Nice to see lots of activity on the thread
Been busy trying to load this years Norton Security - just don't ask - got so cross - they whole lot nearly went out the window = with cables attached = lost the DVD again - so had to find the reset book. - where the H*** is Frank when you need him
OH trying to sort out his new teaching licence - and it won't stick on the windscreen - so had to keep rushing out to help there
Bit of a fraught day
Sorry to hear about the fires Sue - throw the book at him
Can you send your rain to OZ Sylvia?
Arthur - hope the building work goes well on your country estate - puts my little mud hut in the shade
Love & hugs to Reece & Evelyn
Sally keep up the good work on the medal front
Robert & Cynthia keep up the good work
Have to dash as need to restart the computer again

Just a quick message to say that I have been laid low by the "shingles" and to day is the first day that I've started to feel a little improvement. Probably because I also stopped taking the prescribed medication on Friday evening!
Warmest thanks for your kind messages which are much appreciated.
Sending love to all but especially to Evelyn and Ron and to Susan experiencing those awful bush fires.
Love to you all.

Hi all xx
lovely to see you Reece, and to hear you are feeling a little better.
Having had chicken pox, I am susceptible to shingles, and was intrigued to hear the other week that there is now apparently a Shingles Vaccine, to be given to the "older" citizens.
I must remember to ask my doctor about it when I go to see him in December ...... along with getting him to give me the flu shot, which I couldn't have at the "normal" time.
It poured all yesterday, all night, and well into this morning ........ but now the sun is shining :-D
Arthur .... I somehow get the impression that you are a keen gardener :-D
I worked at a Botanical Garden for over 30 years ....... but inside, keeping records, editing, etc. They wouldn't let me out into the garden :-D :-D :-D
Anne .......... I moved to AVG about 3 years ago .......... my gogogeek guy said it was better than Norton ........... and there is a free version that seems to work very well
take care everyone

Hope all has one well with Arthur's drive and the raking today! I agree with Sylvia - you seem to be a very keen gardener the amount of time you spend out there......... :-D
Those fires sound dreadful Sue, but I haven't seen anything on our news about them. It's heartbreaking to watch such things because you feel so helpless.
I've got AVG too Anne, but have a feeling my son has mentioned another one. Must check.
Glad to hear you are on the mend Reece. I was fortunate that my episode of Shingles was very shortlived but it was still painful.
It's really quite chilly here today. Had better warm myself up with a spot of ironing..... :-D
Sending <3 <3 <3 to Evelyn and Ron.

I am a keen gardener, but the state of the back garden does not reflect it. All the work is going into the front garden as this is seen by more people.
Sadly no raking today - the builder's back still bad and he is visiting a chiropracter. I think if he can drive, he will bring someone to do the raking tomorrow to finish the front.
I too use AVG. Think Norton bad and McAfee not much better. My brother is a computer whizz and he changed from AVG - cannot remember to whom, but will investigate nearer the time my licence expires.
Evelyn - thinking of you both.

Morning all - thanks for the info - I have to admit I don't know what AVG is
I have always used Norton as its the one we use to use at BT & always seems to keep our PC safe - but it is expensive.
Wet again here - but we need the rain
I haven't seen anything about the fires on our TV.
All seems quiet at the moment - busy as usual at work
Just printing off my ASDA vouchers before I get ready for work & checking the bank account as pay day tomorrow
Reece hope you feel a lot better soon & its all cleared up by Christmas
Sally enjoy your trip out
Arthur hope your man gets better soon & you can get the drive sorted
Love & Hugs to Evelyn & Ron
Sue - Cynthia & Sylvia - hows the dreaded Christmas shopping going.
Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3

Hi Everyone
I don't know how everyone else is going this Christmas but I just can't get going with it. We put the tree up but the ceiling decorations are not done yet and the outside lights well I think it may be all done after Christmas at this rate.
Our fires are all out now but there is a big thingy going on about who is to blame for it all and a terrible lot of people of people who lost there homes are very very angry. There are a few goverment ministers that may loose there jobs over it.
Saly enjoy your day with your Dau, I always enjoy mine . Reece a speedy recovery ,its nearly Christmas.
Anyone have any snow yet or is that a bad word ?.
I am off to bed ,Doc changed my meds again ssso I guess it will take a while to get used too. Wish they would just leave them alone .
Have my icons back. Love to everyone Evelyne and Ron big hugs.

