Hi everyone,

We do seem a bit hit and miss on here don't we? I think it's probably because we're all busy in our own ways........I have to admit to spending a fair amount of time on FB chatting to the same people as I chat to on here..... :-S

I think Evelyn's sub may have run out Anne, but I do talk to her 'over there' ;-) I'm hoping to get a copy of her baptism certificate to see if it helps in the search for Diane.

I'm surprised Arthur's not worn out looking after those two kittens - they sound more mischievous than children.......... :-D

Haven't been up to anything much myself really.....just the usual humdrum stuff.....which is fine by me....... :-D

Take care all........ Cx <3 <3

Hi Everyone

It has been a busy few weeks for us .

Started clearing out the computer room and thought now would be a good time to paint .

We have gone through a few rooms of late and the place is looking good .

With it being so hot outside we thought now was a good time to redecorate ,my Sister is now in OZ but in Sydney for a few days then off to New Zealand to visit her OH's Mother.
They get to WA on the 20th of March,so I shall get her to me on the 27th when she will spent a few days in Busselton before she goes back to Perth and flies home.

I am hoping the weather cools down a bit for her she never did like it hot .

So nice to see you all keeping the thread going ,I am sorry to have left you all with it but I now have a bit more spare time and should be able to get back to my Genealogy again ...I have missed it but I think you need a bit of a break every now and then.

Love to you all and I hope you all have a great weekend.

Suex
<3 <3 <3 :-D :-D :-D

Edit

I have notice it took me about 10 trys to get to page 175 on this thread ...kept getting the error page ...so nothing has changed then? :-|

Hi everyone,
It has been a very long time since I last posted, I have had some serious problems with my computer, I am still using XP, but I hope to change to the new windows 8 in a couple of months time.

Just as an aside it has been trying to snow this morning, and is still trying now. I went to the crem today and took my late wife, June, some flowers for Mothers Day. It is now almost 2 1/2 years since she passed and I miss her greatly. Sometimes it is nice to get some peace and quiet but most times I talk to her.

My former d in l has been round with her partner and my oldest grand daughter and did a brilliant "Spring Clean" for me. The flat is now very pristine.

regards to everyone
John

Good morning friends :-D

Hello John, nice to see you......... :-)

It sounds as though you've been really busy Sue - but at least you have a lot to show for your efforts. Once the better weather comes here, I am hoping to get some decorating done and some curtains washed. I would love a new carpet but my OH goes pale at the very thought....... :-D

Gosh Sylvia, those three years have passed quickly since your grandson was born......he'll be at school in no time bless him.

Mother's Day was busy for me and the family came round for a takeaway last night. I thought I'd gone deaf when they left!!!! So much chatter and laughter - but that's something to treasure.

Must go and get my brake light fixed. Love to all......Cx <3

Gosh a busy thread for a change - you are all far too energetic for me - I need to find my energy again - i think I lost it over the winter when i had that bug - still don’t feel completely well.

Cynthia if your OH goes pale at the thought of a new carpet - what on earth happens when you mention new Double Glazing !

It is the new system at work - no more smiley faces or anything

The children certainly grow up very fast - my nephew will be 16 at the end of the month & his little sister 7 two days later - seems only yesterday he was a baby.

Lovely memories Cynthia even if it is a lot of noise -

It wasn't till we went on holiday with the children that we realised how much noise they make in the early morning before breakfast.

At the time there were the 4 of them - 3 yrs old - nearly 4 yrs - 4 and a half &
10 yrs old. Oh my goodness - how I relish my quiet peaceful mornings now.

I do miss my very hectic times with the animals - at one point we had 3 adult cats - 2 Adult dogs - 6 kittens & 4 puppies - how I miss those days.

Take care all

Hi Sue

and everyone
xxx

we're having strange weather here ........... 2 days sun and getting warm in the day (around 10C), but clear and very cool at night (around 1C). Then a couple of days of heavy rain, with almost the same temperature night and day!!

Hi, John ................. nice to see you back xxx

Arthur ........

....... hope your talk goes well tomorrow (or rather, later today your time!!).

Your mention of photos of "bottoms up" reminded me of tales told about some botanists visiting in the old Russia

A huge International Botanical Congress was held in Leningrad in 1975 ..... around 6,000 people.

As you might expect, this caused major problems to the KGB, who liked to keep tabs on everyone. Every time any of us stopped to talk to others, we'd see at least 2 blue-suited KGB hovering around.

Mind you, the blue suits were also always the first at any buffet table at any "event" ........... hitting the supply of caviar!

Anyway, there was a 5 day post-Congress tour to a botanically interesting area. We didn't go on it, but several of our friends did, and they later told the story.

There were about 30 botanists, 1 Intourist Guide, and 2 KGB. The Intourist didn't really seem to know any botany, but had been told where the coach was to stop.

So ............ they get to the first stop, instructions given that the botanists could get off BUT they were to stay together and not go away from the road.

You can guess what happened, can't you??

30 botanists spread over the hillside, bottoms up, within seconds ............ and 1 Intourist Guide and 2 KGB dancing around in fury trying to get them all back

Same thing happened at the second stop.

After that, Intourist and KGB came to an agreement ................ they would ignore all the bottoms up, and just hope they all came back to the coach!!

:-D :-D :-D :-D

take care everyone

Sounds fun Sylvia

Guess what - we have S*** again & loads of it & yesterday with the high wind was drifting all over the place - one side of the road had around 7-10 inches the other side just a layer of Ice aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh

After nearly 24 hours the busses are just beginning to run again - its leathal on the side roads - it took us 45 mins to walk downhill to work this morning - normally 20 - last night I had a lift instead of 7 mins home by car - it took us 45 mins as everything was held up trying to climb our steep hills & so many busses were stuck halfway up the hills.

