Hi Sue, and everyone
Things still seem pretty peaceful :-D
We had rain most of today:-D
Everything seems so fresh, and the cooler temperature was also very welcome. :-D
I'm just making arrangements for us to go up to OH's sister in a couple of weeks time ................. it's our anniversary on the 12th, and then OH will turn 75 a week later.
I've found it difficult to decide what to do for his birthday, but then had the bright idea 2 days ago that he might enjoy going up to see his sis, and the niece and her husband who live in the same town (the niece who had her appendix out a few weeks ago). He jumped at the idea. Sis-i-l is going to check out a place for us to go for dinner
I have to book things this weekend ................ we'll fly up there, stay a week, then take the train home.
The train is a bit "round the hills" .................. it's a 2 day trip from sis' town to Jasper, staying overnight in a hotel. We then have to stay overnight in Jasper, before getting on to The Canadian for the overnight trip to Vancouver
Sis-i-l told me tonight that she starts back to work on Sunday, half time at first. It's a month since she had the last chemo treatment.
Sue .........<3 <3 <3 <3 (((xxx)))
take care everyone

Hello Friends
Things are slowly getting back to normal ,I think once the funeral is over on Wednesday that will help as well.
It has been an absolutely horrendous week,we are doing our best to stay close to his Family as they are all in shock at present.
It is very hard to stay up for now but all will be better as time goes by.
Only went on the boards today for the first time ,Reggie had a go at me for helping someone out on the help board...said I should let the person find info for herself even though she was supplying help herself ,not a good start for my comeback...you will be pleased to know I held my tongue.
Sylvia Happy anniversary for the 12th and happy birthday to your OH ,I hope you have a wonderful time with family.
Thankyou all for your kind words I do not know what I would do without you all.
Anne I am going to try and watch the Cricket now ,just can't get into it yet ,this game looks good for the Aussies though...hope so we need a win.
Drop in tomorrow. Love you all my friends <3

Hi everyone......
It's going to take a while for your friend and her family to come to terms with the sudden loss Sue.........poor things...they will need all the support they can get. Good job you are around.
The boards are quite quiet at the moment - Summer and all that I suppose. I saw your little 'discussion' Sue........ :-D
We've had a pleasant morning and a damp afternoon....nothing quite like the British weather for keeping one on one's toes is there....? :-D :-D
It's been quite a busy week for me but I have, at least, done a little 'tree' work. Got in touch with a new relative who was absolutely delighted because I could let her have some photographs......
OH and I try to go for a walk each morning and it's been beautiful on some days. Strolling along a country lane or wandering through the woods can be idyllic and it's good for us too.... :-D
Hope everyone has a good week....... Love, Cx <3

Hi Everyone, I haven't checked in for so long you probably have forgotten who I am LOL After catching up, I was sorry to hear that a number of you have been hurt by the unkindness of others on this Site. Take heart that the number of nice people on this site out number the nasty ones.
Dear 'Ven' Robert I am was glad to see that you still come out of your shell now and then and was pleased that your operation went well.
My Sympathies Sue.
Very Belated Birthday Greetings Evelyn and anyone else I have missed during my absence.
The last seven months have been very full on, I became seriously ill in Jan, I thought it was due to the heat as we had the most amazing Summer. I blew up like a balloon and my legs and feet became so swollen that it felt like I had severe sun burn, I had difficulty breathing and moving about was exhausting. I stopped eating. I went and saw the Doctor, she thought I was having a Heart attack after examining me and sent me for a blood test immediately. I got the results the next day and much to my relieve My Heart was fine. Though the results showed I was borderline Diabetic. I was told they would take a test again in 3 months for the Diabetes. I was determined that I was not going to become fully Diabetic and have to give up all my favourite foods. The Doctor could not give me a diagnosis for the health problems I had so I did some research for myself and did my own diagnosis. I discovered that I had allowed myself to become malnourished to the point of malnutrition. A combination of stress and Poverty last year when I had no work for 8 weeks and a nasty stomach Bug I got in Dec combined with eating a lot of sugar and not much else had caused my symptoms. I put myself on my own diet of plenty of good nutritious food 3 meals day. I cut 90% sugar out of my diet. No cakes, sweets, fizzy Drinks and cut back on carbs such as bread and potatoes. I lost 5kgs and when they did the blood test for Diabetes again I was no longer in the risk bracket. I feel really good now and could not believe how ill I had allowed myself to become I now have an occasional biscuit but I keep away from artificial and chemical ingredients in my food where possible and watch my fat intake.
Have survived a massive storm we had in Wellington in July with winds of 140kms. That brought down hundreds of trees causing major power outages. We were without power for 15 hours some parts of the city were without power for days. The wind caused major sea damage, a large section of seawall was destroyed and the Cities Rail system was brought to a halt with the waves undermining a length of rail tracks that run alongside the harbour.
We were just getting back to normal when we were shaken by a 6.5 earthquake late one Sunday afternoon about 4 weeks ago this was followed by a week of small after shocks. The central City was closed on the Monday, and there was no public transport
A large part of Wellington's CBD is built on reclaimed land and there was damage to a number of buildings mainly broken windows and pieces off stone facades on older buildings which were strewn all over a couple of streets.
The only buildings to sustain major damage funnily enough were not the century old buildings that the council wanted people to strengthen or move out of after they were identified as being a risk after the Christchurch quake 2 years ago. But 2 brand new buildings that were opened a year ago. They were Banks and their interiors where totally trashed with falling ceiling panels causing water pipes in the building to burst. Was very shaky for a week after the quake and I still feel unease when I hear rumbling noises.[ Earthquakes can often be heard before you feel the shake.]
It's time I went and did something about Dinner. Take care everyone catch you all later. (I promise) :-D

