with her? I do hope so, then Ishbel and I can go walkies, she is a beautiful little dog. Ron has lit the fire as it is quite cold here today and he enjoys his nap in front of the fire ,at the moment he is watching the grande prix, actually watching with his eyes open, must put that in the diary. Dirty dishes are calling so off I must go,take care everyone Evelyn XX

Thank you Anne, of course it's all done in the best possible taste !
I've not seen the latest Harry Potter film yet as we are waiting for the Dvd release so don't spoil it for me..........I've put my earplugs in. ;) For christmas I got my OH the box set of six films and we ended up watching all of them in a Harry Potter day...........magic!
Sylvia, such excitement in the air over your bit. Aren't you glad you travel by train !
OH's been getting carried away in the kitchen today having just prepared 8x2 fish pies and since there's only two of us I do hope they are for the freezer.......we have plenty of room as we tend to keep our nearest & dearest out of it.
When the kids were younger we had a murder mystery night for them with their friends with the dark, candle lit room and the eerie tape recording playing...........well it was way before CDs or MP3 players! My OH and I were the butler and maid and yes Cynthia, those heels were diabolical........... good fun.

Waiting for the party girl to decide what she wants to do
Evelyn will leave the fresh fish thank you - my family are alergic to that specis of fish so i have been told.
Take care all - going to see what the OH is up to - don't really like it when he mopes about upstairs.
