Do you believe this? Can anyone be this stupid? According to someone on TV the other day this conversation heard in a cafe (two women of course).
1st woman - looking at the moon "Wonder which is the furthest - the moon or Florida?"
2nd woman - HELLO!!! Can you SEE Florida?"

That's great Jeanie!
Morning everyone ............. well, it's still just morning for me!
OH is doing well after his eye thingy ........ I had to get up this morning and put another "one half inch strip" of the cream inside his lower lid. He'd tried to do it himself ......... and got it all over his eyelashes!
It's raining, again, and is chilly, again! When will summer come??
Anne ............. I do hope that that family is not here yet. They'll be having a wet cold time of it if they are!!
Off for a mooch ...... and nearly time for lunch as well.

Back for a minute. Have been to see my grandson ... what a corker he is too! House full of people and we get to talking about nursing homes and care for the elderly. Great stuff!
Must see if I can get any more messages out today.
When's the next party, can someone remind me please? I need to get my shoes out again I think.

Anne, no need for dayglo vests or weights to make a hit as all of you have already made quite a lasting impression on me and it's lovely to be able to share things good and bad.
I don't really feel that I was brave, only doing what I felt was the best thing in order to get through a problem in the same way that you have all had to come to terms with whatever eventualities you came across in your own lives.
To come through that successfully is the making of an individual, however difficult it may appear at the time.
Thanks Jeanie, the alcoholic analogy was about the fact that you sometimes have to stand up and say it out loud.......that's the acceptance of the facts and the beginning of the end.
Sylvia, tell him to hold down the bottom lid, and then hold up the upper lid then he can't blink so no messy eyelashes. It's just like puting in contact lenses..............simples !
There's our dear Cynthia (thanks for the double chocha mocca skinny latte hugs) up and at them with her dreaded PMs.......I was shocked that anyone would send you nasty messages in reply to your helpful PMs as we are well aware that you would bend over backwards (despite your advanced years) in order to help out on these threads.....do you wear your glasses around your neck on a little string so they don't fall off ;)
Finally, a little thought from the Daily Mail,
Apparently modern men on public transport are reluctant to give up their seats to women perceived as being pregnant for fear of mistakenly upsetting ladies of a more portly appearance.
"Excuse me, may I offer you my seat" ......... SLAP ....... "what kind of a girl do you think I am" ;))
Oh yes, Cynthia.........forgot about nursing homes.

Hi Everyone
I just love this thread,.
I can't wait in the morning to turn my computer on to see all of your comments.
I always go away laughing,it is a great start to the day.....always puts me in a good frame of mind and that is important.
Anne I think it is Cynthia waiting for the eye op,mine are not far away, blind as a bat without my specks.
Frank ..Glad you are back to your cheeky self, the thread was not the same without you.
Robert where are you,you can come out of your shell now we are back to normal....what ever normal means. It is a very cold morning today ,got down to 2c last night, now that does not sound like OZ. Everyone thinks of OZ being hot all the time but really we only get the hot weather from Dec to maybe end of April.......sometimes going into May . the rest of the time it is quite cool.
It is wages day so I am be off to the bank on my deadly treadly... I always wear my helmet .
Catch you all later. Have a wonderfull day . Suex

Good morning everyone.
Just a flying visit. Cynthia & Sylvia - party. Evelyn's birthday is on Thursday 29th mine is on Sunday 1st. Think you'll have to ask everyone which day would suit best.
More funnies please. TV news quite depressing and now I suppose it will be a month of wall to wall football. Heaven help me. I suppose I'll have to do more work instead of watching telly!
Have a good day/evening/night's sleep - whichever applies.

Off to my cave in the Highlands next week (not taking the shell, there is still snow on the Mountains!)
Be thinking of you all while I am hunting the Haggis or should that be Haggises or Haggi.
Be nice to each other.

Ooohh Cynthia, casting aspersions on Sylvia's rolling pin are we?
It's quite obvious that Sylvia caught her OH's eye...........it's called love........Doohh
By the way, your glasses are perched on top of your head, blue rinse or not.
Now then Robert, there have been reports of haggis being brainwashed into supporting England and these should not be eaten. They are easily identified by the number of the beast on their brow......1966.... but it is very worn out.
Be careful out there.

Hi Frank,
Living in England as I do, it is sheer hell that England are and Scotland are not in the World Cup. My cave in the Cairngorms does not have TV so I will get peace for a week, but heaven help me if England do WIN the World Cup. Life for a Scot down here will not be worth living!!! Thanks for your advice on the brainwashed Haggis!!

