I have been absent for the past few days as my broadband speed dropped to an unacceptable level. Asked BT to investigate and whatever they did to resolve the problem - it didn't!! No internet connection whatsoever. This happened on Thursday and they will investigate thoroughly on Tuesday!!
My neighbour allowed me to access his connection and the speed is terrific. Could do with out TV - box replaced but the new one is operating intermittently and cannot be relied upon to record programmes whilst I am out. Managed to see my team win on Thursday, although missed 7 minutes as the box froze during half time and needed resetting. Awaiting thee engineer who is promised to visit sometime today - very restrictive having to wait in possibly all day, especially when the weather is so good.
My family investigations hve not revealed any Ag labs. My direct line were barge buildres from 1750 through to the late 1800s. Also silk weavers based in Sudbury, Suffolk. There is plenty written on the silk weving industry in Sudbury, but have not found any on the barge building.

This site has been all to pot for over 24 hours. There are so many threads about the problems both on here and on Facebook. It's a darned nuisance when you can't communicate with friends on here.
Anyway, off to pick up granddaughter for a couple of hours shoppng. More time to chat later......

I agree with Cynthia about the problems with the site.
Nearly every time I attempt to get the site - I get an error message.
Nearly every time I get to the site, there is an error message when I try to get this thread.

Hi Everyone
Arthur I am having the same trouble ,I kept getting the error page . It seems to settle for a while then it is back again.
I do hope they fix it soon it is really doing my head in at times, everytime they mess with it it goes haywire again ...why don't they just leave it be .
Funny weather here again overcast and light seas and another person taken by a shark off Perth's Rottnest Island,he was an American Tourist diving on his own .
He was attacked down deep and the rest of his body popped up beside his dive boat and his mates so you can imagine the shock for them trying to pull him into the boat.
Our premier has now issued a shoot to kill on the shark but we all think it has been left to late with so many White Pointer Sharks swimming around now you never know if you have the right one.
I for one do not want any of my family in the water, that is 5 Shark deaths now over the last 14 months in WA alone.
Australia is a beautiful country but it has so many dangerous things that can kill a person you have to be very careful.
Evelyn sorry nothing seems to b coming up in your thread of late and I hope Ron is feeling better. It makes you wonder what is missing with Diane ...with her very distinctve name you would think she would be easy to find ,if she wanted to be that is .
I am out to the garden now ,be back later.
Have a good day everyone . Suex :-D :-D :-D <3
Edit Sally thankyou for your interset ...I have sent a message to the Grimsby Library and they are getting back to me .Suex <3

The site isn't too bad for me at the moment but I still get the occasional error message. Sometimes I have to 'refresh' the page to get things moving again. There are lots of complaints threads on here and on FB re the problems. Makes you wonder about how competent 'The team' really are doesn't it?
Don't like the sound of those sharks Sue. Hope someone gets it sorted soon. Are you anywhere near the Queen is going??
We've just had a visitor who arrived to tell us of the arrival of a new baby....that was lovely news but, the funny part was......he brought his 12 month old dog with him. The dog's name was......
Frank! :-D
Hope 'our' Frank is doing okay. We still miss him on here don't we?
Hoping to have a nice quiet afternoon and evening. I never thought I could ever spend as much time in front of a computer as I do. I used to read, crotchet and do jigsaws.....that's mostly gone now........dear oh dear!
Love to all. Cx.

What an effort to get on to this site, today it took me 6 attempts before it would allow me to sign in. the other day I could go anywhere on the site and even post but could not open my tree such frustration :-| :-| :-|
Hope you had a nice trip to Canterbury Ann
Today is windy and overcast no rain predicted supposed to reach a high of 18cel but at the moment does not feel any hotter then 10cel.
I shouldn't complain It's Spring and my Street is full of Trees in full Blossom and I have been watching the Starlings collecting material to build their nests, I wake up each morning to lovely Bird Song and it's getting a lot warmer.
Well all of NZ is still on a high after we won The Rugby World Cup. There was a Victory Parade Down Auckland's main Street yesterday, which just happened to be a public Holiday here. Today there is a Parade in Christchurch, who should have hosted the quarter final matches. and then tomorrow we get our Parade here in Wellington.
Back to my Research, slowly making some headway with verifying info I got ages ago from a Cousin and had not got around to doing anything with.
Take Care everyone catch you all later Josie