Hi all xx
just can't believe it's December!
I'm not buying too many presents this year .............. I bought OH a very good, expensive camera in the summer. That was anniversary, birthday and Christmas present all in one!
It's easier to send J&M money when we're not actually going over there, and we're doing the same for MJ. I like to send a couple of small presents so they do have something to open on Christmas morning ........... like a small book or desk calendar. But otherwise the cost of mailing a parcel, or sending it by courier is so high. I've just orderd MJ a couple of books on-line.
So that's them sorted.
We're going to our friends on the Island for Christmas ...... now, all 5 of them are a problem! Every one of them has everything they need (just like us!). But I think I've got that sorted out ......... again done some internet buying.
My present is probably going to be a subscription to the new British Newspapers Archives :-D
We had snow in Vancouver a couple of weeks ago, just a couple of cms here at the house, more elsewhere. It had gone by lunch time. But there is plenty of new snow on the mountains across the harbour ................. the ski slopes there have been open for at least 2 weeks ........... a very early opening!
We seem to be alternating gales and rain with lovely sunny days ........... currently in a sunny period through the weekend. It is chilly though. Around 5C during the day, and around 0C overnight.

Hi all,
Reece, I hope you are feeling a bit better every day........... :-D
Anne, AVG is available with a free issue which is what many people use. Google and have a look.
OH didn't want to bother with Christmas decs this year - we don't have much to start with - just a fibre optic tree and few ornaments. I have sorted him out! However, nothing will be going up until at least the week before Christmas and it will come down in the New Year!
I am not really a Christmas person - there's too much stress around mainly due to the fact that my daughter has Asperger's and they find the change of routine very difficult to cope with.......and don't we know it!!
Roll on 6th January............ :-D
Sorry about your medal Sally - hope you find out about it one way or another.
Arthur hope your drive gets sorted before we have snow...... :-D
I've nearly finished my Christmas shopping and, I have to admit, have found that I am giving more vouchers than per usual. It's so difficult to always know what young adults have or what they like etc.etc.
Had visitors yesterday and they brought me a large box of chocolates.....now, when do I open them? Now? I thought you'd say that :-D :-D
Love to all. Cx.

Hi Everyone
Just finished the decors for the inside of the house and the tree is all done,My OH said I am just like a kid with it all but it is the only thing that gets me into the mood.
Very hot today 37c and they say 15c overnight mind you that is Perth Temps we are always a few de's cooler.
Cynthia the Kids get us vouchers from the local hardware we can always do with things from there ...they sell everything you can think of inc Garden products that always goes down well with me .
My Grandchildren are very hard to buy for but I try to get them what they want up to an amount of money that we can afford.
Arthur I am glad you are into Gardening as I love it ...Roses are my thing and various potted plants.
Frank if you look in now and again I hope you have a nice Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
I am doing a salad for dinner tonight to hot to cook.

Delighted to say that my front garden is now transformed. It is wonderful what 22 tonnes of pea shingle can do!
I am going to leave planting in this very large area of grit until the Spring. It has started to get cold. In case you think that grit is all I have at the front, the area is in front of a planted 'scree' area, there are shrubs at both sides and a raised bed on one side that will soon have snowdrops, crocus and daffodils blooming. When I bought my bungalow I asked if there were any bulbs in the front garden - "hundreds" was the reply, and I have not been disappointed.
Today it is sunny, but the temperature at the moment is 4C and only forecast to go to 6C this afternoon. Tomorrow cold rain. Well it is December.

Flying visit - busy as usual - off to the outlaws at the weekend - the Christmas visit - as we are "not family" so not invited for actual Christmas day this year. A couple of years ago they were begging us to drive up & join them on the day or stay over.
My Mother in Law advised us last time we visited- we are just having a family Christmas this year - everyone together - no friends - however her meaning of "Family Christmas" does not include her son & daughter in law - we don't actually count as their family for this sort of thing.
Anyone know the actual definition of "Family"
So we are visiting them on 3rd/4th Dec & having our meal with them then - & will be at home on our own in our "Family" unit on the 25th.
One of my team has the same thing from his brother - who annouced to his mum & brother - we are just having a "family" Christmas this year - what are you two doing. So him & his mum are going to them this weekend for their Christmas & he is driving up to his mum for the actual Festive day in their "family "unit
Its obviously something that is catching on here - so at least i don't feel left out now.
No S*** can't bring myself to say the word. Our decorations will go up next week as we will be at home.
Must rush away
Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3

Enjoy your weekend Anne. Families are funny things at times aren't they? Sometimes it's easier to be with friends than with family.
There is a saying "Friends are the family we choose for ourselves".
Very wet and windy here today - cold too! As Arthur says....well, it's December. I can cope as long as we don't have s**w. Sssshhh.
Managed to get our decorations out of the attic but have put them in the garage for now. Can't face putting them up yet.......
Got in contact with Evelyn a couple of days ago and things are not good at the moment. I'm sure she knows we are all thinking of them both at this worrying time. <3 <3
Have just been watching Strictly Come Dancing and the few who are left are very good indeed. No idea who will win in the end though.
Love to all. Cx