Robert,
I'm sure if England win the World Cup, Cynthia, Anne et all will welcome you back with open arms and they are probably padding out your shell in anticipation of your low key return.
But what if they lose..............
I will not be supporting England as I can follow the country of my birth...France and then of course my son-in-law's country...USA ...ooops ;))

I hesitate to interrupt.....but I really am not bothered who wins! Does that make me a traitor? Oh dear. May the best team win. [shhh..didn't even know that Scotland weren't in it!!]
Now Robert, be sure and keep warm up in that cave of yours...they can be quite damp you know. Have a lovely time and we hope to see you back with us soon.
Thanks for the tip about FMP Frank. It's going to be a short lived perk if England go out early isn't it???
Have had grandson because he is still on half term and today, he twisted his granddad around his little finger to watch the 1st match. Now normally, granddad would rather pull his own teeth out with nail scissors but he played along happily. It was lovely to hear them chattering and shouting away.
Just had a phone call from a friend who has been on a Norwegian Cruise....sounded really good. The nearest I will ever get is "ferry, cross the Mersey".
Hope everyone is well, so I will wish you all a very goodnight....Cx.

Have a great trip to the cave, Robert
Come back safely, we'll keep the shell for you.
we're hoping to go to our cabin up north week after next.
Problem for us is that media coverage of the soccer games starts at 4:30 am
and Canada isn't in it anyway!

Dear Robert enjoy your week of peace in your cave, remember its's not winter up there, so don't forget, and decide to hibernate. we expect to see you back across the boarder in a week.
Have had a very hectic week, first chance I've had to relax at my computer.
In the space of 15 hours I was told about a Job, rang up about it, got it on the strength of the phone call and handed in my resignation a half an hour later when I got to work.
They had been threatening to cut my hours because the business was not turning over enough to sustain 2 of us. And as it turned out there was a letter waiting for me to say my hours had been slashed from 26 to 16 as of next week. So it was most fortuitous that I have another job to walk into.
My new job is much closer to home, travel time is15 mins instead of an hour, full time hours and better pay and conditions. Will be handling the customers at a local Dry-cleaners store.
Because of my reduced hours in the job I have just resigned from i will be able to work part time at the dry-cleaners for the next 2 weeks while I work out my notice. So I will not lose any income but instead be better off.
As I am not sports minded I really do not care who wins the world cup I am just glad it is not taking place over here. especially as next year we have the Rugby world cup happening here in NZ. Lots of upheaval..
Now it's time Jeanie for some genealogy and humor all rolled into one.
Judy Wallman, a professional genealogy researcher in southern California, was doing some personal work on her own tree.
She discovered that both herself and US Senator Harry Reid share a great great uncle named Remus Reid who was hanged for Horse stealing and Train Robbery in Montana in 1889.
The only Photo of Remus shows him standing on the Gallows in Montana County. On the back is an inscription. Remus Reid horse thief sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1885, escaped 1887, Robbed the Montana Flyer 6 times, Caught by Pinkerton Detectives, convicted and hanged 1889.
Judy emailed the Congressman for more information about their Great Great Uncle Remus. Believe it or not Harry Reid's staff sent back the following biographical sketch for her Genealogy Research.
Remus Reid was a famous Cowboy in the Montana Territory. His business Empire grew to include the acquisition of valuable Equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Montana Rail- -Road beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to Government service, finnaly taking leave to resume his dealings with the Rail Road. In 1887 he was the key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889 Remus passed away during an important Civic function held in his honour, when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed.
NOW THAT IS HOW IT'S DONE FOLKS! THATS REAL SPIN
Off to make dinner a nice Rice Risotto. Then to watch another James Bond Movie I think it's George Lazenby tonight.

Have a good holiday in the cave Robert - watch out for spiders - look what happened when another famous Robert found a spider in his cave.
Josie - well done- Go girl - now thats good planning - good luck in your new job.
I HATE FOOTBALL - I HATE THE WORLD CUP - I have been trying to get tickets for the dreaded thing for weeks and still having problems now - aparently UK customs are stopping WC tickets entering the country. So we are getting copies of the tickets here & sending to our clients and then arranging for them to collect in SA. Who started all this - why can't they watch it on TV.
Thank you for the Tip Frank - I can see us all on the FMP site tonight.
For somwone who hates the thing - I have several plans of the stadium - a WC plan of all games - I can tell you the price of all the tickets and the best place to watch from - Help I am being taken over by Footie - then its Tennis and match plans - ticket prices - Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek
We have a weekend to ourselves and OH teaching for a couple of hours this morning - time to myself.
Will pop back again in a bit
Frank good to have you back to your normal self, you have managed to get Cynthia back on track again - I enjoy a good bit of leg pulling - its been missing lately.
Take care all

Wondered why you had been so quiet this week. Well done. You've really struck lucky on the job front. Congratulations.
Must say Americans are the masters of spin after reading that tale. Or should I say tall story?
World Cup - give me strength! OTT or what? I'm sick of it already.
Good weekend everyone. J x