Hi all xxx
had my hair cut today
have 2 physio appointments tomorrow ....... at 1 pm with my regular physio, then another at 3 pm with the "breast health" one who is helping me get full mobility back in my arm. I will have time for coffee between them
OH was at that same clinic today (Monday) ............... he slipped off a ladder on Thursday when picking some quince. He was only on the 3rd step, but landed flat on his back.
Being an obstinate male, he wouldn't make an appointment with either doctor or physio "until he knew what he'd done".
Anyway, he decided this morning that he really should see a physio ....... and was lucky enough to get an appointment at lunchtime.
Josie ...... what are the flowering trees?
I remember living in Melbourne in the 70s, and the street we lived on was lined with Eucalyptus trees. Then we went up to Queensland, and saw the Jacaranda trees. The most gorgeous blue!
take care everyone

Hi Sylvia, hope the Physio went well. I have Cherry Blossom in my front yard and my next door neighbour has a white Apple Blossom in her garden we have a Native tree called a Kohwai which has beautiful yellow blossom type flowers across the Road . Which is the favourite tree of one of our large Native Birds the Tui a Black Bird with a white tuft below its neck. It's a beautiful Songbird and they love the flower Nector.
And there are also a lot of Camellia's and Rhodenderens which produce large flowers that range from white through varies pink shade to Red.
I have a large Eucalyptus tree just up behind our house which is very popular with birds. At night have heard Morepork 's [a small Owl that makes the same sound as it's name] calling out. In the morning the Tui's wake us up with their song.
Catch you all later Josie

Hi Everyone
I am still here just a little busy of late .
Sylvia very happy to hear your physio went well and you are slowly getting your strength back. I hope your OH has not done to much damage to his back and the physio can sort him out.
My garden has a weeping flowering Cherry in a half round wine barrel and planted in the garden I have a flowering Peach tree all are out in flower and look glorious,to top it off the OH's sweet peas are flowering and as are my Roses so the garden is looking pretty good at the moment.
The state Government has issued a shoot to kill on the Shark the other day ,so many Shark attacks lately there is def an increase in Shark over the last ten years . They can be clearly seem in Geographe bay swimming around,it is possibly due to the warmer waters over the last decade...very scary stuff.
Off shopping today so have a nice day everyone try to pop in later in the day.

Hello all......
I love cherry blossom but not the mess it leaves behind it...but it is SO pretty and all those other blooms and blossoms sound wonderful.
So it is getting warmer in NZ then? :-D
But it's getting colder in UK! :-(
Glad the physio went okay Sylvia.........you'll be doing press ups before we know it.. :-D
Have been busy what with one thing and another and am tinkering around with Evelyn's little problem called 'Diane' !! It would make a good detective mystery and I have built up so many possible scenarios in my head that I almost believe that one of them will come true........if only! :-S
Off to see my OH's specialist today re his Parkinson's. Never like going but it has to be done. There isn't a lot they can do about from play about with the medication really.
Had better go and make myself presentable....... <3 to all and a special wave to Ven. Robert ~~~~~~~~~ he must be out there somewhere in his little shell. Hope he has draughtproofed it for the coming winter.

Sun finally shining through in Kent after some much needed rain.
My SKY Box was replaced for the second time on Monday and I was able to watch england lose the final one day match to India - I am a masochist at heart.
Even better, a very competent BT engineer has reconnected my Broadband and vastly increased the speed. Can now continue research.
I would like some help on a research tool. I remember several years ago when I last actively researched my family, I was able to interrogate Family Search to eastablish all the children born to a particular couple - very useful before 1837. Cannot remember the steps I need to take.
Pleased that NZ won the Rugby - did not see as Box played up. France could do with some good news at the present time, but glad it was not their turn at Rugby.
Sylvia - glad you are making good progress.

Cynthia - I think you are rushing around more than I am
Robert - wonderful to see you again - nice to hear the North East is getting lovely weather
Arthur - i liked the older version of Family Search better - but getting use to the new one - i love the autumn tree colours in Kent - they looked lovely on Monday
Josie & Sue - wish I had a garden like yours - I love looking at the blossoms on the tree - i lost my flowering Cherry a couple of years ago - I didin't mind the blossom on the lawn
Sylvia - keep up the good work at the Physio - hope your OH is ok.
Waves & Hugs to Evelyn & Reece (((((((~~~~~~~~~~~))))))))
Cynthia - you have pinched my idea of a book - i got in there first - i too have some very imaginative ideas on who Diane really was & what went on - Perhaps if we have time we could go through the whole thread & do a database of people on it & possible relationships - its something i would love to do - but i don't have the time at the moment :-(
Well back to the workhouse - the whip is cracking again & the phoen is calling me
Take care all ;-) <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 ;-)

Cynthia - not the site I meant. Really it is the method to find all the children of a couple baptised/christened in the same place. Took out some of the guesswork.
Robert - you would have been as appalled as I was to see a house with Santa Claus and elaborate lights. Not even November!
Will soon be seeing Easter Eggs for sale.