Looking out the window now - its wonderful sunshine & the S*** is slowly melting - the poor daffodils very very unhappy this morning but the snowdrops loved it. so much for Spring.

The betting shops have stopped taking bets now soe a white easter.

I hope they pick a good pope this time - one thats not too old or with very strange ideas - I love the conclave & all the pomp - I wonder if they will show the film - The Shoes of the Fisherman - I love that film

Well better go - work wont wait

My friend said I can do the smiley faces without the little thingy's - so will give it a go

Take care all <3 <3 ;P :S

Sally

That is awful. I hope he is not in pain.

Have you had your GP visit? Might be advisable to better understand what the problem is.

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 14 Mar 2013 13:01

Oh Sally I agree with Arthur thats awful - you should complain to the local health authority - i am sure they are getting worse - i am very surprised the GP has not visited you - It sounds a very scary journey - your poor OH must have been in so much pain.

I hope things improve very soon & he will feel a lot better

I love the photo of the kittens Arthur they look beautiful & as if butter wouldn't melt - such good little girls - cant believe its the same little minxes as you have been telling us about.

Well most of the S*** has now gone just a load of ice now to slide on - we had a brief sleet storm for 30 mins last night & then it turned to 5 mins of rain -

Anyone got any thoughts on the new Pope - he looks friendly - hope he will be better than the old one - with old fashioned ideas and hid himself away all the time. He did make a lot more saints - so that was one good thing & at least he opened his mouth at the end & gave them what for - about time someone had the guts to stand up to the old cronies at the Vatican.

We need another JP 2nd now he was how a real pope should be – we need a visible pope & someone who has lived in the real world & knows the problems real people have.

I hope he has a few modern ways with him too. Some of the RC ideas need reforming & bringing up to date.

Well thats me off my soap box

Take care all

Old Report 14 Mar 2013 14:04

The new Pope
I am a Christian who believes in the statement by the Reverend Charles Kingsley in his book 'The Water Babies'. "Do unto others as you would be done by". My mother introduced me to this and I have tried to live my life by this simple thought.
On the Daily Politics, Lord Gus O'Donnell, the previous Cabinet Secretary, and a Roman Catholic said - I hope he will bring the Church to the modern world,so that many people, who are Catholics but who do not obey all the teachings of the Church, will be reassured. He particularly thought that the role of women in the Church needed to be addressed. I have paraphased his words, but I think I have captured his meaning I think he makes some very valid points.

On the kittens, they passed their post op checkup with flying colours, although both refused to co-operate with vet when she tried to take their temperature!. Now for the big adventure - the outdoors. I am waiting until the conditions are good for me i.e. slightly warmenr, no snow and no biting east wind.

Nearly every photo shows them 'Butter wouldn't melt in our mouth', but the reality is, in the case of Nikki, different. She is a lovable minx who is the first to come and take a nap on me when I am watching the TV.

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 16 Mar 2013 09:48

Arthur - I fully agree with your philosophy and the statements

Its seems from recent comments in "The Press" that the new pope is quite old fashioned in his ways

Well time will tell - but i do hope he will be a lot more visable to his flock - of which I am not one of. I have spent many years investigating beliefs in all areas & have yet to find a niche for me - one in which I feel happy with all their opinions.
Some groups do have some very strange ideas - but each to their own beliefs.

Very wet & very strong winds here today - seems we are back in the winter

I think the cats are beautiful & all have their own little personalities - it will be fun to watch then when they are let loose out in the garden - my friend has hers on a cat harness & long lead. Bet they will be up the nearest tree or fence before you can say "Dreamies" I only have to slightly move a packet & the cat is there worshiping me & the bag - there must be something very special in those little treats. Its worse than a cat nip toy.

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Old Report 18 Mar 2013 09:40

Had a busy and enjoyable weekend. A friend came to stay and we went to the Alpine Garden Society Show at Gillingham, collecting another friend who lives in the village.
It is a great opportunity to meet old friends who live some distance away and travel the UK attanding Shows. Also an opportunity to see some great planTs grown superbly, and an opportunity to buy plants.
After the Show went back to another friend to see his garden and snowdrop collection - plus some excellent vegetable stew.
Finally to the garden of the friend who lives in the village to see her garden. She too has a vast snowdrop collection, plus she is growing day lilies (Hemerocallis) to sell. She has a vast area - third of an acre maybe with beautifully grown plants. She has been cross pollinate and has a greenhouse full of seedlings that may flower this year. She has also made her own crosses with Hellebores and we came away with pots of them - Jenny wanted them to go to good homes.

On Sunday it was Wisley for the meeting of the Fritillaria Group. another chance to meet old friends. The main lecture was given by another friend from Scotland. He told the story of his garden in 2011 in Aberdeen. His passion, and mine, is bulbs and with a backdrop of mature trees and plentiful Rhododendrons he has created a spectacular garden with colour and interest all year round. Made all of us plan to do better.

The big moment arrived this morning, the sun came out and the kittens were introduced to the back garden. I had bought harnesses to control them on this initial outing - there is a very large wood a garden away from mine - but in the event did not use them.
They were very good and when one started to go back to the house, I picked her up and put her in the kitchen. The other one soon followed.

Sun has now gone in, so catching up on emails and paperwork.