Josie
Well done
As a a Typr II diabetic, I wish I had been as resolute as you were in keeping to a diet to avoid becoming diabetic. I was told by my GP that I was at risk, but being a chocaholic and loving icecream I was confirmed at the second test.
Since the diagnosis I have been very good - the alternative is too awful to contemplate. I lost 13kg, but have reached a plateau. Our surgery has a twice yearly diabetic clinic where blood results are analysed and you get to chat to a dietician.

Hello Friends
It has been a while since I posted last ,what with one thing and another I have been fairly busy.
The funeral went well lots of people there as he was very well known in town,it was very sad and has been quite draining on everyone .
Josie it nice to hear from you again ,I did the same as you with my diet and took out sugar it made all the difference . My sugar levels are now normal ,I just watch things a bit better than I used too.
You have been having a lot of bad luck over there in New Zealand over the last twelve months ,OZ is doing OK at the moment but you never know what is going to hit us next. Lets hope your next twelve months are better for you and your family :-D <3.
The boards are getting nasty again ...looks like rambling Rose has now gone and cancelled her membership, don't know what this is all about but I can guess our favorite troublemaker is at it again...I could be wrong mind you ;-)
I had better get off and get dinner, big storm tonight with strong winds :-(
Love to my friends <3

Goodness me! I hadn't realised it has been so long since I was here.....apologies!
Josie....lovely to see you again. People do tend to come and go on the threads because of their real life problems etc.
So very sorry to hear that you have been so poorly.......but very relieved that you are on the mend. Do take care of yourself........(((hugs))) <3
Glad the funeral went okay Sue......hopefully the widow can now move on a little bit, but it will all take time.
I've been meeting myself coming back the last couple of weeks. Also decided that it was time to hire a carpet cleaning machine........wow....that was pretty tiring but, at least, the carpets look good again. :-D
OH is a bit up and down at the moment, so that is keeping me occupied. Daughter is off work because of the school holidays and is at a loose end. I sometimes feel like a Butlins Red Coat as I attempt to keep everyone happy.. :-D
It's now bedtime and I am more than ready to go........so, goodnight to all my friends on here........and take care........Cx <3

Josie - lovely to hear from you again - sorry to hear you ahve been so ill.
I think NZ has had a real spell of Mother nature at her worse - goodness only knows what is going on in the world at the moment.
Its been busy here but had a couple of "Good" things - which make a nice change - hopefully the 2nd one will happen - but not saying anything yet.
Off for a visit of London Heathrow for the day next week (that was the fist thing good to happen) we have had a bad few years - hopefully our luck is changing for the better now. Going to look at some lounges & the 777. should be fun
Sue sorry to hear the boards are bad again
I really need to hire a carpet cleaner -
Take care all

Hi Sue, and everyone
Josie ................ nice to see you again, but sorry to hear about your ill-health
I hear Wellington had a 6.8 'quake yesterday (the 15th). Hope you are OK???
I also have to watch my diet, as I was diagnosed as "pre-diabetic" June last year .............. I mamanged to lose about 28/28 lbs between then and January this year .............. but seem to have reached an equilibrium.
We leave in about an hour to go to the airport to catch the plane north to OH's sister, and the second part of our "August" celebrations>
I'll be back!!!
Take care everyone
Sue ...................... yep, our "favourite" person was behind RamblingRose's departure :-(

Hi Everyone, A little 'shaken and stirred' but other wise okay , following a 6.5 Quake and then a succession of aftershocks between 5.5 and 6.2 yesterday afternoon.
I was in the City at the time and all the Trains where suspended while they checked the lines . This left 1000's of people including myself stranded. It took me 3 hours to get home, I managed to get on bus that took me near where my Brother lives and he then drove me the 25kms to my place.'
Traffic trying to leave the City was gridlocked for hours. Damage in Wellington was minimal. The major damage to property was in the small town of Seddon at the top of the South Island which was closest to the epicenter.
Thank you everyone for your kind wishes regarding my health.
Anne am glad to hear that things are improving for you, hope you enjoy your trip to Heathrow.
Have a great trip Sylvia,
I have recently been looking at 'You tube' clips of The Rockie Mountaineer train Journey and the amazing scenery so know that your train trip will be quite spectacular,I quite envy you maybe one day when the Money tree flowers I will be able to visit Canada. Catch you all later Josie :-) :-) :-) <3 <3 <3

Glad to hear you're okay Josie.......it must be awful when the earthquakes strike...take care.
I love travelling by train but rarely get to do so these days.......there is something special about trains I always think.
Talking about carpet cleaning Anne.........it's humiliating to see how black the water is when you empty it away......dreadful it is.........!!! The other thing is that you have to empty the container several times per room........dear oh dear... :-(
It's been pouring with rain today which is a shame. We have our local agricultural show tomorrow and, at this rate, it's going to be a washout!! It's a pity because a lot of hard work goes into it.
Anyway, off to play for a little while............take care all. Cx <3
