Hi Everyone

Good morning to you all,one sore head today and I was out again first thing today getting another load of wood.
We are all filled up now so winter can do its thing.

Kiwibird you are correct about Nostrodamas,it was very good reading I might add when I started thinking about having him as my person, a lot of his predictions have come true.

I fell asleep in the chair last night ,to much wine and Lamingtons ,it sounds like we all had a lot of fun.

Whos next for a party.

I am off for a shower,we get quite grotty out getting wood ,a few bones are feeling old.

Fantastic party Cynthia - shame Frank went missing

Agree with Sue - we must do it again soon - who's next on the birthday front. Mine is September.

Have to go - OH stomping around getting grumpy (again - all you ever do is sit on the computer)

See you all later.

Well here I am back in Guernsey after a wonderful party and a nights stop over at Cynthias. Thank you so much for letting me stay Cynthia, you really are a gem, everyone should have a friend like you.
I am wearing my normal clothes today, have put the siren suit away for another day.
My birthday is in July (29th) and we had a lovely time last year lets hope we can all get together again then.
I am going to have a nice cup of coffee now and quiet sit down whilst Ron snores away watching TV.
Much love to you all and thanks for a lovely time
Evelyn

I'm looking for John Francis Hughes born 24.3.1946 in Northampton. I have his birth certificate but it appears he does not exist in the UK. there are no records for him anywhere. Would you be able to give me any pointers on where to go from here. I have a date of birth for his mother Annie Hughes born 27.7.1911 but this is from records at the workhouse in Northhamton where John was born. I have tried to obtain her birth certificate but doesn't exist. Father is named as Walter Thomson Burnett who I have traced to a nursing home in Eastbourne. He has Alzeimers and no recollection of having a son. He left Annie when John was v young. John had 3 older sisters by a different dad.Thats as much as I know. Oh and he worked when he was in his early 20's at TW Broadbents in Huddersfield. (No archived records of staff) He gained 11 o'levels at a grammar school, again believed to be in Huddersfield.

Stretchiinnngggg. Hello everyone and thank you so much for making my birthday very special. I appreciated your kind thoughts more than you will ever know. I'm glad you all joined in with the guessing game, it was just a bit of fun and you came up trumps.

Someone's done a grand job in clearing up which was very kind...thanks. Not much left now so that's a good sign.

Poor Sylvia, she was worn out wasn't she? Glad she made it though and I see she managed a cooked breakfast. Good for her.

Robert was very quiet but I do hope he enjoyed it.

Must go and send some messages out now but thank you all once again.

Lots of love.

Cx. who just loves the Scarlet Pimpernel film!!

Hi Everyone

Just a quick visit before I go back to do the mass of things I should have done yesterday when I was enjoying the party.

Well, Evelyn as our birth dates are only separated by 4 years and 3 days I think I'll just enjoy your celebrations on the 29th July. Even though we had such a good time yesterday I think it would be stretching our grey matter and our researching (etc.) time too much to do both - assuming it will be fancy dress again of course.

Oh yes, meant to say. Our Sylvia crept in as a Canadian feminist, politician and social activist no less. I think we'll stick with the Sylvia we know!

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 30 May 2010 21:32

gooooooooooooooooood afternoon everyone

just got home ..... and we didn't ditvh this time!!

There is one problem with Nellie

........... I admire everything she did as a feminist, getting women the vote, good works, her writings, etc. She was one of 5 women who worked through the 20s to get women in Canada the vote ..... the Act originally called women "persons" and these 5 succeeded in getting the act changed

and she was apparently a delightful woman to know

BUT

unfortunately she believed in eugenics, as so many people did in the 30s and 40s.

I have to take a very deep breath over that, and trust that she would have changed her mind in the 50s and 60s.

Cynthia ..... thank you soooooo much for a lovely party. I had great fun

Ooh poor Josie! Hope you didn't catch it at the party!! Sylvia has made that soup herself, so you will hopefully feel better soon because it's absolutely delicious. Hope the pigeons didn't spill any on the way.Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Just waiting for some visitors to arrive. All nice and tidy round here....it's all go, go, go isn't it??

Going for a quick browse to calm my nerves.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 31 May 2010 21:01

saw elsewhere that you survived the visitors!

chilly and wet here AGAIN!

The local farmers were all cheering in late April ... the weather had been so good, that the crops were all well ahead. The strawberry farmers said they had a bumper crop that woul be at market by June 1st, earlier than usual.

Now? They're crying in their beer. The weather has been so bad for the last 2 or 3 weeks that the crops are way behind. The strawberry plants still have flowers full open, the berries are small and still green.

off for a mooch

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 31 May 2010 21:11

I did indeed survive. You forget how quiet it is when there are just 2 of you again!!

We're beginning to get flowers on our strawberries but, like you, our weather is cold and grim. Even put the heating back on yesterday brrrrr.

It's half term so no school run this week which disorientates me after a while!

Wonder where Frank has got to? Must have been some baby shower!! No doubt he will reappear when the time is right.

Venerable Robert........did you get home alright? I do hope you are keeping snug and warm in your shell and free from all onslaughts of this fickle weather.

Will have a browse and an early night I think.

Hi Everyone

Josie sorry to hear you are not feeling well,it is that time of the year again is'nt it.

I am very lucky,I seldom get colds.

It is cold wet and windy today so a short ride down the shop this morning and then back home again to my nice warm fire..

Cynthia what a wonderful party ,just about everyone was there except Frank and Wayno really.
Wayne is a very busy man these days but he is doing a very valuable job.

I had better get off and do some work ,be back later tonight.

Love to you all.

It is very cold tonight so out with the old fleecy nighties tonight I think.
