Thank you all very much for your input. I am actually researching for a friend in Perth, Western Australia - Nellie Louise Cole was his Paternal Grandmother. All that he 'knew' about her was that she was born c.1880 in Yorkshire and that she married his Grandfather in Perth. Well, today I have been busy trying to find their Marriage and children's Births on the W.Australia BMD and hey presto! I also found her Death which, miracle of miracles, gave her Father and Mother's names!!!!!!! Frederick and Elizabeth! This means my 1901 Census Nellie is incorrect but the one I found in 1881 is definitely her, with parents Frederick and Elizabeth, and gives Birth Place as Leicester, so the Birth Entry for Nellie Louise Cole in 1878 in Leicester has to be hers! I am thrilled - just needs proving with Certificates now! |

Did she marry, have children? You need to explain how you are related so we can work backwards. |

Thank you all for your input. Unfortunately I still cannot find a Birth for Nellie (who I believe maybe the 1901 b.1880 Hull, Yorkshire one) and don't know how to find her out!! |

I'm looking for a Nellie Louise Cole b.abt.1880 in Yorkshire but having no luck and am wondering whether Nellie is short for anything other than Ellen (I've tried that!) Any ideas gratefully received. |