Hi Everyone
We are really heating up now with a lot of humid days around not very nice I can tell you. We are being told to expect thunderstorms tonight that will be interesting.
Sylvia I am sorry to hear all is not well with Evelyn and Ron,the weather will not be helping them being so cold in the uk at present either ,my love and thought are with them both.
I have lost my icons again and my page keeps telling me I have an Erroe on Page down in nthe left hand corner of my screen. So I don't know what is going on anyone got any pointers I can use . Frank where are you ?
Been with my Grandaughter today for her 5mth ultrasound ,it was wonderfull to watch and they think it is a girl that makes me happy but I think they wanted a boy first.
Anne I hope your weekend went well,I was also left out a bit as being family on my Oh's side a long time ago mind you but seeing as I do almost everything for my Mother In law now I have been accepted after 42 years of marriage.
I am finally good enough for her son so too speak
I am off to water my pot plants who are very thirsty,33c today.
Suex Sorry I still have no icons showing up.

Afternoon all - flying visit again - its manic here
<3 to Evelyn - chin up - we are all with you in spirit
Weird weekend - not fun - no mention of Christmas - we both felt picked on - but not actually if you know what I mean - no-one said anything but it was a feeling
Oh well - we are just going to pop in on them in a couple of weeks just to drop off the Christmas things
They all seem very concerned about the Nieces new boy friend - they don't know anything about him - so they are going to get the interrogating light out - he is visiting for the day - to meet the family & then the spanish inquisition starts.
They think he is after her money - (all in their minds) - well she has her own house & a trust fund & a good job - where as he has a job with the council (no prospects - not a lot of cash - aparently no brains needed for this kind of thing) - he has a room in a friends house - no car - no assets
Therefore he must be after her for her money only & what he can get out of her. Forget the idea that they may actually love each other - no wonder she has been with him for a lonfg while & not told them. its not as if she is that young - she is 38.
I got so cross - i just stuck my head in the local papers & huffed. why can't they leave people to make up their own minds & live their own lives.
Well on that note - back tot he grindstone
Take care all - keep up the good work <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Hi Everyone
Anne your story sounds so familiar re; your in laws. They sounds so rapt up in themselves with no room for anyone else and money is the most important thing to them. My in laws were the same ,now we have to contend with my MIL putting all the Grandchildren in competition with each other but none of them care and they just get on with it ,she does have her favorites though.
We had very bad thunderstorms yesterday and it was quite hot with it so you can emagine what it was like here.
Going up to Perth on Saturday for my Nephews Wedding ,coming home that same night though only about 2 and a half hours drive home and it will save us paying out for a hotel room overnight ,lots to do yet before Christmas ....bad time for a Weddinmg realy on top of Christmas .
Love to Evelyn and Ron are thoughts are with you both.

Sounds as though you are both very busy......... :-D
Haven't had the grandchildren this week as they have been poorly but it's given me a chance to start on my Christmas cards and I may do some wrapping tomorrow.
My friend (the one who was so poorly), has been doing really well and looking forward to going home this month. Unfortunately, she had a fall a couple of weeks ago and the staff at the care home thought she was okay. However, her mobility wasn't improving so they took her for an x-ray today. It seems as though she has fractured her hip and is having an operation tomorrow morning!! :-( Just hoping this doesn't set her back too much....
Hasn't it been windy? Dear oh dear! I thought someone was throwing blocks of ice against the window last night - it was so loud and fierce. Seems we have more of the same to come...... :-S
My son has promised to get us some rock salt before it s***s. Looks like it could be soon in coming.......arrrrrghhhh.
I'm half watching Frozen Planet at the moment and it really makes you shiver. Can't understand why folk want to go out to such a cold place :-S
Nearly bedtime here so will say goodnight and love to all..... <3 <3

Hi Everyone
Very pleasant here at the moment around 27c with light breezes now if could only stay at that I will be happy but I know it won't.
Cynthia pleased to hear your friend is doing better, very bad luck to fracture her hip that must be very painful for her. I hope all goes well for her op.
I can't believe how quick Christmas has come getting bits and piece done ever so slowly though. Our town gets very busy this time of the year ,you can see the holiday makers coming in already with there caravans in tow.
Oh has a work party on tonight so don't have to cook for him and I suppose he will come home merry. Always my job to take him to and pick him up from these things so he does not get behind a driving wheel,he would not anyway but you never know.
My sister up in Yorkshire said it is very cold and she too expects Snow....sorry about that word Cynthia I know you hate it.
I am looking forward to next Christmas now as then we will have our new little Grt Grand Daughter by then. And so the wheels of time turn...wonderful isn't it.
My thoughts are with Evelyn and Ron at the moment I do hope everything is going a bit better for them.
Time to take the OH for his Chrissy Party ,I shall have the computer to myself tonight .
